  • Giordano's in Boca Park - Lunch - July 9th - 2018

Giordano’s brings authentic deep dish pizza to the West Coast! You can enjoy our famous Chicago-style pizza right in the middle of Las Vegas. Their pizza has been named the best Chicago-style pizza since 1974 because it’s crafted using the best ingredients possible. From the Wisconsin mozzarella to the slow-baked double-crust, no one knows how to make cheese-stuffed masterpieces from fresh ingredients like Giordano’s. Choose from any of tjhe classic deep dish pizzas or enjoy one of the many starters, desserts, sandwiches, or salads.Giordano's even has gluten-free options, making it easier to feed the whole family.

The recipe for Giordano’s now-famous stuffed pizza is one that has evolved over 200 years.

Its creation began in a small northern Italian town near Torino, Italy. Mama Giordano was famous around town for her exquisite cooking. Of all her renowned dishes, her most beloved meal was her “Italian Easter Pie”. Mama Giordano would serve this double- crusted, cheese stuffed masterpiece on special occasions. This pizza pie became a sacred tradition in the Giordano family and a legend in the town of Torino. Years later, Italian immigrants Efren and Joseph Boglio moved to Chicago to start their own pizza business. The brothers introduced their Mama’s recipe for stuffed pizza. In 1974, on Chicago’s historic south side, Efren and Joseph opened the first Giordano’s in the world. Over the next 40 years and counting, millions of happy and loyal fans as well as hundreds of critics call Giordano’s the city’s “best” stuffed pizza! The rest is history you can still taste today, along with our other great starters, fresh salads, outstanding pastas and unique sandwiches.

The "stuffed" distinction is what makes Giordano's unique. There is a second layer of dough, below the sauce, that seals in the flavors of the pizza making Giordano's a true soufflé like pizza pie.

Their signature Mozzarella cheese is specially produced for Giordano's by skilled Wisconsin cheesemakers. It is aged to perfection and freshly shredded in-house every day to ensure that rich, creamy, buttery flavor and the legendary Giordano's melt.

Giordano's pizza sauce uses special tomatoes exclusively grown in a small area in Northern California, Mendocino County, renowned for producing some of the best tomatoes in the world.

Dorene and I arrived for lunch at about 11:30 am.

The lunch crowd had no yet arrived and that was fine with me.

The restaurant was very bright and clean. We chose to sit in a booth looking out the window.

You can't miss what Giordano's is famous for. They WANT you to eat pizza!

The restaurant has a cozy bar area with TV's showing a variety of sporting events There are also TV's
    in the main dining room.

Our server was Lily and from the start, it was obvious she was very new. New as I think it might have been her first day.

NOTE: If you order Deep Dish Pizza, there is a 40-45 waiting time for the pizza to cook properly.

    We ordered:

Personal deep dish with chicken pesto, tomatoes, spinach and fresh garlic.

We started with what Giordano's calls: "The Best" Tomato Bruschetta - $8.75

Fresh diced tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze on crispy garlic toast.

I was not accustomed to the amount of tomatoes that came with this version of Bruschetta. But in defense of the restaurant, the picture n the menu depicted a mountain of tomatoes.

In my opinion, there was more tomatoes than what was needed and it did mask the flavors of the mozzarella and garlic toast. It was very messy to eat as the tomatoes fell on your hands and all over the plate.

    Next was Mama's Famous Meatballs - $8.95
3 all-beef meatballs topped with our house-made marinara sauce and shaved parmesan cheese served with toasted crostini

The meatballs were very good but very dense, might have been sightly overcooked. The sauce was exceptional.

There was about a 20 minute wait for the pizza but you are warned in advance it does take additional time.

When the pizza arrived, the only ingredients we saw were the tomatoes. We did not see the chicken, garlic or spinach. Lily took the pizza away and said she'll have them remake it. Since this was our very first experience with Deep Dish Pizza, we felt a liitle embarrased when the pizza was brought back to our table and we were told the ingredients were inside the pizza.

This incident confirmed what my instincts that told me about Lily..this WAS her first day as she also did not know ingredients were inside the pizza.

All this aside, the pizza was very good.

Next came the Chicken parmesan and spaghetti entree with Minestrone soup.

The Chicken parmesan was very good and spaghetti was cooked perfecly. Once again I was treated to Giordano's wonderful sauce.

The soup was just OK. It could have used more veggies and the croutons were served along with crackers.

All in all, not a bad visit. The deep dish pizza is amazing and I do recommend it.

The staff was friendly, frequently stopping by the table to ensure we had everything we needded.

Giordano's offers a wonderful "Create Your Own Lunch" special.
