  • Lunch at Brightside Breakfast & Burgers at Plaza Hotel & Casino: July 10th, 2017

Brightside Breakfast & Burgers opened March 3rd, 2017 at Plaza Hotel & Casino, it’s decidedly different—quick and even more casual. If you need to get back to the action on Fremont Street, you can grab a pastry and gourmet coffee to go. If you settle in for an easy breakfast, lunch or dinner—the menu stays the same, all day—you’ll find a more affordable meal than typical casino-café fare, with most dishes around $10 or less. With a comfortable space recalling a classic deli vibe, Brightside strikes a nice note that lands between other Downtown dining options.

“The Plaza had record occupancy levels last year, driven in part by more special events and conventions, so we continue to add new amenities to further enhance our customers’ experience,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “Our rooftop pool and recreation deck with private cabanas and Pickleball courts created a resort style feel at the Plaza. Now, Brightside will further diversify our dining options, offering guests yet another delicious reason to visit the Plaza and downtown Las Vegas.”

The food is pure satisfaction. Brightside’s breakfast-on-a-bun approach is uique. A fluffy mound of soft-scrambled eggs, cheese and your choice of meats like bacon, sausage, chorizo and more are mounted on pillowy brioche, suggesting this place could become the Downtown version of Eggslut. It’s hard to find a good bagel-and-lox combo in the area, but Brightside has you covered there, too. The upgraded salmon platter adds all the crisp veggies you can handle, plus three smoked and pastrami-spiced salmon varieties.

Brightside’s barbecue bacon burger is another winner, though it’s tough to choose between that and the decadent, smothered Southern chicken sandwich—a crispy, juicy breast with a ladle of peppery country gravy plus scrambled eggs and bacon. It’s basically breakfast and lunch, on one plate and in every savory bite.

Freshly baked breakfast pastries and desserts are also available as well as a variety of freshly brewed and specialty coffees, milk shakes and malts. Brightside will also serves bottled beer and wine.

The first thing you notice when you walk into Brightside, is how clean the entire restaurant is! The tables and floor shines.

Ordering is done at the front counter. The menu is displayed on a chalkboard. I believe there was a printed version of the menu at the fron counter.

    Soft drinks are self-service.

You can chose to sit at a table or they have a lunch counter with old fashioned stools.

Lunch today was with Brian Rouff, an author of two Las Vegas based novels, "Dice Angel" and " Money Shot." His newest novel, "The House Always Wins" will be available soon.

I hadn't seen Brian is almost ten years so this was a real treat for me. We had great conversation and learned a lot about some of the known and unkown history of Las Vegas.

Lunch started with Downtown Chilli ($5) A nice sized portion with a lot of meat topped with a mound of cheese and sour cream.

Brian ordered: ITALIAN avocado TOAST SUN DRIED TOMATO, BASIL, MOZZARELLA ($9) There is an option of adding an egg for $1.00.
Brian said it was VERY GOOD!

Dorene did get the Avacado Toast with the egg.

I ordered Plaza Burger ($7) and an order of Tater Tots ($3) I ordered the burger medium rare and it was overcooked and bland. It was also very small and what little flavor it had was
masked by the oversized bun. In this case, the bun was three times the size of the burger. I was very disappointed as I heard the burgers were huge. I did tell the server it was overcooked but he did not ask if I wanted another one.

After showing the picture to Plaza Food & Beverage, I was told this was NOT the typical size of theor burgers. The Tater Tots were very good.

Aside from my burger, everyone thought the food was very good.

Brightside – Breakfast and Burgers offers guests a delicious dining experience reminiscent of an authentic New York style deli with traditional breakfast items, specialty and made-to-order sandwiches, burgers, and salads served all day long.

The staff is friendly and the restaurant is super clean. HOURS:
