    Caesars Entertainment Completes Sale of the Rio to Dreamscape, a Company led by Founder, Eric Birnbaum


    Caesars Entertainment Corporationone of the world’s most diversified casino-entertainment providers, today announced it has completed the previously announced sale of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino (the “Rio”) to a company (the “Buyer”) affiliated with Dreamscape Companies (“Dreamscape”), which is owned and controlled by Eric Birnbaum, for $516.3 million (including certain fees, expenses and $40 million in seller financing provided by a Caesars affiliate). Dreamscape acquires, repositions and/or develops hospitality, residential, retail, gaming and entertainment assets.

    In connection with the completion of the sale, a Caesars subsidiary entered into a lease with the Buyer under which Caesars will continue to operate the property for a minimum of two years and pay annualized rent of $45 million. The Buyer has the option to pay Caesars $7 million to extend the lease under similar terms for a third year. At the end of the lease term and at the request of the Buyer, Caesars may continue to manage the Rio or may provide transition services to the Buyer.

    The Rio will continue to be part of the Caesars Rewards network during the lease term, and the transaction is not expected to result in any changes to the guest experience. The World Series of Poker will be hosted at the Rio in 2020 and hosting rights will remain with Caesars Entertainment thereafter. Further details on the transaction are available in the Form 8-K to be filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

    108 NEW ARTIFACTS, INCLUDING 20 NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN, COMING TO TITANIC: THE ARTIFACT EXHIBITION
    AT LUXOR HOTEL AND CASINO IN JANUARY 2020,108 YEARS AFTER THE TITANIC’S FATEFUL VOYAGE


    More than 108 years since the RMS Titanic set sail on its fateful voyage across the Atlantic and for the first time in many years, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor Hotel and Casino will introduce 108 new artifacts to The Strip’s premier educational attraction. The new artifacts include 20 never-before-seen items that have been under careful preservation since being recovered from the ocean floor and 102 items that have never been on display in the Las Vegas exhibition.     During the temporary closure, the Exhibition will also be refreshed throughout, including the addition of new technologies and a photo station where visitors will be able to pose with prop lifejackets from a major motion picture.     The grand story of the “Ship of Dreams” is revived through Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition at Luxor Hotel and Casino. With more than 400 real artifacts, guests embark on a journey to feel what it was like aboard the famous luxury liner.     Arizona Charlie's Decatur Location Hosts Vegas Golden Knights Bingo



    Arizona Charlie’s Boulder and Arizona Charlie’s Decatur will host Vegas Golden Knights themed bingo in December and January with special appearances from beloved mascot, Chance, and promo team, the Vegas Vivas.

    On Thursday, Dec. 19, during National Bingo Month at Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, Chance and the Vegas Vivas will host a team themed bingo night.     Nelly, TIP and Gucci Mane to Headline Big Game Weekend at Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell Las Vegas

    Drai’s Nightclub at The Cromwell will host a weekend-long party in celebration of the Big Game featuring Nelly, TIP and Gucci Mane from Friday, Jan. 31 to Sunday, Feb. 2.

    Rap veteran Nelly will bring his “Country Grammar” to Drai’s with a live performance to kick off the football festivities on Friday, Jan. 31.     You might remember the days of “Downtown” Gordie Brown, twice over.

    Get ready for the third installment.

    The veteran impressionist headliner is returning to Golden Nugget Showroom on Feb. 11 in a show titled, “Lasting Impressions.” He’s set to perform at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays under a six-week deal.

    The hotel will continue its popular “52 Fridays” headlining series, meaning the showroom will feature live entertainment four nights a week.

    Underground shuttle could spread across Las Vegas by Ray Hagar

    Elon Musk’s Boring Company underground drill is chewing through dirt and rock under the massive Las Vegas Convention Center.

    When the $52 million project is completed by 2021, the drill will have dug two mile-long tunnels under the convention center, where autonomous vehicles with Tesla chassis will shuttle people back and forth.

    Yet the underground shuttle service for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority may only be the beginning of the underground tunnel technology in Las Vegas, said LVCVA President and CEO Steve Hill.

    In an interview on Nevada Newsmakers, Hill said the underground technology may someday serve a much larger area in Las Vegas.

    New Circus Circus owner plans sandy pool complex, theater for Cirque show

    A billionaire Las Vegas Strip resort owner told Nevada regulators Thursday he plans to renovate and expand the aging Circus Circus Las Vegas hotel-casino, adding a swimming pool complex with a wave machine, sand beaches and lazy river water ride.

    Phil Ruffin won final approval from the Nevada Gaming Commission to buy the 51-year-old property from MGM Resorts International for $825 million.

    The Circus Circus property includes a nearly 4,000-room hotel, the indoor Adventuredome featuring rides and games, Slots-A-Fun Casino, a former recreational vehicle park and an open-air festival venue on the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.

    BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas to Host Party for Football’s Biggest Game of the Year

    BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas will take the Big Game to new heights with a rooftop bash complete with an elaborate tailgate spread, more than 75 HDTVs and spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2.

    Endless food packages will be available on BEER PARK’s outdoor deck, which offers social picnic table style seating and yard games, as well as indoors on comfy living-room style furniture with classic arcade games for entertainment in between plays. Packages are available for up to eight guests and include unlimited access to food stations serving next-level tailgate cuisine, along with seating. Packages to BEER PARK’s Big Game party start at $125 plus taxes and fees and may be purchased here.

    Game day fare will serve soft pretzels with cheese and mustard, extra-large hoagie sandwiches prepared with smoked turkey pastrami or prime rib, chicken wings, pork sliders, chicken taquitos, jalapeño poppers and more. Live food stations will include a grilled sausage station, nacho station and dessert stations with cupcakes and cake pops. Roaming food carts will include a smoked street corn cart, a popcorn cart and an ice cream cart.

    BEER PARK offers a 9,000-square-foot rooftop deck outside and a 10,000-square-foot filled with living room-style seating and arcade games inside. One of just a few places in Las Vegas outside of casino sports books to offer live betting, BEER PARK offers an in-house sportsbook kiosk.

    Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse to Open at Flamingo Las Vegas

    Introducing the latest addition to the “Forever Fabulous” Flamingo Las Vegas, the all-new Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse will transport guests back to the resort’s vintage roots while serving a fresh and intriguing steakhouse experience in a modern way.

    The restaurant’s name is a nod to Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel and business partner Meyer Lansky, who famously opened the Flamingo Las Vegas back in 1946 with the intention of bringing Hollywood glam to the desert. With the Flamingo, they created the first resort-style hotel on the Strip and forever changed Las Vegas. The Lansky family is involved in the new steakhouse and will even assist in the creation of unique merchandise, which will be available for purchase. Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse will be a one-of-a-kind destination steakhouse, much like its resort’s origins, in menu, design and atmosphere.

    “With Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse, we want our guests to feel as if they’ve traveled back in time to when the Flamingo Las Vegas first opened, with glamour, class and intrigue, but positioned in today’s world with modern touches,” said Flamingo Las Vegas Regional President, Eileen Moore-Johnson. “This steakhouse will be a destination dining experience complete with statement menu items, classic dishes, and unexpected finds you may need to ‘know a guy’ to order.”

    Guests will be transported from the moment they arrive, as they enter through the “bakery” façade, and past the kitchen and dry aged meat cooler, giving the illusion of discreetly entering through the back as many did decades ago. Once inside the steakhouse proper, an eye-catching dining experience awaits. In collaboration with designers Studio K Creative out of Chicago and renowned designer Jonathan Adler, the restaurant boasts a variety of atmospheres, including the main bar, patio dining, the bustling main dining room, three private dining rooms and a raw bar.

    ​The main bar
    • The oval main bar is a focal point of the restaurant and takes notes from tropical destinations with rich woods, greenery, airy textures like linen coupled with bright leather and of course, one-of-a-kind, specially curated flamingo artwork. It will have booths and tables surrounding it, making it a destination for pre-dinner, small bites or late night.
    • For those wanting to channel the energy of the casino, patio dining surrounded by lush greenery offers a scenic vantage point, while still in the confines of the restaurant.
    • The main dining room features a mix of natural and chic, including light and dark woods with bright jewel tones in décor and seating. The artwork will especially pop with vintage black and white images, including historical ones of the Flamingo and Las Vegas. Large booths will be anchors around the dining room, with traditional tables and half booths peppered throughout.
    • The three private dining rooms are a collection of three themes that stand alone but are cohesive when combined. Individually they seat between 16 and 24 guests, but when used as one, they can accommodate close to 60.
    • Emphasizing the variety of fresh seafood available on the menu, the raw bar in the dining room offers an experiential dining option for guests, which is anticipated to be one of the most sought-after seats. From shucking oysters to building stunning seafood tower displays, the guests at the raw bar counter seating will be a part of the action.

    Offering the ultimate throwback, exclusive experience, guests can venture into the luxurious speakeasy and private bar lounge, known as “The Count Room.” This will be an intimate and ambient room with an expanded specialty cocktail menu that can be exclusively tasted here, but only guests “in-the-know” will be able to find this hidden gem. Lining the walls will be historical images, including vintage images from when the Flamingo first opened. Bugsy and Meyer would approve.

    Bugsy & Meyer’s menu will have a vast variety of dishes—from small bites to be enjoyed at the bar, to steakhouse classics and throwbacks, to tableside presentations, a raw bar and more. Bugsy & Meyer’s in-house dry aged program is showcased in the restaurant in a glass encased show cooler. Hand selected cuts include domestic prime, dry aged prime, imported wagyu and a signature 60-day Chicago cut bone-in ribeye.

    Seafood will also be a cornerstone of the menu, especially with the raw bar kitchen in the main dining room. Enjoy premium shellfish towers with charcoal grilled enhancements. Crudo, poke and tataki preparations will also be prepared in front of our guests. Other dish highlights will include short rib, lamb saddle, steak Diane and more. Dessert is no slouch with staples like baked Alaska, mille-feuille with bourbon mousseline and strawberries Romanoff reinvented.

    In addition to having an exclusive cocktail menu, The Count Room will also have an exclusive food menu with especially playful takes on traditional dishes, all in proportional presentations.

    The cocktail menu will pay homage to the past while presenting new takes on the classics and originals. Hailing from the Caribbean and a favorite spirit of the 1940s, rum cocktails will be heavily featured. For that personalized touch, a tableside Old-Fashioned cart will be rolling through the restaurant with customizable selections including base spirit, choice of bitters, additional flavoring and even citrus peel. Other cocktails include prohibition-era libations and unique contemporary creations.

    Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse will be located across from the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat main entrance, in the former Center Cut, Café To Go and Laurel Lounge spaces.

    Oscar’s Steakhouse at the Plaza expands happy hour offerings

    Located at the Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown Las Vegas, the award winning Oscar’s Steakhouse now offers happy hour in the lounge every day from 5 to 7 p.m. with an expanded cocktail and appetizer menu.

    New food items include oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail and a black angus burger on toasted brioche with American cheese and “special” sauce.     Mott 32 Announces All-New Brunch Menu Available Every Sunday, Beginning Jan. 12

    Downtown Las Vegas now has its very first Chick-fil-A. The chicken sandwich kings opened a location in the Carson Tower at the Golden Nugget with a full roster of strips, sandwiches, breakfast fare, waffle fries, and more.

    Chick-fil-A now operates five Las Vegas area locations, with future openings inside the former Claim Jumper space at the front of Planet Hollywood Resort, West Charleston Boulevard and South Fort Apache Road, and next to the Palms at West Flamingo Road and South Valley View Boulevard.

    Eater Awards 2019: Announcing the Las Vegas Winners by Susan Stappleton

    It is now time — drum roll, please — to announce the winners of the 2019 EaterAwards in Las Vegas. These winners comprise a diverse group of the finest and most interesting chefs, restaurants and bars in the city. They’ve defined this year in dining, and we applaud them.

    First, a quick recap: Eater’s local editors in 24 cities nominated candidates for three major categories: Restaurant of the Year, Design of the Year, and Bar of the Year. These awards are geared toward places that have opened in about the past year, or people who have become involved in new ventures or otherwise changed the game in that time, which is why many renowned veterans don’t appear.

    Vanguard Lounge, the Fremont East bar, calls it quits at the end of the year. The nearly 10-year-old lounge, one of the first to open in the revamped Fremont East entertainment district, tells fans on Facebook that after New Year’s Eve, the venue closes.

    “Vanguard Lounge is closing after almost 9 ½ years of providing a great Entertainment venue with amazing drinks and a wonderful service on Fremont East. We will be closed after New Year’s Eve. During the years we have received many awards and accolades from Las Vegas. During the next few weeks many of our past bartenders and DJ’s will be returning for a final performance at The Vanguard. Isaiah Thornton will be back hosting at the Vanguard for the final two weeks with many Guest Bartenders and DJ’s.     Food Flash:
    Missing its announced debut date by eight months, Colorado restaurant and “social lounge” Jing has once again kick-started new life into its Downtown Summerlin expansion.

    Replacing the former 8,600-square-foot Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse in an easy-to-find spot next door to the Oval Park Drive Shake Shack, Jing is currently sponsoring the annual Rock Rink! outdoor ice skating attraction through January 20 at the outdoor retail hub.

    Adding to the high-profile branding, the restaurant has just reopened the hiring process and recently filed an updated work permit on the site, following weeks of paperwork inactivity. Early filings had allocated an estimated budget of $2.4 million for construction.

    Food Flash:
    Las Vegas-based Deja vu Services Inc., which claims to be the largest strip club operator in the world, bought surly restaurant Dick’s Last Resort, which has a location at Excalibur. Loop North News reports that Deja vu, which owns more than 130 strip clubs nationwide, as well as restaurants, nightclubs, adult online businesses, and karaoke bars plans no changes. Dick’s, known for its obnoxious service and outrageous hats it makes customers wear, has 13 locations.

    FOOD FLASH:
    Three years since it became a local fast-casual sensation, chicken kings Chick-fil-A is revealing to future hires an official debut date and opening hours for is long-awaited, first location on the Las Vegas Strip.

    Dubbed Chick-fil-A Strip at Harmon, diners can begin ordering sandwiches and waffle fries on Thursday, January 30, at the former site of Pink’s Hot Dogs, right at the front entrance of the Planet Hollywood Resort.

    The location will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., but closed on Sundays. The chain has doubled the Pink’s outdoor frontage to 1,560 square feet, creating an open-plan walk-up window and designated area for picking up mobile orders.

    Cafe Americano Plans a French-Influenced Restaurant on the Strip


    Cafe Americano, the 24-hour restaurant at Caesars Palace, plans to open a second location on the Las Vegas Strip in early 2020. Parent company V&E Restaurant Group takes over the Le Café Ile St. Louis space at Paris Las Vegas.

    This restaurant plans to include French twists on American dishes from executive chef Matt Fresinski. Other new additions after a makeover include a climate-controlled patio, a full bar, and a grab-and-go coffee station.

    V&E Restaurant Group also has Mercato della Pescheria at the Grand Canal Shoppes and Terraza by Café Americano at Caesars Palace as well as the more Latin-infuenced Cafe Americano at Caesars Palace.

    Ayesha Curry and Michael Mina Debut a Barbecue Restaurant on the Strip by Susan Stappleton

    Family Food Fight host Ayesha Curry teams up with chef Michael Mina to open an ode to all thing barbecued and smoked. International Smoke opens at the MGM Grand in Mina’s former Pub 1842 space with some of Curry’s favorite dishes, such as cornbread with a red curry butter, Mama Mina’s falafel, and smoked St. Louis ribs with a choice of barbecue sauce, a Vietnamese chili-lemongrass, or Korean sesame gochujang. That ode to global travel continues throughout the menu.

    The Las Vegas menu features some new dishes including a whole pulled pork shank from the smoker in an al pastor sauce, served with corn tortillas and a pineapple salsa, along with braised Jamaican oxtail.

    A roster of roasted shellfish opens the menu. Diners can shuck their way through Pacific oysters, Gulf shrimp, Alaskan king crab legs, a whole or half Maine lobster, or a shellfish platter heaped with oysters, shrimp, lobster, and crab and served table side with a lemongrass tea for $85.
