    Cherry Boom Boom Announces Residency at Hooters Las Vegas



    Cherry Boom Boom, an immersive rock ‘n’ roll and go-go live dance show, will return to Las Vegas with the launch of a new residency at the Night Owl Showroom at Hooters Casino Hotel Las Vegas. Previews will begin on Thursday, Aug. 15 with a grand opening on Thursday, Sept. 5.

    Redesigned specifically for Las Vegas, the interactive show features more than 15 numbers performed by five professional dancers and one bawdy host swinging above you and crawling beside you. With an unforgettable soundtrack and distinctive style, Cherry Boom Boom unleashes the sensual, bold and fearless dance performances from an all-female cast.

    Creator, director and supervising choreographer, Lindsley Allen, was a founding member of female performer group and dance ensemble, The Pussycat Dolls, as well a dancer for legendary performer, Prince. The rejuvenated show is scheduled to relaunch later this month in the multi-million-dollarTHUNDERLAND showroom. Complete with high-resolution LED screens, multiple interactive performance spaces throughout the room, dazzling special effects, new lighting, sound, décor and increased seating capacity, THUNDERLAND is everything showgoers want in a Vegas showroom.

    Comedy Works bringing nationally acclaimed stand-up comedians to the Plaza Hotel & Casino
    Longstanding comedy club and entertainment company, The Comedy Works, will bring nationally acclaimed stand-up comedians and up-and-coming talent to the classic showroom at the Plaza Hotel & Casino Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights beginning Thursday, Sept. 12.

    The Comedy Works has been producing stand-up comedy events since 1981. It owns and operates comedy clubs, produces shows in theaters throughout the U.S, and guides the careers of a number of performers. Having worked with many all-time great comedians including Jerry Seinfeld, Ellen Degeneres, Robin Williams, Chris Rock, and Ray Romano, The Comedy Works is now owned by Tommy Nicchi who grew up in stand-up comedy given that he was just three years old when his father founded the company.

    The Comedy Works at the Plaza will offer shows Thursdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 9 p.m., and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. with ticket prices starting at only $20.

    The STRAT Hotel, Casino and SkyPod Debuts New Link Slot Lounge and First Phase of Casino Remodel

    The STRAT Hotel, Casino and SkyPod has unveiled the new Link™ Slot Lounge, a partnership with Aristocrat Technologies, along with the first phase of a casino remodel. Both are located on the main floor near the new BLVD & MAIN Taphouse and View Lounge.

    Named for Aristocrat’s popular Link series, the Link Slot Lounge showcases 44 games from Aristocrat’s most entertaining and successful titles, including Buffalo Grand™, Buffalo Diamond™, Tarzan™, Wonder 4™ Spinning Fortunes, Buffalo Golden 7s™, Gold Stacks 88™ games, Liberty Link™, Lighting Link™ and Dragon Link™ games. The 2,346-square-foot lounge is modern in design and feel, with triangular mirrors suspended from the ceiling and lush, contemporary seating.

    The first phase of the casino floor remodel spans 10,371 square feet with 236 machines and reveals The STRAT’s new design and branding, inspired by the sky, sun, stars and moon with tones of blue and amber; the signature color the same sky blue that is used in the property’s new logo. The ceiling design is accentuated by an elegant box-like light filled extrusions for dimensionality within the ceiling elements.

    The entire 80,000-square-foot casino, encompassing 750 machines and 44 tables, will be fully remodeled by the end of 2019. Other new features include new directional signage, new video walls at check-in and behind the box office, and more.

    In addition to the gaming areas, the main floor has recently introduced a new Welcome to Las Vegas Gift Shop by Marshall Retail Group. An intimate casino lounge is now under construction with an opening planned for fall.

    The glamorous ‘Blanc de Blanc’ opens this week at SLS by Brocke Radke

    Something new is coming to SLS Las Vegas this week and it’s something the north Strip resort hasn’t had since it re-branded and re-opened in 2014 — a resident show.

    “Blanc de Blanc” will make its Las Vegas debut on August 16 in the Foundry at SLS, a cabaret-style variety production with dancing, acrobatics, comedy and more. The Foundry was converted from the former Life Nightclub and has played host to concerts and other special events, while the smaller Sayers Club has been more actively used for SLS entertainment, most notably comedy shows from Eddie Griffin, Mo’Nique and others.

    As the resort evolves into the new Sahara Las Vegas this fall under new owner Alex Meruelo, “Blanc de Blanc” could become a prominent part of the next version of this iconic Strip property.

    La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway at Wynn Las Vegas Unveils New Garden Lounge and Creative New Dishes



    Morton Group’s celebrated concept, La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway at Wynn Las Vegas, has unveiled its new garden lounge and a stylish refresh of the restaurant, as well as several new dishes and wines.

    Now totaling 6,300 square feet, the most dramatic enhancements can be found in La Cave’s garden lounge, which is now enclosed in operable glass windows. Offering a picturesque setting for dining, the open-air design brings the outdoors inside with views of Wynn’s lush gardens and pool, along with a floor-to-ceiling ‘living wall’ filled with colorful succulents.

    Other new touches include a lighter color palette, sheer drapes and new furniture. In addition to increasing the total seated capacity to 175, La Cave’s expansion presents new opportunities for large parties and events.

    Corporate Executive Chef William DeMarco, who developed the original La Cave menu of American small plates, has taken this opportunity to add several new items to the menu. New selections include chicken and caviar, an inventive dish made from chilled crispy wings, caviar and crème fraiche, priced at $29; short rib tacos, topped with avocado crema, tomato and cilantro, priced at $18; sea scallops with chorizo and sunny side-up quail eggs, topped with chipotle hollandaise sauce, priced at $19; and baked meatballs served over creamy polenta, topped with house marinara, priced at $14.

    Continuing La Cave’s tradition of “in vino veritas,” Latin for “in wine there is truth,” La Cave has added several new wines to the expansive list of 350 bottle selections and 50 wines by the glass. New selections, offered by the glass, include: Lanson Rose Label Brut Rosé, Reims, France; Domaine Gerovassiliou Malagousia 2016, Epanome, Greece; and Alvaro Palacios Camins del Priorat 2017, Priorat, Spain.     BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas Opens 9,000 Square-Foot Interior Expansion

    BEER PARK, which overlooks the Las Vegas Strip on the rooftop of Paris Las Vegas, has more than doubled in size with the opening of a 10,000-square-foot expansion, open now. With garage doors that open to bring an indoor-outdoor feel, the expansion offers the same rooftop bar appeal along with the opportunity to take in BEER PARK’s cocktails, cuisine and playful vibe – no matter the weather. Combined with the existing 9,000-square-foot rooftop deck, BEER PARK now encompasses 19,000 square feet and accommodates more than 1,000 guests.

    “BEER PARK is like a playground for grownups,” said Jason Ellefson, general manager of BEER PARK. “This expansion adds more of that appeal – a vast beer selection, over-the-top cuisine and plenty to entertain you, whether it’s arcade games, karaoke or watching the game.”

    The overall design of the expansion was inspired by a house, whereas BEER PARK’s current rooftop deck becomes the back yard. Much of the comfortable, oversized seating has the feel of a living room, with dozens of HDTVs offering offer prime views of the game from every seat. ‘Old-school’ arcade and carnival games include Skee-Ball, Pop-A-Shot and darts, plus an enclosed patio offers karaoke, open to the public or for private events.     The STRAT Hotel, Casino and SkyPod has debuted a complete remodel of the iconic tower’s indoor/outdoor Observation Deck on the 108th and 109th floors, which includes the new 108 Drinks and 108 Eats by James Trees. Located in the SkyPod at more than 1,000 feet high, the Observation Deck offers 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Strip.

    The 108th floor of the Observation Deck is indoors, with floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding the entire 360-degree circumference. Food, beverage and retail offerings can be found on the 108th floor, including 108 Eats by James Trees, serving gourmet bites, homemade ice cream and sandwiches; and 108 Drinks, featuring craft cocktails and comfortable bar and lounge seating. The 108th floor also serves as the jumping off point for SkyJump, a controlled descent from 855 feet high; as well as a new box office for the thrill rides; and Exhilarate 108, a retail store for souvenirs and novelty items.

    Stairs lead to the outdoor observation deck on the 109th floor, which offers 360-degree views of the Strip, mounted binoculars, plus access to two of the The STRAT’s thrill rides: Insanity and X-Scream. Big Shot is one level up, crowning the very top of the SkyPod at 1,149 feet tall.

    Featuring the cuisine of celebrated local chef, James Trees, 108 Eats offers a menu of paninis and other sandwiches; artisan cookies; popcorn; chips; ice cream and sorbet; and coffee drinks. Artisan cookie selections include flavor combinations such as pretzel and butterscotch and peanut butter and jam. Bites include Calabrian spiked chips, root chips and chili cheddar popcorn. Panini sandwiches, served on fresh sourdough bread, include the mushroom and truffle, prepared with fontina and boschetto tartufo; and sliced meatball, prepared with basil ricotta and bianco pomodoro. Cold sandwiches, served on focaccia, include “The Chenz ‘We Up Here!,’’ made with Italian meats, fontina and vinegar slaw.

    108 Drinks serves elevated craft cocktails to complement the thrills of The STRAT’s thrill rides. Signature drinks include the Big Shot, made with Patrón Añejo, a Grand Marnier float, triple sec, sweet and sour and lime; 360, made with Grey Goose, peach schnapps, cranberry and orange juice; and Pure Insanity, made with Cruzan rum, Myers’ float, triple sec, orgeat, pineapple and orange juice.

    Both floors of the Observation Deck are available for private events, with options for groups of up to 1,000 guests, including complete buyouts.     Hello Kitty Mini Cafe Pop-Up Debuts on the Strip by Susan Stappleton

    Hello Kitty Cafe has spent years sending its rolling food truck to Las Vegas filled with adorable water bottles, pastries, and more. Now the cafe becomes semi-permanent when it opens at The Park between New York-New York and Park MGM on Friday.

    Sanrio dubs this version a Mini Cafe Pop-Up, sitting outdoors on the plaza across from Beerhaus. The outdoor cafe brings all things Hello Kitty and Las Vegas, with collectible merchandise and treats that are exclusive to the outpost.

    The festivities kick off on Friday, July 12, at 11 a.m. with a special appearance by Hello Kitty, plus a small gift with purchase for the first 50 customers.

    The new Hello Kitty Cafe Las Vegas pop-up will be the first of its kind in Nevada after the wild success of its sister concepts in California, which include the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe in Irvine and Hello Kitty Mini Cafe in San Jose, as well as two Hello Kitty Cafe Trucks that launched in 2014 and continue to traverse both coasts.

    An Italian Restaurant with a Speakeasy Debuts on the Strip in August by Susan Stappleton
    Ambra Italian Kitchen + Bar takes over the former Fiamma space at the MGM Grand, pegging an August debut. One of the biggest highlights? A speakeasy filled with a cocktail bar doling out cocktails such as the 1850 Sazerac, the 1896 Daiquiri, and the 1919 Negroni.


    MGM Resorts International corporate mixologist Craig Schoettler created the cocktail menu for Privata, Italian for “private.”

    The food side of the menu focuses on Italian dishes meant to share. The lineup includes wagyu meatballs made with Japanese F1 wagyu, king crab involtini stuffed with preserved lemon mascarpone and basil, lobster cavatelli Bolognese, 45-day aged bone-in ribeye Fiorentina, and a chocolate cherry flambé, flamed table side.

    Distill Still Plans To Move to Henderson and the Southwest by Bradley Martin

    The parent company behind Distill and Remedy’s Taverns already had a huge year, but two more expansions are still the works, with one taking longer to debut than expected.

    Earlier this year, Distill took over five Putter’s Bar & Grills around the city and in rapid fashion remodeled and relaunched the sites as their own 24-hour gaming and dining destinations.

    Still to come, yet another Putter’s Tavern is currently being transformed at the southwest’s Shops at Warm Springs retail center, close to the intersection of Durango Drive and Warm Springs Road. The always open restaurant and bar already applied for a 15-machine gaming license earlier this year and promises to be “coming soon.”

    Eighteen miles to the southwest, plans for a built-from-scratch Distill tavern in Henderson were first revealed in March 2017 and originally proposed to fill 6,780 square feet at the corner of Via Inspirada and Via Da Vinci.

    The empty plot of land remains vacant and the Distill team asked the City of Henderson for a “one year extension of time” on their permits, before they revive the project. Currently, necessary water and sewer services are located too far from the proposed building, but they hope as the neighborhood grows they will be able to tap into the new utilities and kick start the build.

    Culinary trailblazers back in the 1940s found a way to keep gamblers inside the resorts with cheap food, and lots of it. El Rancho Vegas, the Strip’s first resort, came up with the chuck wagon, the earliest version of the modern day buffet to turn up in Las Vegas. As UNLV’s Center for Gaming Research writes, “quantity was usually emphasized over quality.”

    “The buffet filled a need for the casino, which wanted to keep its late-night gamblers happy, but didn’t want the expense of keeping a full restaurant open all night. Knowing that the hungry gamblers would be happy with good, plentiful meats and snacks, the El Rancho Vegas’s managers created the all-night chuck wagon. It may have seemed like no big deal at the time, but the casino buffet would become a Las Vegas signature restaurant.”

    Those early chuck wagons might have served some hot dishes along with cold cuts. El Rancho Vegas’ Buckaroo Buffet only cost a dollar for all-you-can-eat fare when it opened.

    Now, Las Vegas has more than 70 buffets spanning from Aliante to Henderson, Summerlin to the Strip, serving gourmet fare at a range of stations.

    Firefly* Tapas Kitchen + Bar is making many of its fans elated with plans of an expansion. Restaurateurs John and Tabitha Simmons have announced their newest venture, another Firefly* Tapas Kitchen + Barrestaurant, set to open in the southwest Las Vegas area at 7355 S.     Cabo Wabo Cantina Honors Mexican Independence Day with Traditional Mexican Dishes

    Sammy Hagar’s rockin’ Strip-side cantina, Cabo Wabo Cantina, located inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, will honor Mexican Independence Day with a fiesta of food from Wednesday, Sept. 11 to Monday, Sept. 16.

    Cabo Wabo’s executive chef, Tacho Kneeland, will prepare a traditional Mexican parrillada, served with marinated and seasoned meats, including BBQ pork ribs, carne asada, achiote chicken and chorizo; as well as grilled onions, jalapeños, rice, beans and flour tortillas. The platter is priced at $28.95 for an individual serving; and $46.95, prepared for two people to share.     Once Vegas Golden Knight Ryan Reaves gets his 7Five Brewing Co. up and running Downtown, he’ll have a restaurant as well serving bar fare. Reaves teams up with Able Baker Brewing Co. on the new brewing facility that plans to open this summer.

    The team behind 595 Craft & Kitchen provides the food for the new Arts District Craft & Kitchen restaurant. So far, dishes teased include beer-brined jumbo wings, lotus leaf steamed bun with either pulled jackfruit or pork belly, a barbecue chicken banh mi, fried chicken sandwich with choices such as Nashville hot spice blend, honey garlic barbecue, or Buffalo, and crispy cauliflower with a choice of dipping sauces.
