The November event will feature thirty-two 4-man teams – that’s 128 old Detroit iron cars battling it out in an elimination bracket to be the last team standing. On Saturday, a locals’ only heat has been added, featuring drivers just from the Las Vegas area in a 1990’s and newer car class.

A family friendly event, children three and under can attend for free. Tickets can be purchased online: single day tickets are $45 and discounted tickets at $30 per day are available with a hotel room reservation (prices do not include taxes and fees).

“The demolition derby at the Plaza in March was simply amazing,” said Jonathan Jossel, Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO. “The Core Arena was full to capacity for this fun, family friendly, action-packed event. Given its popularity and success, we are excited to welcome a bigger, three-day demolition derby event to the Core Arena and downtown Las Vegas this November.”

Stirrin' Dirt Racing is currently working on a television series set to air this fall featuring the owners: Johnny Gullo #17, Jim "Gumby" Simko #000, Dalton Gullo #16 and Jeri Gullo #17 plus other drivers from the western U.S. The show will also highlight the Sin City Showdown.

“Drivers from all over the country – east to west, north to south – and even as far as Canada are coming to Las Vegas to participate in the Sin City Showdown,” said Gullo. “We are excited at the chance to become the largest demolition derby in the United States.”

Knee-high in Atomic Saloon renovations, Madam Boozy Skunkton is learning the hard way that if you open a saloon in the desert, you’ve got to expect all sorts of lowlife cactus-kickers wandering in looking for free booze, loose change, or even a free slice of pie. In putting together the cast for ATOMIC SALOON SHOW, which opens at The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort in September, Skunkton has just engaged one such blow-in, an Italian acrobat who would definitely be on the hard side of al dente in any spaghetti western.

Known ‘round these parts as the Abdominal Outlaw, the Italian stallion who forgoes a six-shooter for a six-pack is infamous around the world for hold-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, and for stealing hearts wherever he goes. While robbing stagecoaches (read: busking on Fremont Street) may be his current line of work, in a previous life the Abdominal Outlaw performed jaw-dropping acrobatics in circuses across Europe, as master of the aerial pole, and was a 2018 finalist on Spain’s Got Talent (yes, even they’ve got one). And as a swimwear and underwear model with more than 300,000 Instagram followers (@acrodave), the Abdominal Outlaw is bound to be a sensation with Atomic Saloon patrons who like to look at dudes in their underwear.

With an international cast of comic actors, variety acts, and acrobats, ATOMIC SALOON SHOW will take audiences back to the Wild West as it never was. Ensuring she can oversee the day-to-day wrangling of her band of misfits, Boozy Skunkton has enlisted the assistance ofSpiegelworld and Britain’s leading comedy director Cal McCrystal to create the new show that’s envisioned as “Blazing Saddles” meets “America’s Got Talent” meets “A Night at the Roxbury”… did anyone even see that movie?

SPI Entertainment takes a big step with Thunderland at the Excalibur by Brock Radke

“Thunder from Down Under” is the longest-running and highest-grossing male revue in the history of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s also the show that provided the foundation for SPI Entertainment, one of the most eclectic and successful theatrical production companies in Las Vegas, currently producing Human Nature’s “Jukebox” at the Venetian, Boyz II Men’s residency at the Mirage, “The Australian Bee Gees Show” at Excalibur and “Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man” at Paris Las Vegas.

“We always want to elevate our game no matter what we’re doing. It’s just the nature of the beast, you want to evolve,” says SPI founder Adam Steck. “ ‘Thunder’ is the first show we brought here, to the Frontier in 2001, and there was nothing like it and it blew up. We’re really proud of it and we’re ready to evolve it.”

That evolution comes in the form of the recently announced 10-year extension for the show at the Excalibur and the Thunderland project, a $6 million renovation of the show and its showroom at the Excalibur that will be ready for action next month.

Jimmy Kimmel keeps the laughs coming at the Linq Promenade in Las Vegas by Brock Radke

With a large crowd gathered to celebrate under the marquee of his brand-new Las Vegas Strip comedy club at the Linq Promenade Friday night, Jimmy Kimmel joked about growing up in Vegas and hitting the Strip with friends to “torture tourists.”

Now, along with his partners at Caesars Entertainment and the star comedians at the two-story Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club, he’ll be entertaining them, just as he’s done for more than 15 years on his Emmy Award-winning late-night talk show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The club’s grand opening event generated plenty of buzz over the big fight weekend, thanks to an all-star roster of surprise performers that joined hilarious headliner Gina Brillon to christen the club’s stage; Kimmel’s sister Jill kicked things off before comedy stars Sarah Silverman, Pete Holmes and Chris Tucker each took a turn.

In Vegas, Every Day Can be Fry-Day as Frites Las Vegas Lands on The Strip
Foodies across the world will rejoice over Frites Las Vegas – the first-ever French fry concept on The Strip, bringing back the richness of beef tallow for ultimate fry perfection. Frites Las Vegas, opening June 24, is the first original concept from Feel Good Brands, which has operated multiple franchises for more than 20 years in the Las Vegas valley.

“We want to really savor the fry – an item that in and of itself is a glorious thing – so we knew we had to master the craft,” said Feel Good Brands Founder Lincoln Spoor. “A lot of research went into creating what we think is the perfect fry – everything from the type of potato to the cut, but the most important factor was diving into the frying component and without a doubt, beef tallow brought the richest and most delicious flavor.”

Fry fanatics will rejoice as they bite into a crisp fry with just the right amount of crunch on the outside and perfect creamy texture on the inside, thanks to the unique triangular Frites cut that also allows for maximum dip-ability.

The menu features Original Frites Fry, which can also be dressed up as the Everything Bagel Mix Frites or the Double Ketchup Frites; guests can also upgrade to Truffle Frites for a richer flavor. The Frites Las Vegas menu boasts Frites Meals including Chips ‘N Dip including Deviled Egg Sauce with Thick Cut Potato Rounds, Castle Frites with Crispy Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, Sour Cream & Chives on top of Stubby Frites Fries, Sausage Gravy Frites topped with Breakfast Sausage & Black Peppered Gravy on top of Stubby Frites Fries and Nacho Frites with Yellow Queso, Cotija Cheese, Jalapenos, Red Onion and Cilantro on top of Stubby Frites Fries. House Pumps satisfy every flavor palette from the classics like Frites Fry Sauce and Spoor’s favorite, Buttermilk Ranch, to more Specialty Sauces such as Thai Chili, Deviled Egg, Nacho Cheese and Aji Crema. The sweet side of the menu allows guests to crunch into Churro-style Crinkle Cut Sweet Potato Fries with Whipped Malted Nutella Cream made with Coconut Oil or cool off with a Root Beer Float.
Original Frites and specialty frites are made with 100% beef tallow, bringing back the good ol’ way French fries were made when rendered beef fat was a staple of nearly every kitchen in America and was the “secret” ingredient to some of the world’s most popular French fries. In addition to the Original Frites, Frites Las Vegas offers a vegetarian options using peanut oil.

Taking the most popular side dish and giving it the spotlight it deserves, Frites Las Vegas has modernized the average French fry, transforming the frites into a portable and crave-able meal on-the-go with flavors that embrace Americana nostalgia and add a kick of international flair. Frites Las Vegas boasts an Instagram-able food truck façade that fires up June 24 inside Excalibur Hotel & Casino’s Castle Walk Food Court. Frites Las Vegas will be open daily Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 a.m. – midnight and Friday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 2 a.m. For more information, visit

The Most-Anticipated Restaurant Openings in Las Vegas — Summer 2019 Edition by Susan Stappleton

Summer arrives in Las Vegas with a bumper crop of new restaurants on the horizon. Water Grill brings its seafood restaurant to Las Vegas, while The Slanted Door brings modern Vietnamese fare after announcing its arrival two years ago. Richard Blais arrives on the Strip, as does a permanent home for the Hello Kitty Cafe And locals’ favorite Dan Krohmer of Other Mama fame has another new restaurant on the way, and Nicole Brisson, formerly of Eataly, opens an Italian restaurant in the southwest. Chinatown’s Shanghai Plaza isn’t done revealing new eateries. Here’s a look at some of the biggest restaurants opening this summer in Las Vegas.

Terra Rossa Returns to Red Rock Resort by Bradley Martin

Lasting 15 months at the Red Rock Resort, Scott Conant’s Masso Osteria shuttered in May, stripping the dining portfolio of a dedicated Italian menu.

Currently rushing to fill the void, Station Casinos has chosen to revive a name from its past to fill the 4,000-square-foot space.

Now hiring and on its way to installing new signs to reveal the change, Terra Rossa appears to be on track for a summer debut.

Launching with the resort in 2006, Terra Rossa closed in 2014 to eventually make way for Salute Trattoria Italiana. Terra Rossa’s sibling concept Terra Verde at Green Valley Ranchalsodisappearedthe same year to become Bottiglia.

Tuscany-inspired and featuring a large open kitchen, the restaurant achieved a moment of national fame when Heather West, winner of Hell’s Kitchen’s second TV season, earned the position of senior chef as her competition prize.

The naming switcheroo, or any details of the future changes, have yet to be announced by Red Rock.

Tivoli Village got a needed jolt when Ada’s, a bustling Italian eatery, recently opened there. Created by James Trees, the mind behind the stellar Esther’s Kitchen in Downtown’s Arts District, Ada’s (and its outdoor patio) has been brimming with bodies during lunch and dinner hours—and even in between.

Meals usually start with crusty, flavor-dense boules of bread ($4) with cultured butter, olive oil and sea salt on the side. Luscious burrata cheese ($5) and umami-forward anchovy butter ($3) are also available for slathering. In the antipasti category, mussels ($16) with spicy ’nduja sausage, lemon and parsley are a savory and fragrant collection of shellfish. Truffled arancini ($11) with summer corn purée and a hint of chili are crispy, yet ethereally light. The seasonal Market salad ($15) is bright with pickled peaches, hazelnuts and ricotta cheese, and the sautéed rapini ($11) delivers farmhouse goodness with pickled chilis, garlic, lemon and pecorino.

Trees’ handmade pasta dishes have made waves Downtown, and the trend continues at the Summerlin-adjacent Tivoli. On a hot summer day, the best choice is a bowl of gemelli($15), emerald-green, basil-flavored noodles tossed with pistachio pesto redolent with citrus. Traditionalists, meanwhile, can go for spaghetti with pomodoro sauce ($15) and meatballs ($6 more).
