    CELINE DION CONCLUDES HER GROUNDBREAKING LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY AT THE COLOSSEUM AT CAESARS




    Last night, June 8, international superstar Celine Dion concluded her second groundbreaking residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Since Celine’s first residency debuted in 2003, more than 4.5 million fans attended 1,141 performances at the award-winning venue built specifically for Dion, and every show of Ms. Dion’s final run this spring was sold-out. The final crowd was treated to special moments throughout the show including a performance of Celine’s new song ‘Flying on My Own’ from her upcomingalbum, Courage, due for release in November of this year. Touching moments included a photo collage backdrop set to ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ featuring images from Celine’s Colosseum shows from the very beginning, and photos of Rene Angelil, her late husband and former manager, and their three boys, who also joined Celine and her longtime orchestra and band on stage during the emotional final curtain call.

    “I’m both proud and humbled by what we’ve accomplished at The Colosseum since we began 16 years ago, when René and I first shared this dream,” said Celine. “This entire experience has been a huge part of my show business career…one that I will cherish forever. I have so many people to thank, but the most important ‘thank you’ goes to my fans, who gave us the opportunity to do what we love.”

    In March 2003, Celine Dion forever changed the landscape of Las Vegas entertainment with the premiere of her first residency A New Day… which played 717 shows from March 25, 2003 through December 15, 2007. On March 15, 2011, she made a triumphant return to Caesars Palace with her second residency, Celine, which played 424 shows. Across the 16 years, Celine performed 1,141 shows to more than 4.5 million fans at The Colosseum. The residency was presented by Concerts West/AEG Presents and Caesars Entertainment and directed by legendary Grammy Awards producer Ken Ehrlich.

    Las Vegas Lights soccer shoot out game debuts at Plaza Hotel & Casino

    THE HUNGER GAMES: THE EXHIBITION CELEBRATES LAS VEGAS GRAND OPENING



    The Hunger Games: The Exhibition opened in style last night with a red carpet grand opening celebration at the the reimagined Las Vegas attraction at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Notable attendees included The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2 actor Elden Henson (Pollux), local Las Vegas celebrities Frank Marino, Adam London, cast of Friends! The Musical Parody and Marriage Can Be Murder, as well as Lionsgate, Cityneon, Victory Hill Exhibitions and MGM Resorts executives.

    The Hunger Games: The Exhibition is based on the world-renowned films from Lionsgate, which grossed over $3 billion at the worldwide box office. It celebrates the epic journey of Katniss Everdeen from her humble beginnings in District 12 to her rise as the Mockingjay. This is the second family-friendly attraction in Las Vegas that has been reimagined and recreated by international entertainment and exhibition company, Cityneon Holdings Limited, and its subsidiary Victory Hill Exhibitions.

    Highlights of the evening included a private tour of the exhibition’s new interactives, curated sets and costumes, as well as the newstate-of-the-art, fully-immersive archery training experience.

    The thrilling experience features several inspirational galleries including the Hall of Justice, President Snow’s Office, the Tribute Train, District 13, and an archery training experience set within a 60-foot wide interactive digital training lab, which is a climactic highlight of the exhibition and the first of its kind on the The Strip.

    Boozy Skunkton Rescues Irish Dancers Lost in Nevada Desert and Hires Pair to Choreograph Atomic Saloon Show

    Preparing to take over the Atomic Saloon inside the Grand Canal Shoppes in September for Spiegelworld’s upcoming ATOMIC SALOON SHOW, Madam Boozy Skunkton realized she was going to need some “darn dazzlin’ dancers” to entertain her patrons. Recently, her prayers were answered when a couple of lost Irish folk dancers staggered out of the desert and into her under-renovation saloon at The Venetian Resort. Today, Mr. and Mrs. O’Calamity accepted Skunkton’s offer to choreograph and perform in her new Las Vegas production.

    Described as the “Pioneers of Polka-Punk,” Mr. and Mrs. O’Calamity met on the ruthlessly competitive Irish dance circuit and later joinedRiverdance, which took them around the world and eventually to Broadway. Fired after an unfortunate incident involving the mini-bar in Michael Flatley’s dressing room, the O’Calamitys went on to invent their own totally badass brand of Irish hand dancing – what Flatley does with his feet on the stage, this pair can do with their hands on a small wooden table.

    Mr. and Mrs. O’Calamity are no strangers to Spiegelworld. In 2014, circus scion Alfonso Buzukhov first discovered them wandering the desert when his traveling Falzone Family Circus was on its way to Las Vegas. They performed with Alfonso for a few months before their wandering spirit took over and they found themselves lost in the desert once again.

    Now, Madam Boozy Skunkton has come to the rescue by inviting Mr. and Mrs. O’Calamity into the Atomic Saloon to choreograph her new show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer before it hits Las Vegas in September.

    With an international cast of comic actors, variety acts, and acrobats, ATOMIC SALOON SHOW will take audiences back to the Wild West as it never was. Ensuring she can oversee the day-to-day wrangling of her band of misfits, Boozy Skunkton has enlisted the assistance ofSpiegelworld and Britain’s leading comedy director Cal McCrystal to create the new show that’s envisioned as “Blazing Saddles” meets “The Greatest Showman” meets “A Night at the Roxbury.”

    Plaza Hotel & Casino continues to enhance guest experience with more than 100 upgraded Luxe Rooms

    Exemplifying the growth of downtown Las Vegas, the Plaza Hotel & Casino continues to upgrade its guest experience with a $15 million renovation that transformed more than 100 hotel rooms and suites on the top floors of the North Tower. The new Luxe Rooms offer enhanced guest accommodations with a variety of technology, energy efficiency and décor upgrades.     Significant infrastructure changes were made to create the Luxe Rooms that average 325 square feet. Adjoining doors were removed to allow for more storage options with modern wardrobes, and 16 rooms were combined to create eight new suites.

    The new Luxe Rooms incorporate similar design details that debuted when the Plaza renovated its pool suites, including warm wood tones and mixed metals with bold colors and graphics. They also feature laminate flooring with area rugs and a barn door entry into reimagined bathrooms with custom vanities, oversized walk-in showers, quartz counters and a blend of dimensional tiles.

    In addition to the contemporary décor, the Luxe Rooms offer modernized entertainment and climate control systems. Every room has an Amazon Echo Dot within the alarm clock that enables guests to easily use general Alexa commands to check the weather, play music and contact hotel staff for assistance, such as requesting housekeeping, reserving a pool cabana, or making dinner reservations at Oscar’s Steakhouse.

    Each room also features energy efficient LED lighting and an upgraded climate control system from Verdant that senses when the room is unoccupied to manage settings that save energy without compromising guest comfort. Every room offers various guest conveniences, such as a multitude of built-in USB charging ports, a 49-inch flat-screen television with premium cable, a coffee maker and refrigerator. The eight new Luxe suites also include a wet bar, and all Luxe Rooms offer stunning mountain views or overlook the high energy activity of Fremont Street.

    The rooms also have state-of-the-art RFID card entry, a safety feature that has recently been installed in all 1,000 guest rooms at the Plaza.

    Plaza Hotel & Casino to host July 4th party at rooftop pool with hot dog eating contest and downtown Las Vegas’ only live fireworks show

    The Plaza Hotel & Casino will host its annual Independence Day party on Thursday, July 4 at its rooftop pool. Free to attend, the party will again culminate with downtown Las Vegas’ only live fireworks showlighting up the sky at 9 p.m. Bigger and better this year, the fireworks will be staged from multiple locations on the Plaza’s roofs and towers, ensuring an amazing show for party attendees and one that will be visible for miles.

    At the party, guests can swim or relax poolside while a DJ plays crowd favorites. Doors open at 5 p.m. and festivities start at 6 p.m. with downtown Las Vegas’ only hot dog eating contest in the style of the famous event held annually at Coney Island. The contest winner will receive a grand prize, which includes $200, a free two night stay at the Plaza, $150 to Oscar’s Steakhouse, a free pool cabana plus $50 towards food and beverage at the Pool at the Plaza. The contest, sponsored in part by Hoffy Hot Dogs, is limited to 10 participants, 21 years of age or older. Registration is open online until June 21.

    Create an athletic, acrobatic, fast-moving take on a traditional circus-style production, spike it with talented performers and original music and drop the whole thing inside a 30,000-square-foot tent on the Las Vegas Strip at a casino resort with free parking. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect easy-access, all-ages show for the summer? As long as the AC is keeping that tent cool, it could be a winner.

    “Celestia” opened for previews at the STRAT on May 11 and hosted its grand opening last week. Originally announced in November for a January opening, the show was restructured with a different creative team and the results are impressively cohesive. It plays like a greatest-hits collection of familiar circus acts—hand-balancing, contortion, aerialists and even the Wheel of Death—with no breaks in the action and a decidedly family-friendly tone. And with tickets starting at $29, “Celestia” provides an affordable alternative to most of the Strip’s major production shows.

    Executive producer Brian Burke is also a creative producer for “America’s Got Talent” and two standout “Celestia” acts have appeared on the popular TV competition, father-daughter balancing duo Sergey and Sasha and the Sandou Trio Russian Bar. The title character, “a girl made of stars,” and two playful clowns serve as guides through an enchanting and occasionally romantic world full of colorful characters who fly through the air, flip across the stage and sometimes work their way into the audience. Proximity is an advantage for this show, especially when the crew rolls out its house-made Wheel of Death and its two fearless inhabitants hover above you. Other high points include a ballet-trapeze hybrid and an aerial straps performer who duels with an army of agile acrobats. Overall, it’s a brisk and cinematic new contribution to the Vegas showscape, packing a lot of fun into 70 minutes. And the tent was properly cool.

    BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas to Host Rooftop Party for Basketball Draft

    BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas will invite basketball fans to catch all the action of this year’s draft with beer buckets and a rooftop party starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 20.

    The popular bar and grill will show the professional basketball draft on dozens of high-definitions TVs throughout the venue, as well as audio to catch all the action. Plus, BEER PARK will offer $35 Budweiser buckets, each with five bottles served on ice.

    BEER PARK offers more than 100 varieties of beer, including 36 on draft, as well as reimagined stadium cuisine. Menu selections include the Kahuna Cowboy Burger, winner of the “Bud and Burgers Competition” in 2016, served on a pretzel bun with candied bacon, pineapple, jalapeño relish, BBQ sauce and swiss cheese; chicken wings served with house-made hot sauce, celery, carrots and ranch dressing; dirty fries made with crinkle cut fries and topped with cheddar cheese, green onion, fresh jalapeño, bacon, brisket and pico de gallo; and a soft twist pretzel served with beer cheese fondue and house-made Goose Island mustard.

    Opening Set for Cali Burgers and Onion Bombs

    It’s been a long wait since new Nevada restaurant Cali Burgers first promised to be coming soon, but fast-casual fans anxious for a first taste of “onion bombs” and “Southern California-style burgers” now have an official opening date in North Las Vegas.

    Launching on Friday, June 7, Cali Burger replaces a former 24-hour Tortas El Reyat the Fiesta Plaza retail center,close to the intersection of Civic Center Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard, and designed with hard-to-miss red and white signage.

    The Factory Kitchen, the Italian restaurant that opened in December at the Venetian, already had plans to open Sixth + Mill Pizzeria & Bar in the Grand Canal Shoppes. Now comes word that fans will have to wait until September for the Neapolitan-style pizzas, pastas, and seasonal plates from chef Angelo Auriana’s childhood in Italy.

    Sixth + Millreplaces Otto Enoteca in the St. Mark’s Square high-pedestrian traffic section of the Grand Canal Shoppes.

    The restaurant fills a substantial 5,042 square feet, with a total occupancy of 148 and a hefty budget of $2.1 million estimated for construction costs alone.

The opening of Jade Asian Kitchen & Noodles, part of the resort’s 20thanniversary fanfare and renovation, signifies the ongoing commitment to culinary projects at the Summerlin resort.     Jade Asian Kitchen & Noodles is a flavorful journey through Chinese, Japanese and Pan-Asian cuisines featuring multi-regional offerings in a setting both vibrant and peaceful. A step forward from the traditional Asian dining experience, Jade offers multiple and memorable dining experiences all under one roof with traditional Chinese wok favorites and house specialties, a full sushi selection of rolls and sashimi, ramen and noodles, robata selections grilled over Binchotan-charred coals and Teppanyaki. Situated in the Promenade on the north side of the resort and steps away from the popular Clubhouse Deli, the restaurant boasts nearly 10,000 square feet with seating for more than 400 guests throughout the restaurant’s interior dining areas, outdoor patio, and bar. Guests can opt for the main dining room which features a spacious main dining area, a secluded Teppanyaki room with two group tables, a communal/social sushi room, a casual noodle spot perfect for lunch or dinner, and a lush outdoor patio with koi fish swimming in ponds, the sounds of waterfalls and a beautiful landscape.

    Chef Ayoung Chang, most recently of the Pan-Asian fusion restaurant Jia at MGM Resorts International’s Beau Rivage Casino & Resort in Mississippi, returns to Nevada to oversee Jade Asian Kitchen & Noodles as Executive Room Chef, while JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa’s Executive Pastry Chef Olivier Carlos oversees the sweet side of Jade. Chef Chang brings a wealth of experience from fine dining establishments in Lake Tahoe and Biloxi in the States to South Korea. She’s competed in a variety of culinary competitions on an international level taking home awards at Expogast – Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg in 2010 and the FHA 2008 Culinary Challenge Singapore Expo to name a few.

    Chef Chang aims to please a wide variety of palettes with Jade and bring the ultimate Asian culinary journey to life running the full spectrum from traditional cuisine including General TSO’s Chicken(wok-fried chicken, vegetables, General TSO’s sauce), Sichuan Beef (Szechuan wok-fried beef, spicy dark sauce, jalapeno), sashimi sushi options and a Omakase tasting menu to the restaurant’s signature “wow” dishes including Wok Charred Filet Mignon (wok-fried filet mignon, seasonal vegetables, Gochujang sauce), Fried Whole Fish (fried with spicy soy sauce, served inside the skeleton) and the Troy signature roll (seared salmon, spicy tuna, lotus root, fennel, bonito truffle crunch, habanero aioli) and the Smoking Konbu Wagyu (bone marrow, yuzu butter blanc, mushroom, filet mignon, nam mouc sauce, pickled mustard seed and taro chips) from the robata grill, both served to the table on fire.

    Other crowd-pleasing dishes include the Robata Grill’s Sea Scallops (grilled scallops jalapeno crunch, grilled lime, grass crunch) and 48-Hour Aged Tofu (creamy tofu hummus, bonito-truffle crunch); The Noodle Bar’s Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen (pork and soy broth, BBQ pork, mushroom dadegi, seasoned soft egg, vegetables, noodles) and Singapore Noodles (thin rice noodles, shrimp, pork, chicken, bean sprouts, julienne onions, spicy curry seasoning); the Japanese Sushi Bar’s Casper roll (small octopus, crab, shishito pepper, micro cilantro, arare, smoky habanero aioli) and Lobster Tempura (tempura lobster, amarillo leche de tigre); and Chinese house specialties including Roast Half Duck (crispy roasted duck, five spice seasoning, spicy hoisin sauce, steamed buns) and Salt & Pepper Prawns (wok-stirred fried prawns tossed in salt and pepper seasoning, ginger sauce). In addition to the traditional Teppanyaki menu, Jade also offers a variety of vegetarian dishes, as well as selections that can be made vegan and gluten-free.

    Guests can also indulge their sweet side with a mouth-watering dessert from Chef Carlos including Miso Crème Brulee, Black Sesame Panna Cotta and Jade Cheesecake. Jade also offers a full selection of Japanese Whisky and 20 different sakes, as well as a full wine and beer list of both foreign and domestic selections. To complement the breadth of the menu, Jade features a variety of specialty, hand-crafted cocktails including Signature Jade with matcha green tea, sake and coconut cream; Jade Cooler with Roku Japanese Gin, Yuzuri Yuzu Liqueur, citrus and Mr. Q Cucumber Soda; and Pink Geisha with Haku Japanese vodka, Nagomi, white peach, fresh lemon juice and Liquid Alchemist Orgeat. Jade also features mocktails including the Blueberry Yuzu Lemonade with house blueberry citrus compote mixed with lemonade, as well as the Peachee Soda made with peach puree, lychee syrup and Sierra Mist.

    Jade Asian Kitchen and Noodles will be open daily for dinner 5 – 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 5 – 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday (full restaurant including the main dining room, Teppanyaki room and bar).     Cabo Wabo Cantina Stacks It Up with Piña Colada Pancakes

    If you like piña coladas…Celebrate National Piña Colada Day at Cabo Wabo Cantina located inside Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino with a special rendition of the cantina’s signature pancakes, available from Monday, July 8 to Friday, July 12.

    Reminiscent of the tropical coconut libation, Cabo Wabo will offer Piña Colada Pancakes, made with the cantina’s original buttermilk pancakes, topped with house made pineapple syrup and fresh pineapple slices. The pancakes are finished with a dollop of whipped cream and freshly toasted coconut, priced at $13.95. The Piña Colada Pancakes will be available from 8 to 11 a.m., along with Cabo Wabo’s full breakfast menu of signature Tex-Mex dishes and breakfast cocktails, including bottomless mimosas, priced at $24.99.

    Strip-side celebrators may continue the piña party with Sammy’s Toasted Colada, made with Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum, Coco Lopez and pineapple juice, served on the rocks and garnished with a rim of freshly toasted coconut, priced at $14.
