Whether you “Heard it Through the Grapevine” or not, there’s a new Motown show in town and it’s taking things to the extreme. Motown is the feel-good genre that doesn’t require sequins and matching suits to make you smile, but they sure can’t hurt. Motown Extreme at Hooters hits all the right notes, even down to the bold coordinating costumes.

The young crew who opens the show seems like just a frame story of the next generation discovering the classic hits of yesteryear, but they surprise the crowd when they return as a slick quintet echoing the likes of The Jackson 5 and The Temptations. Expect tight harmonies and the high falsettos that make this genre so distinct. The group, who is impressive beyond their years, shares the stage with other acts representative of the quintessential Motown sound such as famous girl groups like Martha and the Vandellas and The Marvelettes. This upbeat, high-energy show will have you singing along to all the well-known hits from your favorite Motown artists as the crowd becomes one big dance party. The tunes will make you get up out of your seat, but just “Blame it on the Boogie.”

    Hooters, 5 p.m. Wed.-Sun., starting at $59.95 plus tax and fee. 866.584.6687

It’s rare for the stage to be the star of the show but is just that: A rare and exciting experience that’s truly unlike any other. The massive moving stage captivates the audience and sets up the most unbelievable, gravity-defying action sequences and acrobatic stunts. Imagine parkour on steroids … now shoot flaming arrows at the performers running up and down the dynamic stage and you’ve got some idea of the intensity of the battle scenes.

is the classic tale of good versus evil as a set of twins fulfill their shared destiny and find love. Their path takes them on an epic journey over land, sea and through the air. The theater itself is a work of art and the action takes place on all sides of it so guests will enjoy excitement from every angle. With so much to take in, it's best not to even blink. Along with the rotating stage that gets completely vertical for action-packed combat, the music is a real standout in this Cirque du Soleil spectacular. A live band provides the appropriate accompaniment with heart-pounding drum beats and crescendoing guitar riffs. The music soars as high as the acrobats in this one-of-a-kind show.

Why Cirque du Soleil’s new action show ‘R.U.N’ will reshape Luxor by Brock Radke

The days of regularly imploding casinos and building brand-new casino resorts on the Strip appear to be over. We are now in the era of the massive remodel, currently exemplified by the major changes wrapping up at the Palms and the evolution of Monte Carlo into Park MGM.

But some Vegas resorts can’t be remade. Luxor President and COO Cliff Atkinson was on the job for just a few weeks when he acknowledged as much during the recent announcement of the new Cirque du Soleilresidency show coming to the 25-year-old Egyptian pyramid-themed property this fall.

“I think it’s more about updating the property we have to be the best asset in its class. We can’t really rebrand what Luxor is, but what we can do is improve and update the offerings from rooms to restaurants and things like this show.”

That makes the arrival of “R.U.N,” billed as Cirque’s first live-action thriller production and set to open October 24 at Luxor’s 1,500-seat theater, even more important for the pyramid, MGM Resorts International and the Strip in general.

Hatsumi Debuts at Fergusons Downtown Providing the Ultimate Culinary Destination

Executive Chef and Owner Dan Krohmer of Other Mama Hospitality has officially opened the doors to his newest restaurant concept, Hatsumi, in Downtown Las Vegas. Located in the heart of the ever-evolving Fremont East District and within the recently revitalized Fergusons Downtown market square, Hatsumi has already established itself as one of the city’s most exciting new restaurant openings of 2019.

The thoughtfully unique, yet approachable dining experience is inspired by Chef Krohmer’s vision of providing locals and tourists alike with a traditional omotenashi-style of service that invokes the sense of “subliminal happiness” he has personally encountered through his travels to Japan and specifically found in a throwback hotel lobby bar in Tokyo. The menu features robata izakaya dining with a highlights from the yakitori bar’s selection of skewers; from Jidori chicken that’s broken down in-house nightly, Snake River Farms beef, lamb, seafood and vegetables grilled over Japanese charcoal; assorted plates includes chef’s interpretation of classic pork gyoza, a beautiful presentation ofbeef tataki, lomi lomi with ocean trout, eggplant katsu, and an already crowd-favorite shrimp okonomiyaki dish, as well as several other soon-to-be signature items using always responsibly-sourced ingredients. The menu is subject to change daily and is composed of exclusively the freshest meats, seafood and produce available. For the ultimate culinary journey, an omakase-style chef’s tasting menu is available for a set price starting at $55 per person and reservations are strongly recommended as quantities are limited. Nightly tasting menus can be prepared to accommodate vegetarians and vegans if desired.

“The support we’ve received from our neighbors downtown and from all over the city of Las Vegas has been overwhelming,” says Chef Krohmer “I couldn’t be more proud of the team that has built Hatsumi and for the opportunity to open our doors for everyone to experience the Japanese style of hospitality and cuisine that I’ve dreamed about bringing to our community for years finally become a reality.”

Since partnering with Fergusons Downtown back in early 2018, Chef Krohmer has been meticulously overseeing the concept’s development to date and appointed Chef de Cuisine Bobby Silva. Chef Bobby brings a wealth of experience in Japanese dining on the Strip with respected organizations such as Mina Group, SushiSamba and Momofuku under his belt and has fallen into perfect sync with Chef Krohmer’s initial vision for the menu to take the reins and oversee all kitchen activity to his own technical and creative standards.

The beverage program at Hatsumi is composed of the largest selection of sakes in downtown Las Vegas, assorted Japanese beers and a curated domestic and international wine list. The full bar boasts an extensive cocktail menu including unique options such as the Awasake with rum, grapefruit and lemon verbena, the Kyoto with Japanese whiskey, orgeat and bitters, and the Sling with gin, cherry herring, Benedictine and lemon.

Hatsumi pays homage to the neighboring downtown Arts District with the addition of Yerman the Sad Yeti, who graces the walls and adds a local design flair by Las Vegas artist Ryan Brunty of Depressed Monsters. In addition to the local representation, Desert Bloom Eco Farm proudly provides its sustainably grown hyper-seasonal produce for the kitchen to incorporate into the menu nightly.

Located in the ever-evolving East Fremont district in Downtown Las Vegas, Hatsumi is now open and offers dinner only from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Thursday – Monday. For additional information and updates, and follow on Instagram/Facebook at @hatsumilv Reservations are recommended, especially if ordering the chef’s tasting menu option and can be made online or by calling the restaurant directly at 702-268-8939.
