    Everything Las Vegas 936

Marking the starship OPM 73’s first orbit around the sun, the raucous crew and its invited passengers celebrated the first anniversary of OPIUM at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Tuesday, March 12, with an out-of-this-world Martian party following the side-splitting and jaw-dropping performance. The hit adults-only space odyssey was met with a roaring standing ovation at the finale of the performance, which featured the galaxy’s best entertainers and space oddities.

Landing slightly off course, the starship and its passengers were greeted by the Mayor of Mars who invited the lot to a Martian party he’d organized for the occasion in the adjacent Rose.Rabbit.Lie. supper club. Keeping with interplanetary customs, passengers were provided traditional Martian attire including silver capes, neon facial markings, and tinfoil space headwear as they entered the off-planet party. Throughout the evening, passengers sipped on custom Spocktails curated by Mariena Mercer, chief mixologist at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and noshed on sweet and savory bites.

“We’d like to thank this supremely talented crew for sharing their gifts and getting us to this point,” shared Ross Mollison, Impresario Extraordinaire of producing company Spiegelworld, while donning the ultimate David Bowie tribute attire for the event’s theme of Life on Mars. “Their talents and the continued support of our fans and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas team are the reason we’re celebrating our first anniversary of Opium tonight. Cheers to many more!”

Throughout the anniversary party, passengers were dazzled by wild and eccentric vignette performances in the transformed Rose.Rabbit.Lie. space, including an unforgettable song from OPIUM show producer and promoter Harry M. Howie.

OPIUM continues to take flight 10 shows per week at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Tickets starting at $69 are available at Connect with the show and its crew on social media @OpiumVegas.

Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox Turns The Mirage into Perfect ‘Hideaway’ With New Residency Show

“Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox Hideaway” debuted the interactive blast-from-the-past experience Thursday, April 18 atThe Mirage inside 1 OAK Nightclub. Unlike any previous PMJ performance, this spectacle now features a rotating cast of All-Stars guaranteeing a new experience nightly.

Guests donning vintage-inspired clothing were swinging and singing along with talented PMJ All-Star Ariana Savalas, who headlined the show’s grand opening and will perform as a special part of the cast through Saturday, June 22. The international showgirl and songwriting sensation is famously known as the resident femme fatale and star of the vintage phenomenon Postmodern Jukebox. Known as the musical burlesque queen and the mistress of the modern Moulin Rouge, Savalas’ performances are timeless and have garnered over 300 million views online, reaching No. 1 on the iTunes jazz charts multiple times.

Opening week also featured standout PMJ newcomer Rogelio Douglas Jr. The multi-talented performer was a triple threat on stage, showing off his supreme vocal abilities and dazzling the audience with incredible dance and beatbox routines. His limited engagement is a must-see act fans do not want to miss.

“Postmodern Jukebox is a wonderful addition to The Mirage’s entertainment portfolio. This unique show is an interactive throwback experience unlike any other production on The Strip,” boasted Nik Rytterstorm, President & COO, The Mirage.

“Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox Hideaway” transports guests through time, turning the showroom into what feels like a Roaring ‘20s speakeasy where PMJ creates memorable moments and guests dance the night away Tuesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. through Saturday, Aug. 31.

The multi-talented collective of more than 100 vocalists and musicians reimagines contemporary pop, rock and R&B hits in the style of various yesteryears, from swing to doo-wop, ragtime to Motown – or, as creator Scott Bradlee himself puts it, “pop music in a time machine.” Started by Bradlee in 2009, Postmodern Jukebox has gone on to amass more than 1.1 billion YouTube views with 3.8 million subscribers and has collected more than 1.9 million fans on Facebook. For the past five years, PMJ has toured the world, playing hundreds of shows to sold-out venues on six continents. They’ve also performed on shows including “Good Morning America,” topped iTunes and Billboard charts, and caught the attention of NPR Music, NBC News and a wide array of celebrity fans.

For fans who may only know PMJ from its time-warping videos, the live show is an experience on a whole other level. It’s a party that would make the Great Gatsby proud, mixed with a swinging ‘60s night with the Rat Pack, spiced up with a little Motor City soul and some classic sock hop rockin’ that gets audiences dancing the night away. A Postmodern Jukebox show is a unique blend of talents and personalities that makes for an always entertaining and consistently fresh and exciting evening.

Tickets are on sale with prices starting at $39.99, plus tax and service charges and can be purchased at any MGM Resorts International box office, online at or or by calling (800) 963-9634 or (702) 792-7777. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend the show.

El Cortez Hotel & Casino Introducing New Table Game “Great 8”

On Friday, April 12, guests of the iconic El Cortez Hotel & Casino will be among the first to experience Great 8 -- an all-new table game developed in part by former El Cortez dealer, Richar Fitoussi.

The game is played by wagering on either the Yin (red) or Yang (yellow) sides. Once the wagers are places, the dealer will deal cards on both the Yin and Yang sides – whichever side gets closest to eight wins. Two bonus pay tables offer exciting payouts with some hand combinations allowing both bonus bets to win. Additionally, if an eight is the first card drawn on the player’s side, the player automatically wins.

“Great 8 is entertaining, exciting and easy to introduce,” said Fitoussi.

In many cultures the number eight is considered lucky, mainly because of its perfect symmetrical shape. Perfect symmetry lends itself to perfect balance, allowing for good fortune in all facets of life.

“El Cortez has a long history of providing the best gaming to our loyal customers, but we are also a property that embraces new technology and casino games. Most of our tables are still 3/2 single deck blackjack and the popularity of it means any new game needs to get a lot of action to occupy valuable real estate in our pit. Great 8 is a game that locals and tourists alike will enjoy because it provides good odds for the player and simple rules that make the game easy to learn and fun to play. Richar Fitoussi is a seasoned professional and a pleasure to work with and we are excited to go live with Great 8 on Friday,” said Assistant General Manager, Adam Wiesberg.

Great 8 is the latest addition to the El Cortez Hotel & Casino’s wide selection of slots, table games and sports book -- all with the best value in Las Vegas.

Sting set to headline at Caesars Palace in 2020 by Brock Radke

Last month Sting announced a new greatest hits-style album, “My Songs,” is coming out on May 24, with new versions and reinterpretations of 15 of the most celebrated songs of his career. What better place to revisit one’s hits than Las Vegas?

Today Caesars Entertainment and Live Nation announced Sting’s “My Songs” residency will open at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 22, 2020. Tickets for 16 Las Vegas shows in May, June, August and September of next year will go on sale May 3.

The Colosseum, where Celine Dion will wrap up her record-breaking second residency in June, is set to close for renovations this summer and reopen with a slate of new artists and events. One week ago, classic rock outfit Journey was announced as another new resident with shows scheduled in October.

Sting’s show “will present a compendium of Sting’s songs with dynamic visual references to some of his most iconic videos and inspirations.” The 67-year-old singer, songwriter and bass guitar player has amassed 17 Grammy Awards and sold close to 100 million albums as a solo artist and with the Police.

Vegas will always have Elvis. Even as the Strip’s show and entertainment community adapts to a landscape that includes major league professional sports and headlining residencies from current chart-topping artists in theaters and nightclubs, there remains a space for the King—or more specifically, varied renditions of him.

“I’m not really very good at that. I’m not an Elvis impersonator per se, and that’s part of the uniqueness of our show, that I’m onstage as myself and I don’t have to wear that cap 100 percent,” says Eddie Clendening, a veteran Broadway performer who has played the role in The Million Dollar Quartet and opened Elvis Presley’s Heartbreak Hotel in Concert at Harrah’s Showroom this week. “The main thing is our band as a whole. All those guys are as passionate about the music as I am. A lot of times when you see an impersonator, it’s a guy with a karaoke track or the band is just hired guns going through the motions. This [show] gives you full unity, everybody invested in re-creating the experience 100 percent, and all those parts add up to something special.”

Heartbreak Hotel is a concert-style show, a tweaked-for-Vegas version of a stage musical from the producers of Rock of Ages. It tells the story of Presley’s rise to fame by focusing on his earliest music and ditching the drama that sometimes bogs down a traditional tribute show. There’s a similar approach with a new show that concludes its limited run in the Donny & Marie Showroom at the Flamingo on April 21, The Greatest Piano Men, which brings a group of talented singer-pianists to the stage to play the music of Billy Joel, Elton John, Ray Charles and more. These guys might sound like the icons, and they’re wearing some minimal costumes, but they’re onstage as themselves, interacting with the audience and not staying in character, so to speak.

‘Tenors of Rock’ finds a new home at Planet Hollywood

One of TripAdvisor’s top-ranked Las Vegas shows of the past two years is opening in a new venue this weekend.

“Tenors of Rock,” a group of five powerful singers with a full live band formed in the United Kingdom in 2010, has been thrilling Vegas audiences with its renditions of classic rock songs from the likes of Queen, Bon Jovi, Journey and AC/DC at the Harrah’s Showroom six times a week since January 2017. On Saturday, the show debuts at the Sin City Theater on the mezzanine level at Planet Hollywood, another resort operated by Caesars Entertainment.

Seth Yudof, whose UD Factory has produced the show since June 2017, said “Tenors of Rock” will have a bit of a different feel in the more intimate Planet Hollywood theater.
