    The Universal Domino League, the first official gaming association dedicated so debuted Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, with additional formats, including slot machines and digital applications, coming soon.

    The first of its kind, Casino Dominoes is a fast-paced, easy-to-learn card game, similar to three-card poker or blackjack. Inspired by the classic game of dominoes, Casino Dominoes utilizes up to six players at once. Players are dealt three cards and one connector card each, with the goal of matching their domino cards to the connector card, using standard domino rules. Scoring is calculated in multiples of five. The more points collected, the higher the payout. Players can win up to 500 to 1 on a wager, with the option of placing doubles side bets.

    Currently available as a table game, with additional formats of the game, including slot machines and digital applications for Android and IOS, will be announced shortly.

    Casino Dominoes was designed and created by Harold Moret, Universal Domino League founder and graduate of the renowned UNLV Casino Operations Program, taught by Moret’s mentor, celebrated casino game designer and former Shufflemaster CEO Dr. Marc Yoseloff. With the national success of the Universal Domino League and the introduction of Casino Dominoes, the most innovative and radically new casino game in decades, Moret will become the first African American casino game designer to have a game installed on a casino floor.

    I had a chance to ask Mr. Moret a few questions about this game. Here are his answers to those questions.
    1. How did the idea of transforming this social game of Dominoes into a Casino game materialize?

    The game idea came from hosting domino tournaments throughout the United States, with the Universal Domino League. I quickly realized there were no casino games that infused the classic game of Dominoes and gaming - The American style of Dominoes had never been represented in the casino industry and with the popularity of the game around the world, I felt like it was a void that should be filled. I wanted to make a game that would be familiar to domino players when they play it. It needed to be simple, easy-to-learn and, most importantly, fun.

    I decided to put Dominoes on playing cards to make it compatible with casino game operations. Two years and more than eight revisions later, Casino Dominoes was born. Each player receives three cards and a connector card, with the object of the game being to connect as many of your cards to the connector card as possible. The game play is similar to “Big Six Dominoes,” where you score in multiples of five. The more points the more money you can win, up to 500 to 1. There is also an optional Doubles side bet, where you receive a payout of up to 300 to 1 on your money, if you receive two or more Doubles. The game is simple and fun.

    2. How hard was it to get your idea into the right people in the Casino industry?

    I attended UNLV’s world renowned International Gaming Institute to learn how to not only format, structure and translate my idea to a point where it could be profitable, but how to navigate the gaming industry. My experience at UNLV was truly amazing and I’m grateful for the time I spent there. It gave me the knowledge of how to create great casino game and I’m currently seeking installations and a distribution deal.
    1. How do you personally feel about being the first Afro American game designer to have a game on a casino floor?

    I’m truly humbled, honored and thankful to be the first African American casino game designer. I'm glad I can set an example for people that anything is possible with hard work and dedication. I went back to college at 39 years old with an idea and a dream. Several short years later, I’ve created Casino Dominoes, which is the first truly new, cutting-edge casino table game in more than 50 years; it is not a variation of existing casino favorites. This is a new game in every way.

    Casino Dominoes has the exact house edge as Three Card Poker and up to six players can play more than 50 hands per hour. It’s fun, easy to learn and I'm very excited about this game and it's possibilities around the world. Players love it!

    Britney Spears announces new Las Vegas residency at Park Theater by Mick Akers

    Oops, she did it again.

    Marking her second Las Vegas residency with an over-the-top announcement, Britney Spears proved she fits right in with the entertainment capital of the world.

    The show, "Britney: Domination," will run from February to August at Park Theater at the Park MGM. She played 250 shows during her "Britney: Piece of Me" residency from 2013 to 2017 at Planet Hollywood.

    Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream Wins “Best Magic Show” in Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Best Of Las Vegas Awards

    The Las Vegas Review-Journal has announced the winners of the 2018 “Best of Las Vegas” awards, naming Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Sin City Theatre “Best Magic Show.”

    “There are no words to describe how happy I am to win the ‘Best Of Las Vegas’ award in a category that includes other exceptional magicians,” said Mortimer. “I work with an incredible cast and crew team and we are all thrilled to receive this honor.”

    Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream, now in its second year of production, received the gold award in the category. The other honorees in the “Best Magic Show” category included Piff the Magic Dragon and Mat Franco. Winners were selected through anextensive poll of readers.

    Mortimer’s spellbinding production provides entertainment to international audiences of all ages with a unique mix of reality-defying illusions, whimsical characters, dancing skits and an original soundtrack composed by the former Cirque du Soleil performer and Maxime Rodriquez.

    Xavier Mortimer’s Magical Dream is at 7 p.m. from Saturday through Thursday, with tickets starting at $49 for general admission and $69 for VIP, excluding tax and box office fees.

    Puddles Pity Party - the soft-hearted, 7-foot-tall singing clown - has announced his first-ever artist residency, set for nine unforgettable nights at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. This very special limited engagement at Cleopatra’s Barge kicks off Jan. 17 and extends through Feb. 9, 2019.

    Downtown's Fremont Hotel & Casino To Double in Size by Bradley Martin

    The Boyd Gaming Corp. filed paperwork for a major investment in a six decade old downtown property, effectively doubling its size and possibly kick-starting a spate of new remodels among its Fremont Street rivals.

    Plans call for the Fremont Hotel & Casino to build a 320-foot tall, 509-room hotel tower on the corner of Third Street and Ogden Avenue, the opposite side of the resort’s illuminated Fremont Street Experience main entrance.

    The value-priced venue currently hosts 447 rooms, all planned to be overhauled to become 227 larger and upgraded spaces.

    The ground floor will expand by 22,200 square feet, including 20,700 square feet of new gaming areas, plus a new 700-square-foot bar and a race and sports book. Outside, improvements will be made to guest drop-off and ride-hailing areas, along with substantial additions to the existing parking garage.

    Phased over 30 months of construction, additional upgrades should eventually be expected for the existing casino floor, but the current roster of dining options is not affected by the newly filed plans.

    Legends in Concert’ moving to the Tropicana in 2019 by Brock Radke


    The longest running show on the Las Vegas Strip will have a new home in February. “Legends in Concert,” the celebrity musical tribute that made its Vegas debut in 1983 and currently features impersonations of George Michael, Bruno Mars, Donna Summer and Elvis Presley at the Flamingo, will begin production at the Tropicana in early 2019 at the newly renamed Legends in Concert Theater.

    "This one-of-a-kind show has entertained more than 35 million fans around the globe and its remarkable history on the Strip makes for the perfect partnership where two legends in Las Vegas come together,” said Aaron Rosenthal, vice president and general manager at the Trop. “The addition of 'Legends in Concert' to our entertainment lineup demonstrates Penn National Gaming’s ongoing commitment to make the experience at Tropicana better than ever.”

    For evidence of the enduring popularity of the music of Brothers Gibb look no further than The Australian Bee Gees Show, primarily starring Michael Clift as Barry, Wayne Hosking as Maurice and David Scott as Robin (there’s a rotating cast). The tribute to the hitmakers of the ’60s and disco kings of the ’70s has been staying alive in Las Vegas since 2011, benefiting from the performers’ ongoing reverence for the music and the endless enthusiasm audiences have for the Bee Gees’ songs.

    Scott, to his advantage, was playing in bands shortly after the Bee Gees, who scored ’60s pop hits such as “Massachusetts” and “To Love Somebody,” returned to the charts in the mid-’70s with a disco sound. “When I was 18 in 1978, Saturday Night Fever came out,” he says. Scott recalls he didn’t know much about their early material at the time. “I was playing guitar in heavy rock bands at that time, like Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Foghat. All of that kind of stuff. When the Bee Gees came out it was such a transformation sound. No one had heard that before, and it even turned our heads as hard rock guys.”

    Osmond says Donny & Marie Las Vegas show is done in 2019 by John Katsliometes

    Not sure if Donny Osmond is a fan of “This is Spinal Tap,” but today he said of the Donny & Marie show, “This one goes to 11.”

    And no further.

    Osmond, during an appearance on KTNV Channel 13’s “Morning Blend” show, issued the startling announcement that Donny & Marie would end their run at Flamingo Las Vegas in 2019. The duo just re-signed their contract last month, adding an 11th year at the hotel, and that contract ends in November 2019.

    “Next year is our final year,” Osmond told co-hosts J.J. Snyder and Shawn Tempesta. “We’ve been talking about it for quite a while, but definitely, our countdown has started.” Osmond also told Midday host Dayna Rosellithe same thing as Roselli recorded him on an Instagram story.

    Fall has arrived and the Bellagio Conservatory in Las Vegas went all out

    Bust out your fall sweaters and grab a PSL, the best time of the year is upon us. But the most important thing of all, is the seasonal transformation of the Bellagio Conservatory. They renovated the space with a 24-foot talking tree, 25-foot long tigers and a whopping 45,000 flowers that are put into all of these beautiful sculptures throughout the exhibit. Oh, and did we mention that this is a free attraction in Las Vegas? Stroll through one of the most beautiful fall exhibits on the Las Vegas Strip and take a few selfies with your favorite fairy to post on the ‘gram. We’ll even throw in a free show at the Bellagio Fountains afterward. It’s time to jump into the fall leaves at the Bellagio Conservatory.

    Freed's Dessert Shop Grand Opening in Northwest Las Vegas



    Freed’s Bakery, the popular bakery and subject of Food Network’s hit show, “Vegas Cakes,” celebrated the grand opening of its new location in Northwest Las Vegas, Freed’s Dessert Shop on Saturday, Oct. 6.

    Family and managers, Max Jacobson-Fried, Joani Fried and Sarah Fusco, were joined by Commissioner Marilyn Kirkpatrick for a ceremonial ribbon cutting. The District B representative welcomed Freed’s Bakery’s newest location with a proclamation and ‘Welcome to the City’ certificates.

    Guests indulged in Freed’s treats including complimentary signature cupcakes and the dessert shop’s famous strawberry shortcake. Attendees explored the new location and posed for photos in a photo booth, vied for cake during a traditional cake walk and participated in raffle giveaways.

    EATALY LAS VEGAS OPENS AT PARK MGM THIS DECEMBER


    Eataly, the authentic Italian marketplace, announced today it will open its Las Vegas location at Park MGM, the city’s newest resort, in December 2018. Las Vegas marks the sixth U.S. location of the Italy-based company, which has more than 35 stores worldwide.

    The 40,000-square-foot culinary destination, located directly on the famed Las Vegas Strip, will serve as Park MGM’s main entrance and feature unique food counters, bars, cafes and dining experiences offering traditional Italian food in a vibrant ambiance.     BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas Will Shoot to Score Throughout Basketball Season

    Sammy Hagar’s Strip-side rocking cantina will get the party ‘startled’ with the ‘Once Bitten’ cocktail, created with Bacardi Cuatro, St. Germain, ginger beer, lime juice, swirled with blood orange puree.     Cipriani Opens First West Coast Location in November 2018

    Cipriani, the iconic Italian institution, is set to make its anticipated Las Vegas debut at Wynn Plaza at Wynn Las Vegas in November 2018.     Downtown Pizzeria Gets a New Look by Susan Stappleton



    Pop Up Pizza, one of the first gourmet pizza restaurants in Downtown Las Vegas, now has a new mural influenced by Brooklyn. The pizzeria at the Plaza now has a mural from local mixed media artist SNIPT, as well as a renovated seating area.

    That mural titled “The New Style” comes at the hands of Derek Douglas, professionally known as SNIPT, a Las Vegas-based artist who has become best known for creating mixed media Pop Art mashups. The mural’s title references one of the artist’s favorite tracks from the Beastie Boys’ “Licensed To Ill” album.

    “The song embodies the vibe that I was trying to capture while creating this mural,” SNIPT says in a press statement. “With the rebranding of Pop Up Pizza, ‘The New Style’ is going to be what really makes this restaurant stand out from the rest. I’m thrilled to be a part of this transition.”

    ‘Pawn Star’ Rick Harrison Welcomes His Newest Tenant by Bradley Martin

    Rick Harrison’s Pawn Plaza has a brand new casual dining option and unlike its predecessors, it will be open for longer hours, serving up a menu of slow-roasted chicken, “authentic” Mexican choices, and a “house special,” the “cheeseshell taco” prepared with a choice of meat and a queso shell.

    Replacing the shuttered, Smoke’s Poutinerie and Jared’s Old Fashioned Hot Dogs & Hamburgers, Q’rico offers some quick and affordable dining for fans visiting the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop.

    On the menu, the $3.25 Q’Rico Taco with its cheese shell, plus bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and burritos priced between $3.25 and $10, three fish tacos with salad, rice and beans topped with mango sauce available for $12 and rotisserie chicken lunch specials, including a whole chicken cut into quarters, with two side dishes.

    Water Street Revival Looms with Three More Restaurants En Route by Bradley Martin

    One of the busiest revivals in the region is taking place on the southern end of Henderson’s Water Street and paperwork has been filed for two major projects that will add housing, retail, and three new restaurants.

    Overseen by the same operators, the changes will overhaul the empty lot at 31 Water Street and the long-shuttered Henderson Town House Motor Lodge next door.

    The current plan is to add retail and businesses to the motel space and build a second-floor restaurant and bar above the barbershop and former tavern on the ground floor.

    On the parking lot footprint, a six-story building will be constructed, with 32 apartments and two more restaurants. The early proposal calls for one of the tenants to operate a “hot dog” concept.

    The two sites are opposite the proposed UNLV Runnin’ Rebels-inspired Hardway 8 bar, a short distance from the substantial makeover at the Gold Mine Tavern, close to the soon-to-debut Juan’s Flaming Fajitas & Cantina and a quarter of a mile from the announced Flavor Flav’s & Vinnys Chicken & Pizza.

    Now that the new sports book
    had debuted at The Linq, attention has turned to the next phase of upgrades on the western side of the casino floor.

    Earlier
    called The Bar at Linq and renamed Match Bar on new paperwork, the restaurant will replace the existing walls facing Las Vegas Boulevard with sliding glass doors. The remodel will create a large dining and drinking area with a shaded outdoor patio right on the Strip, a few steps from the pedestrian entrance to the Promenade.

    While construction work has yet to begin on the bar project, on the Linq Promenade, the French restaurant originally known as
    Chez Marcel has been re-dubbed La Favorite Bistro, a sequel to the original on Paris’ Rue de Rivoli.

    In the works since June,a major overhaul at Treasure Island has created the newest buffet on the Strip, the 12,575-square-foot Corner Market Buffet, opening its doors today.

    Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, emphasis is being placed on new international flavors and the ability to order “unlimited drinks” for an extra $14.99 per visit, including wine, beer, sparking wine, mimosas, and access to the “Bloody Mary bar.”

    Friday to Sunday, from 4 to 10 p.m., the $35.45 weekend seafood dinner becomes the evening attraction, with a $30.45 Champagne brunch offered from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m, on Saturday and Sunday.


    Red Plate, the Cosmopolitan’s new Cantonese restaurant, now has an opening date at the resort. On Oct. 15, the restaurant opens for dinner with dishes from executive chef Yip Cheung, the former chef at the resort’s Talon Club.

    The menu features fine-dining dishes such as a whole Peking duck, Sichuan spicy tofu, black truffle xiao long bao, and live seafood, including geoduck, rock cod, Alaskan king crab, Dungeness crab, and Maine lobster, according to Food & Wine. Dim sum, barbecue dishes, and hot pot make the menu as well.

    The boozy, never-closed Taco Bell Cantinaat the Strip’s Harmon Corner has proven to be such a huge success that the restaurant is expanding downtown, moving under the Fremont Street Experience canopy and taking over part of the historic former home of the El Portal Theatre.

    Originally planned to be called
    the Fremont Food Emporium,with a handful of fast-casual tenants, the cantina will take over 6,000 square feet inside the 16,564-square-foot building.

    Keeping the wide open to Fremont Street design first proposed by the emporium, cantina diners can travel directly upstairs via a brightly lit escalator, or sit downstairs and watch the food prepared in the open kitchen.

Going hand-in-hand with the meaty steak dinner, guests can shoot back the bourbon flight, made up of four 1-ounce pours of premium bourbons: Woodford Reserve, Angel’s Envy, Four Roses Single Barrel and Old Forester, priced at $29. Those looking to sip on something smoky, can choose the Smoke and Mirrors cocktail, made with barrel-aged mix of Templeton rye whiskey, St. George Bruto Americano and Punt e Mes, garnished with orange peel and a cherry. To complete the cocktail with a bold, smoked taste, the cocktail is placed in a smoke box for approximately 15 seconds with hickory chips.
