Joel Robouchons for mere mortals

Has any member ever had the sixteen course meal at Joel Robouchons restaurant at the MGM it sounds lovely but it costs quite a lot is it possible for a mere mortal to eat all this because I would hate to order it and be full half way through and waste it or should I just opt for the six course or be mean and split it with the wife.

I've never had it. I know on the daily menu-board outside the entrance they often offer a (as you said) a SIX COURSE. That sucker is $250 according to the website. I'm wondering if small things (like a side of veggies) is a 'course' .. or could a beverage be a 'course'? You never know. The place has rec'd awards that no other restaurant in the whole state can claim. Well, i have to go (i hear a MEGABUCKS machine calling out my name... if it's a wrong number, well... i'll have to pass on dinner tonite). LOL. misterKeno

I have not been to Joel Robochon yet so this answer is a general statement about tasting menus. 1st the number of courses is usually understated as items like the amuse bouche will not be counted as a course nor will bread and multiple deserts will count as one course. 2nd the courses will very in size from 2-3 bites to a smallish entre size. It is common for soup to be a very small course sometimes a spoon full but more typical is about a shot glass. To answer they main question of can you do 16 courses? Yes as long as you are able to finish a 16 oz steak with potato and salad. We did one tasting menu that stopped at 24 courses, it was one that the chef just kept cooking until you cried uncle. The best part of the tasting menus is trying things that you would never order a full order of to try for the first time, my two biggest being Kobe and Foie Gras

I ate at Joel Robuchon a couple of years ago, and thought it was great. At the time, it was the best meal I'd ever had. Since then, there's one meal that I've enjoyed more, but Robuchon still wins purely in terms of food. Yes, 16 courses is a lot of food, even though the portions are small. However, dinner should take somewhere between 3 and 4 hours, giving you time to digest food as you go.
