Default Renting A Car

We've been going to LV from Canada for 20 years but have never rented a car and have never done any sightseeing before, believe it or not. Actually one time in the 80's we were down for 4 days and never left the Sahara!!! LOL While we are down this July for our everything.lv slot tourney I booked Harrahs for 2 days in Laughlin following the tournie. I was told the day trip (bus) will not allow us to go down one day and come back 2 days later so I guess we will rent a car. How do we go about this? We are staying at the Imperial Palace and an economical car would be just snazzy enough for us. Thanks for any advice.

If you don't need a car while in Vegas, just get one at the hotel. I'm not sure if the IP has a rental station there, but Harrahs next door does - Hertz/Avis?? not sure which.

If you need one for the entire trip, best bet is to get on line and look at the various companies and book on line. Dollar and Thrifty usually have good rates.

To compare prices check out the following:

http://www.carrentals.com/

I would also recommend re-checking as prices tend to go up and down on a fairly regular basis. If the prices move down, just cancel the original reservation and rebook.

I check all the rates and then usually go with hotwire.com. They've beaten the major companies every time.

The ACG has car rental discount coupons and great Las Vegas coupons to compliment. Southwest airlines has great discounts if you are a rewards member which can also get you a free roundtrip airfare after accumulating a few points. Check online for discount codes also for different car rental companies. Many posters of forums will post discount codes also. Good Luck!
