Default Happy Halloween

Char and I were looking forward to this trip for a long while even though I was
experiencing a bout with sciatica that was so bad I was considering cancelling. Then I thought the Vegas atmosphere would ease the pain and
off we went.
Day 1. Friday morning, 10/30/09 we arrived at Newark Liberty Airport and checked in at Continental and got our boarding passes. As usual, I set off the
alarm, this time with my belt buckle. We took off on time and landed in Vegas
at 11:30am. Bell Transport shuttle to the IP and checked in. Got room 4123
which was the same room we had the previous trip. Right away we noticed the tub and toilet would gurgle if you opened the faucet on the sink. Just like
it did the previous trip. So much for maintenance. We checked the mattress for bedbugs and then unpacked. It was off to the Mirage for coffee and cheese danish then to the Video Poker machines. No luck, so we walked around the casino and tried some of our favorites with no luck, so we went
back to the IP and tried their progressive VP and started to hit. Char was getting straights, flushes and 3 of a kind and giving me the business about
trouncing my score, when I got the Royal Flush in clubs for $1,054. and a
short time later 4 aces worth 800 credits. We cashed our tickets and headed to the roulette table where Char played our New Jersey lottery numbers as
usual. She hit her number 10 out of 14 spins and when she turned over 8
quarter chips to me, the banker, I told her to cash out. We just made another
$200.00. After a snack, went across the street and into the Forum Shops
on our way to Caesars. I wanted to surprise her with a gift because I had
come into a large amount of money and brought some with me. We entered
Louie Vittone's and I looked at some pocketbooks which happen to be Char's
weakness. I figured it would be a Louie this time instead of a Coach. That
is until the clerk gave me the price of $2,200.00. I offered her half that price
and she just laughed. On to Caesars where we tried a few machines without
any luck. My leg was hurting so I limped back to the IP and back to our room
so I could lay down. Char went down to play Let It Ride and after 2 hours
returned with a profit of $300.00. My leg was killing me but we were making
money.
Day 2 started out with breakfast in bed. We finally went downstairs and hit
a few machines. Win a little and lose a little. Then it was back to the roulette
table where I sat in the background as Char did her numbers. She was
absolutely amazing hitting 18 out of 24 spins with those 8 numbers, getting
2 quarter chips on every win that I stashed in my pocket. I had to drag her away from the table to go to the cashier where I cashed the 36 quarter chips
for $900.00. On to Harrah's for lunch and then back to the room to rest.
I wasn't too thrilled about putting on a costume and walking around with my
leg hurting so bad. But, this was Halloween and my birthday so I grit my
teeth and continued on. We hung around Carnival Court for several hours
in that crowd and it was the biggest crowd yet and we have been coming to
Halloween Vegas for the past 10 years. The King and Queen of Hearts posed
with a lot of people, but no one mentioned ELV, although we told the membership via the web site several times. At 11pm we called it a night and
went back to the room.
Day 3 We planned to catch the morning bus to Sam's Town at Harrah's at 9:30am. We had forgot to turn our watches back an hour and we sat at the
bus top blaming the bus driver for being late until someone reminded us of the time change. Breakfast was great and the machinese were terrible. The
only thing of interest was the fact that in 30 minutes of play on a Wheel of
Fortune machine, I hit the spin symbol 15 times and each time it landed on
25 or 20 with the exception of one time for 100 credits. An hour passed and
we were on the bus back to IP. In September Char had a dream of hitting a
jackpot on a Blazing 7 machine at the Barbary Coast, which is now Bill's
Gambling Hall. I still carried a written reminder about her dream, so we walked
to Bills to find that there were no Blazing 7's in the reel version, only 2 machines of the electronic type, the type I don't like. Char dumped a $20.
in each machine to satisfy herself with no luck. Back to the IP and get some
snacks to watch TV. End of Day 3.

Day 4 we planned a trip to Laughlin but my leg said "NO". Had breakfast at
Tropical Breeze in Flamingo and we walked around looking for that "cigar"
machine one of the members talked about. We found it and put in a $100.
bill and after 5 spins, the 5X symbol appeared with 7's on both sides. It was
a $500. hit so we took the ticket and cashed out. Back to the IP and roulette
table. Char hit the first six spins, missed the next two and hit the next 4
numbers. That was 20 more quarter chips in my pocket as I once again
dragged her away from the table. We had never experienced such luck as we
did so far. 20 quarter chips paid $500. Back to our room to lay down and
change clothes. Took a cab downtown to see the light show and have steak
dinner at Binions. Cab dropped us at Golden Nugget and we walked through
to Fremont St. and Char said lets play the Big Berth by the entrance door.
There was a crowd and a line, most only putting in one dollar to watch the
reels spin. My turn came and the crowd was watching as I put in a $100. bill
and on the 5th spin I turned to talk to Char and the crowd started to clap.
3 triple bars came out and Char hit the cash out button. I won $300. and
there was $85. in the machine, so $385. in those big coins started falling out.
Char started to give 5 coins to each of the young people who were celebrating with us as if they had won. Eight young persons each were given
$5.00 in coins so they could play. We took the buckets of coins for redemption and then proceeded to Binions for filet mignon dinner. When we
left, we had to fight the crowd of thousands of young Spanish people there
to listen to a Grammy winning music group. We finally jumped on a bus to get
out of there and returned to the IP. Char lost a couple hundred on the craps
table and I won a hundred on a Wild Cherry machine. Then it was back to the
roulette table where Char went cold and lost $200. I gained half of that loss back on a video poker machine and decided I had enough gambling, so it was
time to go to sleep. Stopped at the Cashier cage and opened my box to get
my fanny pack. I came with 16K and never touched the pack so it was a good
trip going home with the same money we came with. All we did was spend the money we won.

Day 5 we got up and packed before heading to the airport. We had an hour
before boarding so I tried my luck on a Haywire machine. Got double bars
across the payline so I decided to cashout, but the machine did not cooperate. There was no more paper to print a ticket and the attendant told
me she would have to call someone and she could not pay me without the printed ticket. After 30 minutes I abandoned the machine and boarded the plane. I guess the attendant picked up my winnings, Viva Las Vegas.

Loved the report, Richie. Very exciting wins for both of you!! You might try the Louis Vuitton website to buy the purse. I'm sure they don't compete with their stores but they might have a larger selection on line and you could find something for less than $2k (too rich for my blood as well). As for the sciatica, I have that too. I feel it more when I stand still for extended periods, rather than walking. Went to a chiropractor and he gave me a nice adjustment and I have had very few problems since. If it gets uncomfortable, I just get another adjustment.

Thank you for sharing the adventure.

Fun report & great wins for you two. You were a trooper to be walking around with sciatic pain. I bet you guys looked cute in your K & Q of hearts costumes. (do you have any photos to post?) We had a Halloween party years ago & one couple did that, too. She made the costumes & they were great looking. Good to hear you had a great time inspite of the pain.

Okay I am finally getting to everyone's Trip Reports. Great TR!!! Boy can I relate to a leg problem oh yeah!!! WOW talk about lucky on Roulette - awesome awesome and that is not easy - that is one of the highest return games to the Casino profit wise - CONGRATS on all your wins - right on!!!

I am glad you were able to enjoy Halloween at least a little bit!! I bet the costumes were something to behold! On the Blaz 7s maybe have to find a different Casino to dream about - love the story though!

It is great did not have to use your own money - awesome - wish I could have said that at this last trip - oh well next time.

Thanks for the TR!!!

My girlfriend likes Chanel. But I needed to get myself out of trouble for kinda forgetting about Valentine's Day. If it's any concellation, Nevada's sales tax is 7%, a little below that for Los Angeles, so you can save money buying stuff in Nevada if your sales tax is high at home.

And for those who care, the Costco in New York (somewhere in Manhattan) is carrying some Chanel and Louis Vuitton handbags. I have a feeling that their selection isn't very good.
