I think we all need to be very careful over the next year when booking rooms. Make sure you get a printout of the total cost before you go and bring it with you. That way if they do try to charge you more, you have a very strong foot to stand on.
5 Years ago when I stayed at the Trop., they tried to hard sell you an upgrade at check-in. I expect things like this may become more common.

I hate to burst your bubble, but regardless of how many printouts you take with you, you have NO foot to stand on regarding the tax rate change.
Taxes are charged at the time the service is rendered, not when you make the reservation. The hotel can only quote the rate at the time the reservation is made but wil rightfully charge you the rate in effect when you are there. |
