I think we all need to be very careful over the next year when booking rooms. Make sure you get a printout of the total cost before you go and bring it with you. That way if they do try to charge you more, you have a very strong foot to stand on.
5 Years ago when I stayed at the Trop., they tried to hard sell you an upgrade at check-in. I expect things like this may become more common.

I'm quite sure you paid the tax increase. Since it is a city tax, it's not a hotel charge and the hotel has no obligation to "honor" the tax rate that was in effect at the time you booked or checked in. They're just following the law and collecting money on behalf of the city. |
