My question for those who have stayed at both places...do I jump on the offer from Excalibur, or do I stick with my maiden voyage at the Monte Carlo?

I got an e-mail last day or two saying they're opening a couple of new restaurants at the MC right around now. One is Italian. The other might be an updated version of their brew pub.

We just stayed at MC Oct 27-28.
The Pub was open, and serving huge hamburgers. The fresh cut fries were good while hot, but turned to mush as they cooled.
d.vino was not opened yet, but will take the space where Market city Cafe was.
The newly remodeled Asian place was doing a booming business!
We went to Diablo's for app's and drinks. Very crowded.

Casino people look suicidal, its dark, one dealer kept tallking about his traffic ticket like we were really interested

Stay away unless you're thinking about a morgue for a change of pace

The Monte Carlo didn't quite do it for me.There was a scoche of the old elegance here and there. It was probably better years ago. I wasn't happy with the dice tables. I need a warm and fuzzy feeling, and it just wasn't there. I would like to see the Burton magic show, however.

Default Depends on what you're looking for

Buddies of Mr. Magic stayed at MC this summer and loved it!

We thought it was a mess at the time - terrible traffic due to City Center construction, shopping area past the brew pub under construction, etc.

But since then, most of this has been resolved (or certainly will be by the time you visit). The Brewpub has reopened, I believe under a new name.

And hubby's buddies liked it enough that they're planning on booking it for another visit in February.

One thing that made the stay great for them this summer is the deal I found for them, great low rates with tons of freebies - pretty much made the stay free with all the free meals, free drinks coupons, etc. they received at checkin.

They are a mixed group of 50 somethings, with a couple younger guys. One of the younger guys was a Vegas virgin. They all enjoyed it, but none of them are super partying types.

It depends what you're looking for!

We are 50 somethings too, and it was just right for us, not crazy busy, but
busier than our previous trips. One thing i don't like is the strong, dunno what it is, scent that hits you the second you walk into the lobby.
