    Default Quick Trip Jan 22-25

We left home around 9:30 am and drove to South Bend Indiana for 1:30 flight on Allegiant Had an hour delay(sitting on plane) while they called in a machanic(why are they not onsite I have no idea) to check a guage that was not working properly.
We arrived at 3:30pm and we were in a taxi to the Monte Carlo in no time. Had VIP check in(I did not know this and went to regular desks, she said "Mrs Ager we have you all taken care of in the VIP Lounge") Got a 18th floor strip view, now let me say this about that, the rooms are in the towers at the back of the property so we had to look over the whole roof of casino towards the strip. Also watched them put up the sign on building of City Center, Mandrain, by that night it was lit up already.
Room was clean and neat and beds were comfortable (not used much though)
This was an unexpected and last minute trip for us and our shortest trip ever. 3 nights comped w/$100 food/store credit. Airfare total was $372.40 w/one piece of luggage. Couldn't pass it up
Goals for this trip were few as we only had 2 full days. Encore opened since our June visit, So we checked it out. I agree w/most on here, Its nice, but for me it was nothing special/exciting, another fancy new casino. I had not been to Hooters yet so we also visited there. What I like about it is its not so dark inside, same decore as thier resturants, even the cocktail waitresses dress in the orange shorts and t-shirt, I had to laugh when I heard a lady tell her SO that they were not going into Hooters so he could look at womens chests (they have more on/covered than most cocktail servers at other casinos). Did the $100 free play for sign up and won nothing. Overall I did like it here and found a few machines that let me play for a while and left after few hours with $30 more than I went in with.
The only other thing I wanted to do was go to where the Earthcams are and call daughters at home. That was a hoot. The girls thought it was so cool to see us in LV. (funny thing our neighbor called us last night to say our picture is posted in the Hall of Fame archives-we looked-Yep there we are, I am talking on phone to daughter and hubby is holding his Bud light...lol) If you leave kids/grandkids at home this is so cool to do
We played alot of machines at several casinos and did not hit any big payouts, largest was $125 for husband on quarters at Slots-of-Fun. I can not believe that this place still has a full crowd with all the other options there are. This was only place that the coins still spill out. You can not put coin in though. I thought I missed this when everyone went to tickets, NOT it is quite a hassle.
Husband and I like all the new casinos however, we also love the "Old" the foundation that Las Vegas was built on. Its sad to see them all go down and we fear the few remaining "old timers" will be gone too soon. We were Stardust homies and of course played alot at that end of the strip, so we visit them when we go. This time we were so sad to see the decline. We had never seen the Riv so unkept. Not that its been a fancy place for a long time, it just has history. Prety soon there will be no places left that the legends spent time in.
We did see Big Elvis at Bill's that was actually pretty entertaining.
I did a little shopping at Hooters and M&M world, I have 3 grandbabies comming this year and had to have "special Vegas" stuff that only this Grandma gives
Also another thing I learned on this trip:We were staying at the MC however we could go to any MGM/Mirage property and charge to our room at MC. Very convient!
The worst part of trip was the flight time out.... 6:30am... we made it back in 2 1/2hrs. Temp when we landed was 3 degrees... what a reality slap that is... lol
now I am planning next trip:July 2nd through the 10th for ELV slot tournament, hope to see lots of ELV family then!

We are old Stardust fans as well. So sorry to see that place go and even worse to see construction halted on Echelon Place. Thanks for an entertaining read!

Thanks for the report. I wish I still had an option to fly Allegiant. I flew direct on Allegiant from Gulfport MS once, then they cancelled that route. Don't you just love Big Elvis? He puts on a great show. I always go by Bill's to see him. You did a lot for the few days that you were there. Good luck on your next trip. I wish I could attend the slot tourney, but work gets in the way.
