    Default MGM Rooms

We are booked in the Grand Tower at the MGM -- I know these are the cheapest rooms -- will we still be happy there? Never stayed at the MGM -- have stayed many other places -- this is one place I've always wanted to stay at and couldn't refuse the great deal.
Thanks for anyone's help -- Anne

I stayed there on my first trip to vegas in 2001 and it was just fine. That is the tower closest to the strip right? we liked it because you step off the elevator and are very close to the door out to the strip.

It's not fantastic, but it was clean and we had no complaints, I always stay at Harrahs now bc I like the location, but I would have no prob going back to MGM

Looks like that was the 'West Wing'...not the Grand Tower. The West Wing rooms are left over from the Marina.

All the Grand Tower rooms are fine..they are bigger that the West Wing rooms. They are showing a little wear and tear, but acceptable.

are you sure? I thought that part was in the back. We were in the rooms where the elevator was just down from the Rainforest Cafe and if you came off the elevators there was a set of double doors that took you out to by the coca cola store/tickets 2nite.

I thought it was called the emerald tower or something like that, but it's been a while

I've stayed in both the Grand Tower (twice) and the Emerald Tower (once), but that was 6 - 7 years ago. The Grand Tower was very nice, but my room in the Emerald Tower was horrible. We checked in at the airport (have not done that since), and requested a non-smoking room. What we got was a room that had a horrible smell of smoke, was very dark, and overlooked the delivery entrance. Hopefully they have renovated the Emerald Tower by now.

The West Wing rooms are, indeed, the old Marina rooms. The were rennovated COMPLETELY about 2 years ago which is when they renamed them the West Wing. I haven't seen them in person, but the photos look really nice. I understand that they are smaller than the Tower rooms.

If you look at the building, you can see these architectually. They are the lower rooms on the wing reaching out towards the strip. Then, they built stepbacks on top of that wing connecting it all the way up to the top of the new north and south towers.

As far as the Tower rooms go, the one I had in February '06 was fine. It was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Nicely decorated, although some of the original finishes (brass faucets, etc) were showing some wear.

My wife and I stayed at the MGM in Sept. 2001 and had a great room overlooking the part of the strip and the million dollar palace. We will be staying at the MGM this year. Make sure you take your walking shoes since the MGM is a huge casino to walk in.
