Thread: Vegas Calendar

  1. Default Vegas Calendar

I have made about three dozen visits to vegas over the last ten years; I earn a few comps from my 25 cent VP and red chip table play, but nobody really fawns over me since the Lady Luck closed. I get the 'calendar rate' post cards from at least ten hotels. My next trip date was pretty much chosen by when I could get the time off work, third week in May. Since booking it I have received a post card from the Harrah's properties offering free rooms at rio and ballys for the weeks before and after my trip. I have checked the LVCVA calendar to avoid the big conventions, but is there any rhyme or reason to when the cheapest rooms can be had?

    not no or double no...

When the temperature breaks 110...rooms get dirt cheap!

June-September (and to a degree through Columbus Day) is generally the dirt cheap room days baring any convention or holiday

I have heard that between Thanksgiving and Christmas the rooms are cheap ... haven't ever been tho.

  6. Default cheapest week before Christmas

We've found that the few days just before Christmas to be dirt cheap.. and not crowded at all. We got a spa suite at NYNY for $89/night. Flights weren't bad either.

The only problem we had when during our trip in December was that many of the shows were black and bars/entertainment venues were closed. We still managed to have a great time, but it would have been nice to see a show.

You are so right, Pam. We found that to be true.

If there is a show you really want to see, you should probably check to see if it is going to be black if you plan to go during Dec. If not, it's a great time to go. We get a kick out of seeing locals wear parkas, gloves, scarves and hats in 60* weather. Here in WI/MN that is down right balmy.

If you really are getting mail from ten different joints then I think you should reconsider your strategy. Concentrate your play into the joints where you want to stay. Better yet just pick out one casino from each group like MGM/Mirage, HET, Stations or Boyds.

Have you checked your Total Rewards/Reservations options for your preferred dates? You don't need an offer to survey the nation for deals.

Thanks, Bluestreak, I have decided to narrow my options after my last trip. I normally stay downtown (still mourning the Lady Luck) and have stayed at Gold Coast when I want to be close to the strip. I like the casino odds and the comps at Gold Coast, but the drink service at the tables is abominable. My last stay it took thirty-five minutes to get a beer while playing craps, and the waitress was single-handedly making three different circuits serving drinks. I am sure that the management had to be aware of the problem and chose not to correct it. I recocognized the same overworked cocktail waitress from my stay a year earlier. I am going to stay at Hooter's for a second time next week, with 9/7 double bonus they probably have the best VP available on or near the Strip.
