Thread: Hows the Excalibur??

  1. Wink Hows the Excalibur??

Havnt stayed here before, but we got $75 rate for the weekend at the NFR in Dec, including some 2 for 1 coupons for meals and shows and spa, so we booked it. Are the rooms OK? Is there a specific tower to request so we are closer to the strip, and dont have to walk half way across the property to get out. Is the buffet ok?? Let me know if you have had any experiences there, good or bad. Thanks.

    Default So-so

Lots of kids running around. Casino is a little confusing to get around in. However, is connected to Luxor which is connected to Mandalay Bay. Makes for lots of options for gambling, food, etc. Haven't stayed there, so don't know about hotel, but have gambled there. Machines seemed loose. Won $350.00 on quarter machine and saw some else win $500 on quarter machine just minutes later. Everyone seemed to get a lot of play time whether winning or not. Would like to go back to play, but can't convince hubby because he didn't win.

We usually stay at the Excal. It's connected to the Luxor, Mandalay bay and the Monte Carlo by tram. Yes there are lots of kids in the Jester court. But not in the Casino. They really keep a good watch on parents who let their kids stay in the halls of the Casino. I saw someone actually get escourted out, because she was on the slots, while her 4 kids were laying on the floor near a rest room. I do like the security. There are guards at every elevator entrance and they DO check ID's. The breakfast stinks, go to the Luxor, they have a wonderful breakfast. The dinner buffet is average. Good pealed shrimp, roast beef is also good. They have good deserts, pastries and ice cream. Rooms are clean. Halls a kind of dark, but it follows the mid century theme.

It doesn't really matter which tower you stay in, the exit is between the towers. Have always liked it at the Excal as there are security guards posted by the elevators,so if you can't show them a room key, you can't access the elevators. I have found that the slots are relatively loose compared to other strip properties. Comps are pretty good also.

The security guards are there 24/7. I never worry about strangers going up to the rooms. Even if they remember your face, they will ask you to show your room key.

We like the slots there also. Unfortunately, last visit, I got hungry around 3 am, and my husband & I went for a burger. When we returned all the bells were going off. The slot he was playing all night hit for a brand new car. I think it was a BMW.

We have stayed here for the last 5 years the first week of Dec. and there are very few kids at that time of year. In fact, I don't remember seeing any. Just lots of cowboys.
