Thread: Japanese Restaurants

  1. Default Japanese Restaurants

    Will be in Vegas in a couple weeks. We are already planning on eating at favorites....Wynn Buffet, Delmonicos, Mon Ami Gabe, maybe Sterling Brunch. Always like to try one new place. We are thinking Japanese just for something different. Anyone know anything about Okada at the Wynn or Hamada which I think is at the Flamingo? Open for suggestions. We would prefer to have it located on strip. Maybe we are missing a niche........have steak, buffet, brunch, so want something other than those cusines. Get plenty of Chinese and Mexican on other trips. Thanks for advice!

    The only Japanese Restaurant I have eaten at was Beni-Hana's at The Las Vegas Hilton. The preperation show was very good but I did not like how the courses were served. The last item you got was the main dish. (Steak-Chicken-Fish) By the time you got those, that was the only thing left to eat ....alone.

    If you go to the SEARCH option we have at the Forums and type in "Japanese" you can read all the restaurant reviews that have been posted.

    If you or any members go to the Sterling Brunch make sure you introduce yourself to Ilario, the Matre D. Mention myself and the newsletter.

    If you're looking for sushi, Okada is the best place is town. Sit at the sushi bar, talk to the friendly chefs, and you'll have a great time! Okada also has an excellent tasting menu (mostly non-sushi). For details of my dozen or so meals there, see my review at http://home.comcast.net/~lasvegasvac...ide_Okada.html.

    I've eaten at Hamada a few times, but not in the last couple of years. The first meal I had was at the branch at the Luxor, since closed. It was pretty good. The next time I ate at the branch (also now closed, I think) at the Hawaiian Marketplace. It was pretty disappointing. I've never tried the one at the Flamingo.
    My take on restaurants, outdoor activities, and who knows what else at http://home.comcast.net/~lasvegasvacation/.

    Japanese is a bit vauge but lets give this a try (please excuse any spelling errors). For tapenyaki (table top cooking) there is Beni-Hana's at The Las Vegas Hilton. For sushi go to Little Budda at Palm's or Tao at the Venetian. For modern Japanese go to Nabu (Hard Rock), Japonais (Mirage) or Social House (TI). The Sushi at Tao is great the rest of the food is OK.

    I have not eaten at Okada so it may be great as well. I would highly recommend Shintaro at the Bellagio and Japonais at the Mirage.

    Other ethnic cuisine you seem to be missing:

    Thai = Lotus of Siam
    Malaysian = Satay or Penang
    Cuba = Florida Cafe or Cuba Cafe
    Peruvian = Inka Si Senor
    Brazilian = Rincon de Buenos Aires
    Dim Sum = Ping Pang Pong or Cathay House
    Indian = India Palace
    Nepali = Himalyan Cuisine
    Middle Eastern = Paymon's or Chandelier
    Japanese = Sapporo

    For one of the top ten restaurants in the city, you really cant go wrong with NOBU, im not a big sushi person but they have such a wide variety of dishes, as long as a pretty good steak for non-seafood people, as well as a great environment, you feel like you are at the best party in town when you eat there on a saturday night
