    Backstage tour of Jubilee

We took the backstage tour of Jubilee on Wed. June 14th. It was lead by a cast member, a male dancer Wade Able. At first I was disappointed we did not get a showgirl but Wade did a great job. He was very thorough, answered all our questions in great detail.

The one-hour tour lasted an hour and 20 minutes. Questions ranged from show details, training, auditions, to employment conditions at Harrah's, benefits, work schedule of six days a week and arranging time off.

If you have seen the show, playing for 25 years, you already know the customs by Bob Mackie (think Cher) are outrageous. Standing in the dressing rooms and looking them over was a treat. We saw million dollar sets for the Titanic, learned about the living curtain (it can support the weight of the cast on the moving scenery) that comes down from the top of the theater and the three levels beneath the stage.

Well worth the $10 price with purchase of show ticket, otherwise it is $15. The tour is offered Monday Wednesday and Saturday currently at 11:00 while ‘The Price Is Right’ uses the same theater in the afternoons.

If you want a photo with a showgirl, after the show at 9:10 P.M. and 12:10 A.M. some cast members pose at the Indigo Lounge, near the passageway to Paris.

Thanks for the heads up on this activity. Where do you buy tix for the tour. At the box office?

I've seen Jubilee twice but haven't yet done the Backstage tour. Sounds interesting.

THANKS Sandra...good report. I've tried twice to take the tour.
Both times it was canceled due to not enough folks signed up.
    3's a charm...I'll try again on Saturday, July 22.
Did you book the tour in advance, or just show up?
I'm just going over I think this time...If the tour is on, they should
have room for one more...it's always sounded very cool...be great to
see how it's put on from seeing it so many times from out front!

That sounds like a nice tour. We did a backstage tour of the Folies Bergere at the Tropicana way back around 1990 and it was fun and informative. Don't think they offer that anymore. I remember Cheryl trying on one of the headdresses. It weighed a ton and since she's about five feet tall it didn't exactly fit very well! Wish we'd have taken a picture. We'll have to try the one at Jubilee.
