Thread: Question for those that earned DIAMOND IN A DAY in 2005

Default Question for those that earned DIAMOND IN A DAY in 2005

My question here goes out to anyone that eanred DIAMOND IN A DAY at a Harrah*s property in 2005.

Of course when you reached the number of points needed you were upgraded right away to diamond. My question is now that we're past the renewal period in 2006 I'm wondering if any of you that eanred diamond in this way were renewed as diamond players even if you DID NOT earn 10,000 base points during the rest of 2005.

I know if you earned 10,000 you of course would be. My question is specifically for those that earned diamond in a day in 2005 and did not earn 10,000 points for the year.

Were you renewed to diamond for 2006 or were you downgraded?

Harrahs is slow about mailing the new cards this year. We had to go to the local riverboat to get our new cards. However, our friends who only had a Connection from Caesars got their Harrahs cards in early March. They must be getting caught up on the Caesars members before getting to the regular Harrahs players.

If you want to know your status, go to their web site and log in under your players number and it will tell how you stand. If you haven't gotten your card, call them.

Never made Diamond in a Day, so don't know how that works.

Wish I had something to tell you...I was Diamond, gave it up.
I don't agree with very much of how Harrahs has structured
their Total Rewards program. I willing dropped down to Platinum.
Playing for points, purposely feeding money into Harrahs poor gaming
is just plain stupid. I don't think about points or levels or Harrahs...I just
play and enjoy. There's not that big a difference between Diamond and
    Platinum....save for the egos.

    sonntex:
My reason for asking has nothing to do with if my cards arrived or not. My reason for posting is because I was downgraded to gold when I should still be diamond based on the rules of the program. I've gotten nowhere with e-mailing customer service and I don't think the rep I've been talking to has a clue as to how the system works other then the 10,000 point requirment because all she keeps responding with is that.

    gregrio:
I hear you about the poor gaming at Harrahs, but not all Harrah's properties offer the piss poor gaming that the Rio does. I used to play quite a bit there until the got rid of the last of the decent quarter plays. It's not about feeding extra money in to get the points. It's the principle of it at this point. I'm entitled to it based on thier rules, and I want it. The perks have come in handy and getting renewed should have given me some nice room offers for my next Vegas trip. Most diamond players that were renewed got 4 nights any day of the week out there at most of the properties. I got a lowly 2 night mid week offer.

If anyone else has anything to add please post.

I can very well understand your frustration James, and the RIO aside,
I've heard some good things about other Harrahs properties. You're probably
get further bangin' your head against the wall when it comes to finding
some symphathy or understanding from the RIO...
Did you ever try going direct to Marilyn G, Winn? She'd probably pass it
on to someone to look into, but if you have a lagit gripe and the 'play' to
    back it up....you never know.

I've actually been dealing with people in Atlantic City, where my diamond card was earned and obtained. I'm going to contact their main offices by mail and try to get it all straightened out.

You're right about the banging my head against the wall. You'd be amazed at the ignorant responses I've gotten via e-mail at this point!!! I'll be sending those to the main offices with my letter too!

Harrah's downgraded me to Platnium. Since I moved from the Chicago area couldn't keep up the points, and then Hurricane Katrina tore up N.Orleans, so Harrah's tore me up. They do continue to mail me free room offers for Vegas and New Orleans, and mailed my "New" card to me.

There's really not too much you can do...They get complaints,
emails, letters, by the bags full every week. Form Letter replies are cloned,
once in a while you'll get something that seems to be a bit personal, but
not really...Real numbers, dates, and true facts...thinking the way they do
and using their type of terminology...SOMETIMES gets a better reply, but
rarely...the machine is just too big and you're just too small a guest to find
any real satisfaction..............unless you really drop some big cash on a regular basis...good luck, each Harrahs is different, their managers all have
different personalities but most (and I know this for a fact at RIO) have
been so surpressed by their bosses, they're really affraid to make any decissions on their own like they used to for fear of getting dismissed.
Deal with it, or change properties...it's not going to get any better.

I think Gregrio is right. Harrahs has gotten so big that they can't be bothered with our complaints. Their bureacracy has become very unweildly.

Changing properties might be a good idea. This week we got an offer from NYNY for 3 free nights, $75 in play money, 2 for 1 breakfast and some more stuff, and we have not played there very much. In fact, I have won more than I have lost. We have gotten deals from Mandalay Bay and Excalibur. The Hilton has been sending us offers, and we haven't put more than $200 in their machines in the past year. I think the "other" guys in town are gearing up to give Harrah's a run for their money.

Stungazed, have you tried a face-to-face confrontation? You might try the Total Rewards desk. Ask them how the Diamond in a Day promotions work and does it mean you will be diamond in the following year.

But a little clue about Diamond. We have been Diamond for several years, being upgraded from Platinum. Diamond does not get much more than Platinum or Gold. We don't great upgraded rooms. The best rooms we have gotten were just one step up from the basic. We do get discounts and short lines, invites to tournaments, etc. If you want to get a lot of really great deals from Harrahs you have to drop several thousand each trip. Then they MIGHT notice you.

That said, we still like Harrahs, but we will be looking around to see if we can do better elsewhere.

Can't really do a face to face confrontation because I'm over 3 hours away from Atlantic CIty.

While I've heard mixed results of what people actually get I have to admit, I was getting upgrades at every property I stayed at in 2005 with exception of the Rio where I was upgraded only once. My room offers were better, and I was able to punch in up to 4 nights at just about ANY of ther properties and get 4 nights comped up front. I also had access to the diamond lounge and diamond check in areas, faster valet service (It really did make a difference at the valet) all while my play never changed from when I was gold/platinum (other than the initial day I earned diamond because of a hot streak).

I wouldn't care less about it really but since others on different message boards and people I know kept their diamond cards I'm wondering why I didn't keep mine. It's not like I'm trying to get something I don't really deserve or am trying to swindle them out of anything. I'm only playing by their rules.
