We also saw Danny Gans in his early years. May have been either his last performance or last week at the Stratosphere and the tickets were like $24.95 or very close to that. I do remember that we enjoyed his show so much that we took one of our sons to see him later at the Mirage and paid closer to $100 per ticket.

  3. Default

I think I missed most of the really good deals since my first trip was in 2000. But, I do remember eating a pretty big breakfast at Golden Gate for 1.99. And staying at the Gold Spike for about $22/night.

  4. Default

In the 90's, $ 1.99 meals at the Aladdin. Round trip airfare from Calgary for 159.00.
We once stayed at the Flamingo in Laughlin for $ 14.00 per night. Really miss those prices.

    Default memories

I still feel that vegas is the best & cheapest place for a vacation anywhere (as long as
you don't gamble)--I remember a place near circus-circus (I think it was the showboat)
where you could see great comedy shows for $7.50 which included a drink-if you wanted
more the cost was 75 cents a drink-this was about 30 years ago-where else can you get a wonderful prime rib dinner (with all you can eat salad bar & cherries jubilee) for
$7.99 than vegas-I am talking about the california hotel-we are going to be there in a
    week-can't wait!

    Default Cheapest Eats

We've found the cheapest lunch is at the sports area at Gold Coast Casino. The best hot dogs on the planet for $1.50 with all the toppings you'd want on a dog. It's always our first stop in Vegas since the liquor at their 'gift' shop was the cheapest anywhere. Not such a deal anymore on the liquor, but the hot dog is worth the cab drive!!!!

In '94, the "ex" and I had a $5.99 Steak buffet at the Sands..... GREAT!!!
Also? $7.99 Steak/ Lobster dinner @ Alladin, the BEST!!!
Viva Las Vegas? Free w/ drink @ $5.95.....(Dave Swan back then, ALSO great!)

  8. Cool cheap room

THE CHEAPEST ROOM I CAN REMEMBER WAS IN THE 80'S. THREE OF US GIRLS WOULD STAY AT THE WESTWARD HO 3 BEDROOM SUITE FOR $24 A NIGHT. I GUESS THAT IS WHEN THE COMPS REALLY CAME IN HANDY.

Default cheap deals of long ago

The free room deals are always the best. I haven't paid for a room in maybe 10 years.
But in the early days (mid to late 80's) before getting comped, the best deal around was the Donnybrook Buffet. It was in O'Sheas were the food court is now. $2.99 breakfast AND they would hand out 2 for 1 coupons to you throughout the day. They also routinely handed out free drink coupons for the back bar. No purchase, no limit on redeeming them. Good times for a young couple on a limited budget at the time.
