Smile What's a girl to do?

MY daughter, her boy friend, his sister and husband are going to Vegas for the first time in February. My wife and I go 2-3 times each year but our tastes are, shall we say, more mature. Where midnight is late for us, it is a starting point for them. So here is my question which I hope can be answered. They would like to do things youngens like to do but on a very limited budget. Any suggestions for them?

    Default age?

are they over or under 21?

    Default in addition..

do they have a car for the trip?

if they're 21, do they want to drink or gamble?

    All over 21,
Looking for nightclubs that are not outrageously $$$$$. Something hip but on a small budget.
No car as they are not familiar with Vegas and are not opposed to walking. can fill them in on free transportation around the different casinos.

i'm not all that familiar with nightclubs, they're not really my thing. from what i've heard, the clubs are pretty overpriced. even if you can get in for free, you're getting rammed by drink prices.

if they're into beer, i'd suggest ellis island's bar. they have 20 oz drafts of their own beer for $1. well drinks go for $1 too. they also have the famous steak dinner if they want to eat for cheap. ellis island is fairly close to the strip, east of bally's. it's walkable. main street station downtown has a microbrewery as well. i read on their website that pints are $1 from midnight to 7am.

if they want old school vegas, i'd suggest seeing the checkmates. they're a couple of guys who sing old R&B standards. they play different lounges around vegas, usually at sahara or arizona charlies.

as for free stuff, there's always the standards. the bellagio fountains, the unwatchable pirate battle at TI, the mirage volcano.....

have them checkout www.cheapovegas.com, i usually find good information there.

    Cool Cheap Lounges and Clubs

Try the Brew Pub at the Monte Carlo. They often have good entertainment at night and they brew their beer there. It's quite good.

  7. Default other dance options

They should check out Mandalay bay - the Coral reef lounge has live band dance music, and no cover charge. If they want to go to a club, Rumjungle is right there (but they will wait to get in and then pay for the privildge, plus $$ drinks)

They'd also enjoy any of the dueling piano places. We really like the one at Harrahs, but there's also a great one at NYNY. Lots of fun, especially with a group.

Where do they plan to stay - and when in February are they going? Seems to me there's some big convention in Vegas.

They should also plan on checking out downtown, to see Fremont Street during one of the light shows. Nice party atmosphere. They can take a bus down (takes forever) or a cab.

Most of the Clubs/Ultra Lounges are going to be pretty pricey...addmission
and the drinks, but that's just the way it is....it's hard to get around it and
still enjoy a cool atmosphere. You know this, but let the kids know...one of the things that HAPPENS IN VEGAS and STAYS in Vegas...is YO MONEY!

My only two suggestions would be 'RAIN' in the PALMS, and 'VOODOO
LOUNGE' on top of the RIO. RAIN would be the younger crowd...under 30
and VOODOO Lounge mid 20's and up.

You're gonna have to deal with a line and at least twenty bucks of addmission charge at most places...along with dress codes...usually,
collared shirts and slacks for the guys, sharp/hip/sexy for the girls, no
    tennis shoes.

There's aprox 36 Clubs that are HOT and then there's the Ultra Lounges.
What's popular/what's not is a real personal thing...depends on what you're looking for in an evening out...

Some of the consistantly popular are:
BODY ENGLISH...Hard Rock Fri-Sun 10:30 on, wild young crowd.
COYOTE UGLY...NYNY Nightly form 6pm, cover after 8...more wild Bar atmosphere.
GHOST BAR...Palms 55TH floor, great outdoor view on the terrace.
    STUDIO 54...MGM Tue-Sat 10pm
    TaBU...MGM, lounge atmosphere $$$ drinks
RAIN...Palms, dance, great atmosphere, wild, lound, very popular.
VOODOO LOUNGE...Rio 51st floor, fantastic outdoor terrace view, live music.
TANGERINE...t.i. Tue-Sat, live Burlesque every hour after 10:45.
...................................the list goes on and on.

PICK UP A COPY of '24/7'....it's a small pocket size booklet you'll find on the back seat of the taxies....VERY HELPFUL. All the clubs, lounges, restaurants,
shows/times/and prices, MAP and phone numbers.

Default Night Clubs for Younger Crowd

    Happy Holidays

There are so many small lounges in Vegas that everyone can enjoy with music and dancing and the drinks in most of these lounges will be less than at the hip late hours night clubs. La Scenza at the Venetian has a live band every evening and they are always good and the dance floor is there for anyone so desiring.

    Enjoy
