it's a great prime rib joint. and like all the $$$$ steak and prime rib joints, they have their servicie down to practically a "fast food" science. that's what bothers me about paying $35 +/- for any entree anywhere. it's all served too fast. no more lingering over cocktails and conversation. lawry's especially seems to very quick to clear the table and present the check. restaurant business is built on how many times a table can "turn" in a night and lawry's probably is the table-turning leader.
the food at lawry's is consistently good. they obviously have that down to a science, too. prime rib is carved tableside from a specially-designed stainless steel serving cart along with all the sides. it's good meat because it really is "prime" beef, unlike the billboard specials advertised all over this valley. but it's not really any better than real "prime" rib at any of the hotel or non-hotel steakhouses, some of which even have better prices--and they don't have all those lawry's seasoning bottles on tables that are too close to one another. waitresses at lawry's are dressed in old-english barmaid outfits--kind of dowdy looking for vegas, but it's lawry's.

I agree with everything Andrea said, except that I like the speed that they put the food onto the table. They also clear your table and give you the check quickly. However, I've never felt rushed to get out of the restaurant. If we want to hang out and talk, that's what we do. If we want to leave, we do that. Also, I think Lawry's prices are reasonable and if that is due to them turning over their tables more frequently, then I think they should keep doing it. But I understand Andrea's position, too, because many of my friends do not like Lawry's for the same reason. The restaurants I don't like are those that take 2 hours for dinner.

We ate at Lawry's the week of Thanksgiving. It was absolutely fabulous! Our waiter was Mr. Munos and we had so much fun with him! The setting is rich and elegant, but I saw many people in Dockers and a couple in jeans.
We have eaten here once before and then, too, had a fantastic meal. I highly recommend it!! Next time we hit Vegas, we're going back to Lawry's and asking for Mr. Munos.
