I may be in the minority but I never would advise going to Las Vegas on tight budget. But here are a few suggestions:

1- Call my friend Bob Cohen at the Imperial Palace for great room rates.

2- There are a lot of food specials throughout Las Vegas:
$4.95 Steak Dinner at Ellis Island
$4.95 1/2 Chicken Dinner at Terribles
$5.95 Chicken Dinner at The Frontier
Kady's Cafe at The Riviera always has some low-priced specials
The Sahara Buffet, for the price is not too bad and I believe there is a
two-for 1 coupon in there free funbook.

3-For shows, pick up a copy of either SHOWBIZ or WHAT'S-ON magazine
as there are many discount coupons in them.

Also 2 for 1 tickets can be purchased at either Tickets2Nite or
Tickets4tonight. They have multiple locations on the Strip. Tickets ARE 1/2
price but there is a $6.00 service charge for each ticket.

Have you checked to see if MGM's $59 special is running then? Go to www.playersclub.com - the may still have the offer. You can even sign up online for your card to take avantage of the offer. Bally's also runs some good rates & the location can't be beat.
Make sure to go to Paris's breakfast buffet - its the best. For cheaper-good food, the $4.95 steak special at Ellis Island is great, the Orleans has a good lunch buffet for about $7 (take the free shuttle from Barbary Coast), it & Barbary Coast both have real cheap late night breakfast offers that are real good & less than $3. Google "las vegas coupons" & you can get some discounts for great deals on food & shows, etc.
Good luck & hope you have a great time. We are T-4!! :)

On the Riviera website there is a coupon for Kadys for lunch or dinner buy one get the 2nd one free up to $10 value:
http://www.rivierahotel.com/gaming_coupons.html

You can see Big Elvis at Barbary Coast in the afternoon for free. Also Mac King at Harrahs is inexpensive, as is Ronn Lucas at the Rio. Both are afternoon shows and you should be able to get discount tickets in the Carnival Court at Harrahs. There is a free shuttle between Harrahs and Rio.

Airplay at Tropicana is good. Its at 11,1,3,5,7&9 daily. Its free and not to long. This features acrobats and a high flying act.

Check the web sites of these two ticket places as they often either have discounts on the service charge coupons, or my favorite, a VIP line pass

buy the american casino guide 2005 edition.(ACG) lots of coupons to save you $$$$$$$$$. about $13-$19 at a bookstore or on line.
Just to add a bit more info: IF you have a car or rent one, you can save quite a bit using the ACG coupons

2 for 1's at the buffets at the Orleans, Gold Coast, Hilton, Station Casinos and more. IF you don't have a car, you can use the free shuttle from Barbary Coast (mid strip) to both the Gold Coast and Orleans. Try Amazon.com sometimes you can pick them up even lower than the prices listed.

By the Way, where are you staying?

BTW, the author will be posting a listing of coupons for the 2006 book sometime in October. Got that from his website.

Just a few of the free or really cheap things that would be on my MUST list to see and do:

Freemont Street Experience

The Volcano at The Mirage

The Forum Shops at Ceasar's

The inside of The Luxor...go to the second floor, go to the center and just look up into the apex of the pyramid

While at Luxor, King Tut's Tomb is a well-spent $5.00

Rio's Sky Show

Sam's Town lazer & fountain show

Bellagio fountains...listen not only to the music, but also to the tremendous explosions the pressurized water makes as it explodes from the fountains jets...

Pretty decent, although sometimes cheezy circus acts at Circus-Circus...saw some AWESOME jugglers there on a tuesday afternoon...

The Riv was a great place for us on the slots. However, I would not recommend eating at the buffet. The hot food, was cold, the cold food, was luke warm. The choices IMO were terrible. I'd take the trip to the Aladian, Luxor, or MGM for a decent buffet.
