Well Harrah's did it again. They closed the Gladys Knight show after last Sunday's performance!
So I guess in the words of another soon to be closed show, "Another One Bites The Dust."
I will try to find out more about the closing.

Ok..I am replying to my own post :D
Spoke with Harrah's entertainment and they say all concerned knew the show was closing. They also said Ms. Knight will be returning in the future for some random shows.

This truly was one of the very best shows I've ever seen in Las Vegas. I know her hits (I'm 42, so they were slightly before my time) but I don't own any albums or anything -- just thought it might be a nice way to spend an evening. She really brought the place down -- can sing better now than back in the day. First class entertainment. Highly recommend catching her on those individual bookings.
That said, I haven't seen Tony Bennett yet -- from seeing him on tv it doesn't sound like he's got much left, but maybe in a concert setting he can still sing? Anybody know first hand?

Haven't seen Tony in Vegas but did see him a couple of years ago in Bossier City, LA. He put on a good show but it is not a rousing foot stomper. Very mellow type of show. His voice is very smooth and he sings his biggest hits. His band is good. He sang one song with the mike off and his voice floated across all the way to the upper level. He doesn't usually do encores though because the shows are tiring for him and he has some kind of foot problem, so as soon as the show is over, he is out of the building.
You have to really appreciate his talent and be a fan to be blown away by his show. But even if you're not a big fan, if you get the chance you ought to see him at least once. He's kind of like an icon that everybody should experience.
His Vegas show might be a little more glitz and glamour than what we saw in Bossier City.

Kassa,I work at a casino resort in Niagara Falls and Tony Bennett performed there about 2 months ago. He came in for dinner where I work,he looks great and was very gracious with fans that aproached him.I later asked guests how they enjoyed the show and everyone told me that he was terrific.

I was sorry to see that Gladys Knight's show was closing. I was planning to see her show during my January trip.

Gladys was scheduled to close in November quite some time ago. That's why I made her show my must-see when I went to LV in August. She was terrific and I'm glad I had the opportunity.
Next up, the Divine Miss M. Can't wait to see where Bette will land. As reported on this site, rumor has it she may end up at Wynn, but a while back I heard elsewhere. Wherever it is, as my friend Mike said this morning, "I'm there."

Las Vegas is out for money - no question.
From what I hear, Gladys did not bring in the right clientele. She put on a good show but not great. She was playing a lot with her sidekicks (brother), and did not give her all.
I love Gladys, but like so many other artists, she has become too complacent.
If you want to survive, then give it all - she did not- period.
Thus, Harrah's got rid of her. Case closed.
But, like Gloria Gaynor always says - I will survive.
Shame!
