Just got back from Vegas on Monday evening. We arrived via America West Friday afternoon from Minneapolis on the 4th and checked into the Hilton. Rented a mid-size car from Thrifty. Nice rooms - didn't have to wait in line a long time. Spent some time in the casino, then retired early as it had been a long day for all of us. Las Vegas was really busy - traffic was backed up.
Saturday morning decided to use our points for a free breakfast buffet (only 500 pts gets you the breakfast buffet) at Terribles (there were four of us). From there went to Casino Montelago on Lake Las Vegas. Beautiful place - stayed awhile and joined the players club. They give a free spin for free play to new members. From there we stopped at Fiesta Henderson to join their players club and do some gambling. I hit $260 on a penny machine, so started the day off fairly well:) . I thought that was pretty good for pennies. We all used our 1500 free pts coupons from the ACG for joining the players club there. On our way back, we stopped for the buffet at Gold Coast - it's always good and we had ACG two for one's, which ended up costing us a little over $4 each.
Saturday night we were so excited about the Hall and Oates concert at the Mirage. The Danny Gans theatre was packed and the show was absolutely wonderful. They started out with "maneater" and proceeded with many hits and new recordings. Standing ovation of course and they came back out twice after quitting. Unforgettable and what a bargain at $77.00 per seat! They were only there the 4th and the 5th and I was told at the ticket counter that it was their first concert there.
Gambled some at the Mirage with not too much luck - next morning took a ride downtown to the El Cortez for some different scenery. Made $100 on another penny machine, so I was doing okay. From there we went to the Aladdin - had coupons for free $10 in play with $20 coin in, but the promotions dept. was swamped, so we just played awhile and left. I made $30 there also. I managed to lose some of my winnings that afternoon at Terribles, but Sundays (and Thursdays) are 5X pts, so we decided to give them some business. Had a good time there. Decided to eat at the Gold Coast again as I had coupons left - as good as ever and this time we did stop to gamble. I proceeded to lose $40 so Sunday afternoon and evening were not so good to me money wise.
Had to get up and get packed for departure Monday. We went to Terribles again for the breakfast buffet after checking out and then spent some time at the Aladdin again. We did manage to get our $10 in free play, but it didn't help us much. My son made $30, but my husband and I each lost $20. But the free play was fun and we enjoyed the casino. We all had a great time and are anxiously awaiting our next trip, hopefully not too long a time. Take care everyone and "good luck!" Sincerely, Ruth
