I produce a firework show for one of the local cities each year. Here's a couple cool shots from this past weekend! (No monkeys were harmed during the show.)

I was in orange county (anaheim), ironically, on July 3 for the baseball game. It wasnt the big 'show' of pyrotechnics, but the Angels do a mini show every fri night i learned.
So, i see your location near your screen name. Is there a link?
Or, was this another venue that you launched at?

This was the show for the City of Yorba Linda. It's quite close to Anaheim. We used primarily 3 and 2.5 inch mortars. We mistakenly got a couple of 4", which we aren't allowed to use, but the fire marshall gave us the ok, and we shot them anyway. The show went off perfectly. Out of over 300 shells, only 1 was a dud, due to factory defect, not the pyro crew. We had one 600 shot cake that shot in around 12 seconds flat. They did a write up in the local paper, but the paper's website keeps going down. It's a great set of photos, because you can see the monkey on my shirt in the group shot.
Here's about the last 1/3rd of the finale:

You have a job that when everything goes right is great but if one little mistake look out. The fireworks show about ten miles from my house had one of those mistakes were shell went of early killing the worker who was only nineteen. IT put a damper to a very enjoyable eveaning. People like you earn my respect every time I watch Fireworks.

I appreciate the compliments. We've been at this a long time. Most crews do their set up in one day, on the 4th. We are one of very, very few crews left that do a two day set up. This allows us to concentrate 100% on safety and cross checks. Safety means all things, including staying hydrated, keeping sun safe and pyro safety. The 'safety monkey' is our unofficial mascot, reminding us 'safety first.'

The monkey is Pleepleus. He is the official mascot (and actually registered trademark) of Three Sheets. Three Sheets is a drinking show hosted by Zane Lamprey. He travels to a different country every week to visit bars, pubs and alcohol manufacturers to learn about society and culture. He also gets quite drunk and has to learn the local hangover cures the next day.
There is a Vegas episode where he visited Blush at The Wynn, VooDoo lounge at The Rio and did wine tasting with a master sommelier at The Bellagio. He even stayed in a $20k/night suite at the Paris hotel. You can watch full episodes online at www.hulu.com
Great show. It went off the air when the network that carried it (Mojo HD) went off the air in December. Thanks to some efforts by myself and others, we found it a new home in Fine Living Network. New episodes air beginning July 20th. Since I will be in Vegas that night, I shall DVR it. Time to learn how to say 'cheers' in another language.
