Hitting McCarren at 4:50 pm, and a driver is picking us up at baggage claim, standing there with our name on a little sign...LOL! It won't fool most people but some people will think we're SOMEBODY...
Off to the Golden Nugget with thier amazing pool! My wife and I are Vegas veterans, low-rolling bargain hunters, and along on this trip will be my older sister. It will be her first time in Vegas, and she has been recovering from a stroke for about 2 years. She is doing great, with all her mobility and faculties intack, but with some faltering or searching hesitation in her speech.
Where me and my wife are Walmart-shopping bargain hunters, my sister has maintained even through her ordeal a taste for fine wine, beach houses. and beemers. She also likes a party, music, nice pools, and resort amenities.
We've booked into The golden Nugget, downtown on Freemont. My plan is to have no plan and go with the flow and enjoy the party. My wife's plan is to stay inside air-conditioned casinos as much as possible while winning enough at low limit blackjack to stay in the game. My sister, of course, wants to see the Sirens at T.I., The Ballagio fountains, shops at Ceasars, etc, and that's ok with me. Since I know my way around, I'll be glad to show her around while indulging in all that is Vegas. She also has some desire to hit some of the more upscale eateries, but she is on her own for that! I'll be happy to get her there, but she can find me in the casino after she is done.
Anyway, if you're going to be bouncing around Fremont in the evenings til early am between July 15 and July 20, I'll be the big, white-haired redneck wearing a ballcap with a drink or beer in his hand! If you see me, just yell:
"YO! POPS!" You never know, it might just be me!

Popsss9o4, post in the "member meet" forum your upcoming trip and you might find someone in LV the same time you are.

Hope your sister will do ok in the July LV heat. I'm glad to hear she has recovered from her stroke as well as she did.

I have gotten to take LV virgins twice to LV and it's a blast. It's like seeing Christmas through a child's eyes.

Have fun.

Thanks for all the well-wishes! Talked to my sister last night and she is so excited! She's really done her homework, searched online, made reservations at the upscale eateries she wants to hit, and downloaded and printed a folder full of maps, addresses and phone numbers.
She said: "I'm ready!"

I replied: "No, you are so NOT ready! You have no clue what sensory overload you are heading into! You will start to realize that when you step off the plane in Vegas and see the rows and rows of slot machines in the airport!" (and people actually playing them!)

Anyone that hasn't experienced Vegas cannot possibly be prepared for a party of that size and scope. I've tried to warn her not to be dissapointed if she doesn't get to everything on her "to do" list....sometimes random fun breaks out and scrambles your plan and timetable!
