Just want to say thank you for all the positive notes to my new membership.

Yes Lori, I went out today and bought a Nikon coolpix camera. I will try to document the interesting parts of my trip and post them here. I assume there will be a lot of photos during the week of July 7th from lots of us, it should be fun.

I can't seem to wait for Wednesday morning. I fly out at 7:45 am and land at 9:55 vegas time. I tried to pack yesterday, but think I have to go back through my clothes to pick what I need to bring vs. what I want to bring. I am so glad I was forced to switch to southwest when us airways cancelled my return flight. I save $80 in checked bags fees. There is no way I could have done this with only 1 checked bag, unless I wanted people moving away from me by the end of my trip. I just don't think I really need 6 different pairs of footwear. 2 sneaker, 1 dress, 1 flip flop, 2 sandle. But YES I do need all the undergarments, no skimping there.

Oh here it is, 101 ways to hit that button faster. "the long held secrets to winning slot tournaments" :p

won't be long now

Yeah, do a search for laundromat or fluff n fold and you should find some good info. I know Westie has posted it from time to time. Where are you staying?

I considered doing laundry while I was there, but I think I have enough room. I just bring small garbage bags to throw my used clothing in so that it does not stink up the room. Doing laundry when I get home is always an interesting affair.

I will be at the Luxor.

Mark- I will have my laptop, so we can see about meeting up for a drink.

Document EVERYTHING!!! Interesting things happen when the camera isn't at the ready and then you miss it. With digital cameras, it's easy to dump the junk when you get home.

Just printed my boarding pass. I kept trying starting two minutes early until Southwest let my check in. I have A 29, I hope that is good. I have to assume I am one of the first unimportant people.

I have never flown Southwest before.

24 hours from now I should be on the plane. I have an airport hotel for tonight, so my vacation kind of starts later today. It makes life a lot easier tomorrow morning, plus it is cheaper to use park and fly than the airport parking.

It looks like everything fits into my bags. I still have to find room for this laptop, but I don't think that will be a problem.

Vegas, here I come ready or not!!!!!! :)

KeLesego:

Have a great trip. I hate southwest, personally. But that's probably because most of my experiences are work related, which doesn't make for a good attitude to begin with. A29 is decent, to say the least. That's about as good as you can do without purchasing business class or the likes. I will be out there July 18-21, during your final few days. Are you out there for biz for that long? I cannot imagine a month in Vegas. I go broke after a weekend.

Sounds like you have it all planned out!! Have a great time!
I would love to go to Vegas one time and spend more than a week.
Please be sure to check in when you can and let us know how you are doing
and what you are doing (all the safe stuff to print anyway!).

Have a great time!!

Hey Harold

I spend a lot of time in the poker room. So far I have never lost money in the poker room for the whole trip, lost on some days, but made up for it on other days. Last year I was net $4000, after I paid for everything, I was still $200-$300 up over 3 weeks. The year before it cost me $800 for 3 weeks.

I play 1/2 no limit, but may try some 2/5 this year. I have a lot of fun while I play, so I really don't want to move to a level where it is not fun anymore even if I might be good enough to win more. I will play in some $300+ buy in tournaments, and who knows, if I make a final table I could just try the WSOP.

I'm in Baltimore now and found out that I have to leave too early for the breakfast buffet. They do have fresh baked cookies and coffee downstairs, I may just have to grab a few for a quick bite in the morning.

Made it to the airport.

Could not really sleep last night, so I finally got up at 4:00. The hotel van was running on time, and I jumped on it at 5:00.

There were no lines at the airport. Nobody was in front of me when I checked my bags, and I had nobody in front of me at security. Last year these two things took 1 1/2 hours. My flight is said to be running on time and it is a clear morning. Last year they canceled my flight 4 hours before takeoff. Wish there was a slot machine on this end of the trip because I would win big if this lucky streak held up.

less than 8 hours to go.

#1 There are Walgreen's drug stores everywhere, even a couple on the main strip. Great for snacks, drinks, toothpaste, etc...Worlds cheaper than any hotel shop.

#2 Catch the free shuttle to Sam's Town from Harrah's. The Riviera, or downtown at the California, or the Freemont...Wal-Mart is directly across the street from Sam's Town...go shop, and catch the next shuttle or a later shuttle back to where you started. The drivers don't care if you get back on with Wal-Mart bags or whatever, as long as it's not contraband or an alcoholic beverage.
Just remember to always tip the drivers of the free shuttles! Heck. they just saved you major bucks from a cab or rental! A buck or two won't kill ya....

:cool::cool:

Good advice for FREE!
