For my trip dec 7-12 us rentacar was about half the price of any other companies (compact) 110 including taxes. (booked for dec 7-9 and 9-11 to avoid the week charge)

I was just reading the posts here and had never heard of USrenta-a-car but decided to give them a call. I just saved 64.00 on a convertable in March.
I had thought my origanal price with Dollar wasn't bad (309.00w/taxes)
but 245.00w/taxes for a PT Cruiser is even better. More $ to feed into the slots.
Thanks again,
Donna

chgnlat- $300 for a rental is a lot, even $245 is a lot unless you are talking about two weeks. We had a PT cruiser for a week during our May trip and it was $154 for the week from Dollar. Our reservation for this Dec for economy is $131, next class up is usually only a couple dollars a day more. At least 50% of the time they are out of economy cars and upgrade us for no additional charge.:o

Is that 154.00 with all taxes and fees? I gave the total cost and I find the taxes and fees add up to alot. I am paying 174.00 plus tax and it's on race weekend:-)

Absolutely, it is with all taxes and fees included. The only time in the last 5 years we have paid more than that was when we needed a van to go to CA.

Does anyone know if Dollar has discontinued its discount codes? I have tried every code, which usually discounts by 10%, but no code has been accepted.

Thanks

Renting a car in Vegas is just such a ridiculous price. I would suggest looking in the coupon books for a discount coupon. If your renting for a few days you may as well take it for a week, it's almost as expensive..most of the car rental places have the same price range. It's the insurance that will get you

Most people who use a rental in Vegas do not need to buy the extra insurance that all the car rental companies try to sell. Check the policy that you already carry on your car at home, it should cover you in a rental, then check the credit card company that you use to book the rental, it should cover any additional fees for loss of use and deductibles. If you do not have a car, or do not have full coverage on you home vehicle, that would be the only reason I could see to buy the insurance the rental company sells.

We have started using Fox RentACAR. When I went online to reserve for 3 days Nov 17 -20th( Full size SUV 137.49 total) I tried Alamo, Dollar, Budget all the name brands and Fox came up with the best price. I first used them when the family took a vacation to S.F. and Yosemite NP(Toyota 4 Runner 8 days for $195.48 total). So I was quite pleased that they had a loaction in LV. The only reason we use SUV's is that I have an extremely bad back and lower riding cars are a pain in the back:rolleyes: for me to get out of!

I always rent a car when in Vegas. Usually the code SAMS works for a 10% discount with Thrifty. This last time I joined the Blue Chip Membership which gives you a free day if for any reason you are not satisfied. Also you get quicker service by being a blue chip member. I always keep checking prices about at least once a week after booking because car rental prices fluctuate like airfare - changes all the time. If the price drops, I will just re-book and cancel the first reservation. Usually Dollar and Thrifty are pretty close, but it all depends on how many cars are available and sometimes that can vary between the two. Silver Dollar gives a 5% discount for over 50 yrs.

We use Thrifty and are also Blue Chips. We check back often, too. We use the code SNRS for a 5% discount available to seniors. What does the SAMS code mean?

We always use US Rent-a-Car. I check out their website and also call the 800 number. I haven't found a less expensive rental company. We just got home from LV last night; rented a mini-van (there were five of us) for four days for a total of $167.00. If it is just my husband and me, we get an economy/compact car. They are a local company, and we have never had a problem with pick-up/drop-off. And there are usually no long lines to contend with. They now have a counter in the airport. They are worth checking out.

Hello the cheapest I have found is dollar.com or USrentacar

I would like to add my "2 cents" about Dollar. :D Yes, you are right-they do have the best deal right now. Even though I will be in Las Vegas for 5 days around Christmas, I am renting a car for only 3 days from the Dollar at Bally's rather than at the airport, and returning it there as well. ( A little glitch is that at Bally's you must drop the car off before closing (check their time) since they do not allow night drop-off like Budget at the Flamingo which has very high prices now.)

Some members mentioned that it is hard to use coupons, especially around the holidays or when you are not renting directly from the airport. Most hotel car agencies do not accept coupons as they are independent kiosks), or you have a hard time trying to put in the codes online-my experiences as well. If you call Dollar at the number given on their site, you do better. For example, I got an AARP rate (5% discount) by asking for it, even though the car rental is only for a few days and I am renting at the hotel instead of at the airport. I rent at the hotel so that I can plan my trip so I do not need the car every day and can save money, waiting time, and aggravation. (If I am coming in late at night, why would I want to have the car sit there with no use if I will not be using it until later the next morning? I know you would say I save cab fare, but I figured it out-even with paying cab fare coming and going, it it still cheaper than a day's car rental which I do not need.) I plan my remaining 2 days in Vegas to do activities and shows near the hotel in walking distance, and will use the car for going downtown, off the Strip, or to shows that are further down the Strip. If I change my mind, a cab or the monorail is cheaper than a car for the day. Even though the week rental for 5days is a little better deal, I still prefer to take a cab going and coming from the airport because that cuts down on taking a shuttle, waiting in a line at the rental company, then rushing at the last minute to catch my flight when I have to go crazy  returning the car to the rental site (so many times I have gotten lost trying to find the location or I go around and around), waiting in line again, and doing the shuttle ride. This way I hail a cab in front of the hotel and I'm dropped off right in front of the airline door-no hassle or worry about catching my plane. Hope this helps.:)

Call them directly. Many codes that do not work online work with a live agent.
