Wynn Golf course

I was thinking of playing a round of golf at Wynn. I heard it was $500 but it included a caddy, rental clubs and drinks. Can anyone back this up for me? Do you get better rates if you are staying at the Wynn. Any information will help out. Thanks everyone

From what I understand it's $500, and ONLY hotel guests may play. (With the economy now, who knows?)

Not sure about the clubs and caddy, though.

I called the concierge tonight and set up a tee time. For those of you that play golf and is interested, its $500 green fees but that includes your green fees, club rentals, shoe rentals, cart and caddy, as well food and beverage(alcohol drinks included and lunch is provided to you, you choose what you want before you start to play and what hole you want it delivered on and they will bring it to you). Not bad I guess.

Considering that it is the original Desert Inn golf course and the fact that, as Greg said, it probaly won't be around forever, it sounds like a great experience and a chance to play on the same golf course that the legends of Vegas did way back when. Take plenty of photos and have a great time!

Actually, it's my understanding that the only thing original about that golf course is perhaps the land. According to what I've read, Wynn brought in a golf course designer named Tom Fazio and they built a whole new course. When I stayed at the Wynn, our room overlooked the course. It is quite spectacular and I've read the same thing as Greg--it is slated to become convention space.

LOL - well I guess it is still the same land that the ole' Rat Pack teed off on, even if it isn't 100% original....but for a golf enthusiast (which I am not) it would be a great experience to have before the course is history like so many other Vegas locations...

If you're going to be staying and playing there, and depending on your "play", you can ask them to perhaps comp you after the fact. When I took a tour of the property a few months after they opened by an Executive Host, and he told me the green fees, I looked at him and said, "c'mon, for people who can afford the $500 green fees they most likely don't have to pay anyway...they get comped" He replied, "you're right".

In no way, no how am I suggesting you play for comps, but iffff you're going to play that way anyway, what the hey.....might as well ask.

Oh, I don't disagree. I'm sure that just walking those hallowed grounds would be worth something to a duffer and it is quite beautiful with lush landscaping and waterfalls.

When we stayed at Wynn, our room overlooked the waterfall. Our #2 son who has been a caddy at premiere courses in his younger years & knows caddies at the Wynn says they are used to getting a $150-$250 tip after a round (not that one needs to tip that much).

AND......say hi to Steve's beloved dolphins!
His two favorite dolphins lived at the dolphin habitat...they died eventtually.
Wynn loved them very much so it's said. Even though he's never copped to
the fact, it's been noted in several Las Vegas books that he had them buried
by the waterfall on the 18th green.

Seems like quite a waste of money to design and build a brand new course, only to turn it into convention space a couple years later.

It seems like that to me too although I don't think that was part of the original plan. I don't know how profitable the golf course is but I suspect that a convention center has the potential to be extremely profitable to both hotels. I'm thinking that, given the financial climate right now, this will be a few years down the road. I'd rather he take the money and buy the Bellagio.

NONE of the properties or their features were built/ment to
last in Las Vegas...
Golf course today/convention center tomorrow/sell the whole
thing afte that and move on to the next project.....IT NEVER ENDS.

That's probably true, Greg. I don't think they have any problem taking money and throwing it at the next big idea. They really have no emotional attachment to anything--it seems to stand in the way of "improvements."
