Will taste the fruits of Vegas for the first time Oct.15-21.
Have booked a room with the Barbary Coast. Found the rates to be reasonable
for its Strip location compared with the Mega Casinos nearby.
Interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced the Barbary Coast recently ?? Thanks

We just stayed at the BC in July.
We loved it there! The rooms were nice, clean and I like the bathrooms, especially the little window that opens in the tub!
Everyone has different tastes, but we enjoyed the "old" 1800s theme of the BC. I loved the dark wood tones, and the vintage looking lamps.

Since the hotel only has four floors, nothing is far away from your room!
We had ice and coke machine on our floor by the elevators, and we never had to wait for the elevators at all! Not enough traffic to clog them up.

We found the self park extremely easy to do!! drive in off of Flamingo street on the side of the building, curve up twice to the self park floors and most of the time we got a spot right next to the doors/elevators. The elevators for the garage park are just behind the elevators to the rooms, so not a long walk with luggage or packages.

They have great food in the Victorian Room and it is open 24hours. Plus there is the Coffee Beanery in the front of the casino too!! and don't forget the little old lady who stands in the back of the casino by the second bar area and sells her hotdogs from the hotdog cart!! She is a sweetie and the dogs are good too!! $1.50 a dog!

Everyone was very nice to us in BC, easy to get drinks service, etc...the only thing we found we didnt like was how crowded it gets on the weekend nights...you can't move in the casino with all the crowds at the tables and parties going on in there! But we mostly just walked over to the surrounding casinos and had a great time!

For those who do not care for the large, mega hotel/casinos, BC is a great choice! You're in a prime area with so many great casinos around you, and shuttles to off strip ones right there at the door!

Oh...we also had a view of the Bellagio fountains from our 3rd floor room!
room #350. Not bad for a great price!

Hope you enjoy it there! It doesn't seem like it will be there much longer if Harrahs has its way!! so take lots of pictures! :D

I have never actualy stayed at the Barbary Coast but I have played blackjack there several times. They have quite a few low limit tables usally $5 min. There casino is small but has a great "old Vegas" feel. Playing vidieo poker or blackjack at the bar gets you plenty of comp. drinks.

You will love the Barbary Coast. We stay there when not staying at our Jockey Club timeshare next to the Bellagio. A lot of people do not like the BC as there isn't a pool but we love the people, the rooms and the quick walk from the strip to your room. One gets lost in some of the big resorts. Seattles Best is located up by the front doors on the Flamingo side and has some good donuts as well. Really good drink service at this hotel and we love the Victorian Room. We love the rooms and have always had great service for extra pillows and towels when we have needed them. If you wish to use the pool you are welcomed over at the sister resort The Orleans. They were starting their room remodels this summer with new beds and so forth. We stayed in June there and we visited again in August but stayed at the Jockey but spent a load of money at the BC. Great table games and good limits and great selection of slots. Enjoy. We are staying there for NYE before moving over to the Jockey for the rest of our stay for the CES convention. We just made our reservations for Drai's and can't wait to try dinner there.

  ..........My husband and I stayed at the Barbary Coast on 9/4/05 thru 9/6/05 our first time there we found it to be clean and comfortable. All though it is Small by comparison the location is great. The downside is the casino is very small and there are no in room safes and the bathrooms are weird kind of triangular shaped and the light switch on the wall outside the bathroom. All in all not a bad place. Lots of luck ..... Win Big

My husband and I have stayed at the Barbary Coast for years...We always think of it as home in Las Vegas... Small enough to be personal and CLEAN...
Free shuttles to her sister properities... Wonderful food.. Great Comps...and good video poker... even before we were staying there we parked in their lot because it is so convient...I live in Laughlin Nevada now so I don't spend as much time in Vegas anymore I just hope that nothing changes at the Barbary because it is the closes thing left to Old Vegas that we loved so much...
Hope you enjoy it as much as we have and win Giant Jackpots....

I stayed at the Barbary Coast last December and loved it. The room was clean but bathroom was small, but who cares? I love the location and you can catch a shuttle to the Gold Coast or Orleans right outside the door. I would stay there again.

I've stayed at BC several times over the past three years and have always had a comfy stay. It's so easy to get in and out of the hotel, rooms were always clean and comfortable. Once even had a smoking room but you would never know. King rooms & suites are on the left side of the hallway and queens are on the right side. Elevators are a bit noisy if you have a room near them. BC is in the middle of updating there decor, the theme is not going to change, just the colors a bit.

I've done ok gambling there, but I'm mostly a slot/vp player and I love the variety of games & demoninations that are there. You can also catch the free shuttles that will take you to the other properties, Orleans, Gold Coast and Sun Coast (be sure you read the lettering on each shuttle so you know which casino you are going to! ). On my next trip (in Nov) I plan on trying some table games early in the morning when it's not very crowded. At night, holy cow, it's wall to wall people on the table games!

The staff is friendly enough, esp my favorite bellman, Mike from Chicago. He's very helpful and give lots of tips about the hotel and good places to go eat on a budget and just an overall nice guy. Check in staff has been hit or miss, sometimes I get someone very friendly, last time I got the drill sargent! :( THe Victorian Room usually has good food and service but can get very busy and you often are put on a waiting list esp for lunch and dinner. But if you are a hotel guest, you can call from your room and get put on the list early. The little coffee area in the back is good for a quick cup and snack. I have not been able to dine at the upscale resturants, Drai's and Michael's accessible by elevators only, but have always heard great things about them.

And then there's Big Elvis, free show in the afternoon Tues-Sun, I think. Pete Vallee is a really large person (400+ lbs) but he is so nice and has a terrific voice! :D We always try to catch his show and because the casino is small no matter where you play, you can hear his show.

The only downside is that catching a cab can be trying as there's only a small area on the side of the hotel on the FLamingo street and the cabs have to pull off a busy street in to a small area. No valets here. Sometimes we just go across the street and catch a cab faster over at Ballys.

If you are a low roller and just want a place with a great location and easy access, BC is perfect. You'll have a great time there, I always recommend the Barbary Coast.
