I got to the dinner buffet at 6:00 PM. Even though I had line passes, there was no need. There was very little line waiting to get in. We were quickly seated pretty close to the entrance and to the buffet. Here’s a sampling of what they had to offer:

Salad Station – Made-to-order salads. You pick from romaine and mixed greens, and then tell the person making you salad which of the 10-12 veggie and cheese options you want, along with a choice of about 10 dressings. They’ll mix it and plate it up for you.

Mediterranean Section – I noticed cous cous and stuffed grape leaves, but didn’t get anything from this area.

Asian – This is where I spent most of my appetite. They had fried won tons, beef show fun, orange chicken, bok choy, about 6 kinds of sushi along with wasabi and pickled ginger, soups, pan fried dumplings, steamed buns shu mai, fried rice, steamed rice, and a variety of dipping sauces. I’m not a sushi eater, but I liked the sushi made with rice and cooked shrimp, and I love wasabi.

Seafood – There were a few entrees, which I skipped, along with the standard cold crab legs and large peeled shrimp.

Mexican – Again, another area I passed by. They had beef fajitas, tortilla chips and a choice of toppings, and Mexican rice. There were a few other things I don’t remember.

American – Turkey wrapped in bacon (a little dry), pork loin, St Louis ribs, prime rib, chicken, baked potatoes.

Italian – Eggplant Parmesan, a few pasta dishes, and 3 types of pizza (cheese, pepperoni, and veggie)

Desserts – A pretty large looking selection of cakes and pastries, and a few types of gelato/ice cream. I didn’t have the room.

I like this buffet. I think it’s one of the best in town, ranking right up there with Wynn, Bellagio, Aladdin, and Paris. At about $22 for dinner, I think it’s a great deal for variety and quality of food.

This was the same complaint I had when Eileen and I went to the buffet. I even told the manager who in turn had the chef come over to our table about this problem.

Looks like they haven't corrected the problem. Maybe it takes too long to cook the bacon completely, and the turkey dries out. I had the same complaint at Samba Grill. But at least there's enough food at either place even if you avoid the bacon-wrapped turkey.

Can't wait to try this buffet. We'll be staying at Mirage in 10 days! I'm glad it's getting good reviews!

Thanks

I hated this buffett. It felt like they had tried too hard to make it trendy and in the end it just feels "plastic". They cut down on the amount of choices, and most people don't realize that they are paying more now for what they think is gourmet, and is actually just budget fancy. Everything from the deserts to the salad have suffered in quality. I can honestly say that I haven't been there since soon after the opening, but it made that bad of an impression that I would never give it a second try.

The tossed to order salads were very good. I also liked a couple of Asian dishes, the pizza, and the gelato. Most other dishes were OK, but nothing to rave about.

I prefer Dishes, the buffet at TI. Although the selection there is more limited, what they did offer was of better quality than Cravings, IMO.

Dave, thanks for the report on the buffet at Mirage, my husband and I are trying to decide which buffet or two we will partake of in Dec. when we go.

I thought the food at Dishes was very good too. My problem was with the layout of the buffet and the small space in which the room is located. At breakfast, I had no problem. But at dinner, the lines caused by the layout were large and slow. The line wrapped from one end of the buffet to the other, and I didn't feel like I could just cut in to grab one thing without pissing off people who were waiting in line.

If you can go to Dishes at the uncrowded, off-hours, I think you'd be all set. In that case, Dishes can be very good. But in my opinion, Cravings is better.

Just got back from a 5 day trip and we (hubby & I) ate lunch at Cravings one day. This was my third (or fourth) time but his first time. We are big buffet lovers and hubby was very impressed. I've always had something great at this buffet and this time was no exception. I love the made to order salad bar and had some really sweet & flavorful cherry tomatoes. I also had some prime rib, pizza and mac & cheese which was all very good. One time before I had the best chicken tamalies I had ever eaten but I have not seen them since that first time! Hubby had some asian food, prime rib, marinated vegatables and garlic (which oozed out of his pores all day! ) and he was really satisfied. I also had the best cake I've eaten in a long time which was a Sicilian cake slice. It was so wonderful! Service was very good and price is reasonable for the quality of food you get. This buffet got the thumbs up and the "I'll be back" comment from hubby so this is a very good sign (as he's pretty picky sometimes). I would also rate it as one of the top buffets on the strip. :D

I just got back from LV this weekend, stayed at Mirage. We got a guest card so we didn't have to wait in line, but there really never was a line each time we went. I thought all the food I got was good, it's perhaps a step above the usual typical buffet food you get elsewhere. Although I can't compare it to Bellagio or Wynn's buffet, I did enjoy it.

We just had a late lunch there this week. It was a good value for the money, and selection for lunch was very good. They have made to order Chinese dumplings, they were carving prime rib and whole turkeys, crab legs were outstanding, sushi, and alot more! As in most buffets, they have no problem letting you go in before paying and checking out their menu! The food is really spread out so lines were not a problem. As in most buffets, some items were ok, some good, some outstanding! I think it offers a nice change of pace, some may not like the atmosphere, as it kind of high tech, for the lack of a better term. Our service was outstanding!
