Left Chicago-O'Hare at 8:30 Sat morning..all was smooth and we were in Vegas by 10:15am...decided to take the shuttle instead of a cab because we were spending our first night downtown at the Fremont. I decided I would exercise some patience and delay giving my money away. We were downtown by 11:40am. Not too bad. We absolutely LOVED downtown and were sorry we only booked 1 night. Oh well, next time...we had lunch at Magnolia's (4 Queens) and dinner at Upper Deck (LV Club). Had 2 for 1 coupons from the ACG. Great book! Food was pretty good, especially fried chicken at Upper Deck.
We left Sunday after breakfast at Binions coffee shop to go to The Strat. I liked it a lot at first...had a great room for a standard. Was almost like a suite 'cos it had a seperate room w/a loveseat and chair....and a TV in each room. The water from the sink smelled like rotten eggs...YUK!.....if it were any worse, I would have complained but I dealt with it. My friend's sister & bro-in-law checked into their timeshare across from the Sahara so they were there to cart us around. We played slots a bit at Strat and then walked to Sahara...so far so good.
I'll try to shorten this up a bit.....from Mon-Thurs we saw 3 shows...Viva Las Vegas...very good comedian, American Superstars...Not so good...and Fab Four at Aladdin...FANTASTIC!! Had buffets at GVR, Orleans and Terrible's. Orleans was my favorite hands down. Also loved the casino. Also ate at Nascar Cafe, Harley-Davidson Cafe & Arizona Charlies-Decatur.
All in all, I would never stay at the Strat again...elevators were very slow, didn't like their choice of slots and not enough restaurant variety. Well, live and learn.
Hopefully, we can strive to go to Vegas more than once a year...it's just not enough! Maybe instead of 6 nights once.....we'll stay 4 nights twice.
Sounds good......we did enjoy seeing the White Sox clinch the ALCS on their way to the World Series.....found 2 other Chicagoans in the lounge to watch the game with.....and the rest is history!!!!!
Good luck to all!!!;)

GO SOX!

I was there at the same time, but stayed at Harrah's. We were watching the Sox-Angels game at Ceasars Palace before went to the Elton John concert. We missed the last few innings of the game, but Elton John did make an announcement that the Sox won and were on their way to the World Series.

And, as you said, the rest is history.

Great post! We love the Stratosphere; have stayed there for the past 5 or 6 years. I can't wait to get back to pick up my winnings on the Sox winning the World Series!
