I've had several folks here ask about FOREVER PLAID at the GOLD COAST
so I thought I'd post a review. I've seen it twice now and I think it's
great. Probably for the over 40 age group and lovers of great/tight almost
acappella singing...they use a piano player and their harmonies are KILLER!

The GOLD COAST has a small/no frills type Showroom. Nice little stage,
table seating for parties of 4,5,6. HONKY TONK ANGLES worked there
for years and that was a good show too!
It's the DINNER/SHOW ticket that I find so attractive. If this is the ticket
you choose, you pick a restaurant at the time of booking. I'd usually make
a reservation for 5:30-6, enjoy dinner, then the Show.

HERE'S THE DEAL:
It's and entertaining mix of 50's and 60's Rock 'n Roll, sprinkled with witty
comedy.

It's Febuary 9, 1964. En route to pick up their custom-made plaid tuxedoes,
they were slammed broad-side by a school bus filled with eager Catholic
teens. The teens were on their way to witness the BEATLES make their
U.S. television debut on the Ed Sullivan Show and miraculously escaped
uninjured.
The members of FOREVER PLAID were killed instantly. It is at that moment
when their careers and lives ended, that the story of FOREVER PLAID begins.

Through the Power of Harmony and the Expanding Holes in the Ozone Layer,
in conjunction with the positions of the planets and all that astro-technical
stuff, they are allowed to come back to perform the show they never got
to do in life.
CATCH A FALLING STAR, CHAIN GANG, CRAZY 'BOUT YA BABY, CRY, DREAM
ALONG WITH ME, GOTTA BE THIS OR THAT, HEART AND SOUL, JAMAICA FAREWELL, KINGSTON MARKET, LADY OF SPAIN, LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDDORED THING, MATILDA, MOMENTS TO REMEMBER, NO NOT MUCH,
PAPA LOVES MAMBO, PERFIDIA, RAGS TO RICHES, ROUND AND ROUND,
SHANGRI-LA, SHE LOVES YOU, SING TO ME MR. C, SIXTEEN TONS,
TEMPTATION, THEME FROM THE GOOD, THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN, UNDECIDED.

The show is Tues.-Sun. 7:30 with a Sunday matinee at 3PM, DARK Monday.
Just the Show $29.95 + tax
Dinner/Show package $38.50 + tax
Starting November 17th, they're doing a Christmas Show. $44. Show $49.50 dinner/show
GOLD COAST: 1.800.331.5334............I LIKE THIS SHOW!

We saw the show in April and really enjoyed it. Would like to see the Christmas version when we go in Nov. Do you know if there are any 2 for 1 deals for show?

I've never heard if the half price ticket outlets carry their Show...it's a
pretty good price as-is. Call the Boxoffice...they can tell you if they
honnor/see any of the vouchers.
If you want to see the Christmas Show Granny, you'll have to go back
again in December...

Thought I read somewhere that the Christmas version starts Nov. 17th.
Guess I better do some checking on this.

The 2005 edition of the American Casino Guide has a 2 for 1 coupon for the Gold Coast show room (I don't believe it's in the 2006 edition which comes out in early November, so if you want to use the coupon make sure you get the 2005 edition). It won't work for the dinner and show, unfortunately (at least that's what they told me when I used it in August).
The show is terrific.

You're right 'Grif', the ACG coupon is good for the Show ONLY.
...Granny, call and confirm the Dec. 17 date I mentioned above.
I had just called them prior to my post (don't call close to Showtime)
I was on hold for 20 min...I'm sure she said the Christmas Show
started on Dec. 17th.

Saw it at the Flamingo several years ago and loved it. Later we took our youngest son to see it (he was 21 then) and he also thought it was great. Some think that if you don't have a connection to late 50's music and television you won't enjoy it but our son certainly did.

I agree with Greg. I saw it last week, and it is a great show. I used the 2 for 1 ACG coupon. In the 2005 book, there is also a 2 for 1 coupon for the buffet. I got my tickets on the day of the show and the seats were great.

DON'T FORGET (I just remembered this) If you see FOREVER PLAID and
you're doing the dinner/show...pick up you tickets at the Boxoffice FIRST
before you head to your Restaurant. There's a coupon attached to your
ticket THEY NEED.
(...now I'm thinking of doing the Christmas Show too! hmmmmmmm)

This was in the latest newsletter on this site:

"Forever Plaid" will transform into "Plaid Tidings" during the holiday season of "Forever Plaid," Nov. 17-Dec. 31 at the Gold Coast. But it's really more of a sequel than simply adding a few Christmas carols to the rest of the show. "Plaid" creator Stuart Ross came up with a new scenario, in which a call from Rosemary Clooney sets the four singing ghosts on a mission to create a Christmas show.

Hi Anne,
Yes we are having a Christmas show. It is called "Plaid Tidings". Think
of it as "Forever Plaid 2 - The Christmas TV Special." The boys come back
a second time to perform the Christmas TV show they always dreamed of. It
is filled with Xmas songs and holiday themes.

"Plaid Tidings" runs from 17/NOV-31/NOV and from 13/DEC-31/DEC dark
Mondays. Show times are 7:30pm nightly plus 3pm matinees on Saturday and
Sunday.

This is the reply I received when e-mailing Gold Coast.
And the good news is we'll be there during the Nov. dates.

If you do the dinner show on Plaid Tidings where do you eat? Is it good?

I like the CORTEZ ROOM. Your choices last time I saw it were a little steak
which I had but can't reccomend, the chicken dish my friend had was great
and a fish choice.
There's and Italian restaurant too...don't remember the name

The Italian restaurant is the Arriva. The dinner and show package is also available for the buffet and for the coffee shop (the Monterey Room). Only certain items can be ordered with the package.
For dining options with the show package, go to the Gold Coast website at http://www.goldcoastcasino.com/index2.html then click on Forever Plaid, then dinner and show and it will list what's available.
