My friend, Connie, and I have a list of all the places we have always wanted to see and the joints at which we have always wanted to eat--plus some new ideas from the nice folks on this board.

On the list, to name a few, will be Aliante Station, Jerry's Nugget, the diner next to Hash House A Go Go, 4 Kegs, Town Center, and a show, The Rat Pack is Back. Connie has the list and I can't remember everything on it. There will be gambling at night but I anticipate not too much since Connie has issues (she puts in $10, loses it and cries in her sneakers). Therefore, I will not be bringing my usual bankroll--we're just going to drive around and see stuff, eat too much, meet a few members and kick back and enjoy Vegas without crowds!

Good for you, 7777. Matzoh ball soup is just that---chicken soup with a matzoh ball (or several, depending upon size) in it. Matzoh balls are funny things. They're supposed to be light and fluffy. For some reason, my aunt makes them like cannon balls. They're heavy and chewy. She always laments her failure but I think they taste better that way.

I wonder what gave you away. Did you say anything out loud about it tasting like chicken?

Actually, I think what she said was kind of rude.

Lori,...I am not completely sure, but I think the diner you are referring to (is it called Vegas diner?) may be closed. Something in the back of my head is telling me that. You may want to call and find out. If you're willing to venture out this way and want a very nice dinner (about $40 - $50 pp...including entree and dessert), try Rosemarys. It's either Tuesdays or Wednesdays, but entrees are 50 percent off for women. I had a really good roasted chicken there, and I don't normally order roasted chicken....too common (it's cooked with a brick on it).

Yes, Rosemary's is on the list. I pulled a restaurant.com certificate the other day. Thanks, Doris. If you like it, I know I will!!

As for the diner, Connie will be bummed. That was her contribution. I'll check on it. Thank you again.

Lori,

I passed by the diner next to Hash House this afternoon...(I live near it)....and the Vegas Diner is no longer there. It has been replaced by a restaurant called Bollywood Grill....it is some kind of Indian restaurant....there was a Grand Opening sign on it.

If you're going to go to Rosemary's, they will not accept the coupon AND the 50 percent off entrees for women. Even if it's only the two of you, I do recommend reservations. The restaurant isn't tiny, but it definitely is not huge. Portions are not huge, but quantity more indicative of a gourmet restaurant.....hmmmmm, I can just taste that chicken!

Lori - Are you still staying at Bally's? I will be arriving in Vegas the afternoon of the 12th - my friends have us lined up for a show at the Golden Nugget, so I know we will be heading downtown after we check in. I will probably be playing a tournament on Sunday at the Venetian, but I figure we will drop in at Bally's Saturday to say hi to all there. When you get closer to time - maybe we can figure out sometime to meet up and say hi!

Absolutely. We will be landing about noon on 12/14. We'll be running around during the days but will be somewhere on the strip at night (we plan to see the new volcano, the conservatory, etc.) and I like to gamble at Bill's.

We don't have any hard and fast plans so I pulled the certificate in case our visit doesn't coincide with the 50% discount. Since the coupons are good for a year and I'll be back in April, I'm sure I'll use it. That 50% off thing sounds good though.

Thanks for the scoop on the diner. I already told Connie. I'm sure we won't go hungry!!

Always a pleasure to hear from you, Doris.
