Last trip out was August 19-26 from Indiana via Hooter's Air out of Gary to the Sahara Hotel.

It was our first time on Hooter's. The Gary airport is less than a half hour from home, easy traffic compared to Chicago Midway or O'Hare, and free parking. We arrived around 8 a.m. for our 9:30 flight and found that the airplane had mechanical problems and there would be two smaller planes coming to take the app. 200 passengers. One plane was due at 10:30 and the other at 1:00. They offered a free round trip to anywhere they fly for those that volunteered for the later flight so we jumped at that. We plan on using them to go to Nassau in February.

Arrived in Vegas about 5:00 p.m. We didn't actually leave Gary until 2:30 and had to rush to get our room and head to the Riviera and get our half-price tickets to Splash from Steve. Enjoyed the show very much and had great seats. The Los Latin Cowboys are just outstanding, always keeping you laughing. Thanks, Steve.

We saw three other shows on this trip. Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo was great. We sat in the front row and his close-up magic was as good as his bigger illusions on stage. Loved it.

Monday night we saw Rita Rudner at NYNY. Again we were in the front row and it was very enjoyable. She did 90 minutes nonstop and had us in tears a few times. She picked on me a little bit and it was a lot of fun. Purchased her book "Naked Beneath My Clothes" in the autograph line afterwards and it was also very funny.

The last show we saw was "Buck Wild"at the Sahara. It was okay for the two-4-one price but I don't think I would have wanted to pay full price. Bottom line is if you like country music you will probably enjoy this show. Have to say that the 11 year old boy that played harmonica and sang was really outstanding; the highlight of the show for us.

Had some nice meals this trip the best of which was at the Hofbrauhaus. Met some friends there and had the Jagerschnitzel and the roast pork special. Both had an excellent mushroom cream sauce and we really like the beer there. Its a little pricey but with some 2-4-1 coupons we saved quite a bit.

Tried the Market City Caffe in the Monte carlo for the first time. They had a lobster ravioli as a special and it was very tasty. Will definitely stop there again.

Went to Hilton a few times for a meal at Quark's and the dinner buffet. Had 2-4-1 coupons for both. We always have a great time at Quark's and like the fact that the Hilton dinner buffet comes with wine and beer.

Also ate at Nascar Cafe, Kady's at the Riv, Roxy's at the Strat, and Paco's at the Sahara. Did the Sahara breakfast buffet a few times on comps, strictly fill you up food--nothing fancy but the omelettes are good.

We did lunch at the Strat's Top of the World. A great view and good food at a more reasonable price than going for dinner.

Did a slot tournament again this time at the Sahara. They send us offers as slot club members for three nights stay and tournament entry for $199. There are three sessions and we switch off playing. Big money payouts ($15,000 to $1500) go to the top five places and the rest get $100. You also get a gift (this time it was a small George Foreman type grill) and a dinner at the awards banquet. There are also session prizes. We finished about thirtieth but did win $100 in EZ money (must play it in their machines but won $85 with it) and $60 in cash for session prizes. Also had our name drawn for one of five $100 cash door prizes at the banquet. The other three room nights were comped so it was an inexpensive trip as far as flight and hotel.

Didn't win much on slots or VP this trip but with free plane tickets and the small winnings in the slot tournament we came out pretty good.

Thanks for reading and good luck to all.
