I just read that Rio is closing Antonio's and that the Sao Paulo (coffee shop) is cutting it's hours from 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. - 12 noon. That means the coffee shop is basically only open for breakfast. What's going on !!!! I'm still upset at them closing the Fiore Steakhouse. It was my favourite!

Well I've never cared much for Sao Paulo Cafe...
Looks like the ALL AMERICAN BAR AND GRILL will be REAL BUSY!

Lunch has always been a problem at the RIO, and now it's worse.
If you don't like the Grill, your only other choice is GAYLORDS Indian
Restaurant or the deli. RUB's lunch schedule is so...OFF 'n ON, I've
never been able to count on it, LUCKY STRIKE is closed or closing...
Guess you could do the lunch buffet...but that's an expensive lunch.

With the cafe closing early, I wonder if that will effect ROOM SERVICE
for folks who get up at noon ???

I was at the RIO last nite for din din.

Buzio's was not open -- but, then again.. i'm not certain if they're open for dinner on a wed nite?? Although, the happy lobsters were crawling around the bottom of the display tank!!!

San Paulo had signage in front (as you said) reading "open til 3pm".

Lucky Strike is CLOSED.

There was a GREAT (i want to say latin) steel-drum band playing in masquerade village. It was at the bottom of 'that' staircase.

Yeah, the LIVE music they've been having on the
Masquerade stage has been pretty good...I saw a
couple different GOOD groups my last trip!

The Rio is my "happy place!" I was just there in July and everything was opened. Going back in November and have coupon offers for "2 Free Entrees" at Lucky Strike and "2 Free Tickets to see Rita Rudner" who I understand won't be there when I'm there. Will they make it up to me somehow? The offers are for 10/01/08 through 11/30/08 and I'm going from November 21 through 24.

I'd be surprised if they do Maureen...but you can give it
the old college try!
What I'd do, is plead my case at the Total Reward counter.
I assume they're TR offers...When they were issued, RITA's Show was
probably still on, and who knew LUCKY STRIKE would close...
Tell 'em the owe you a free buffet or two...maybe a Penn & Teller tic (if they're even there...) they're GONE more than they're at the RIO!
Fee spa stuff or dinner at another restaurant...try to get then to make
it up to you some way!

The coupons were in that Quarterly Total Rewards pamphlet I get. There is also one for 2 Free Buffets at Carnaval World Buffet which I will definitely use, but I will take your advice and press them (maybe ask my host before I go?). I come all the way from New Jersey and I just MAY have come that time of the year SOLELY because of those offers. I know they say they are not responsible, but I'm sure they don't want to lose a good customer like me over something like this (I get there about 4 times a year and I'm an upper level Diamond player). I'll let you know what happens, but losing two out of 3 offers is NOT good business.

On the other hand, I doubt they'd loose you as a customer
just over a few 'silly' coupons, lol. (and they know that)
Even if they did loose you... theres plenty of people standing just
behind you to take your place...they'd never miss ya. (they know that too, lol)
