This post is not intended to offend anyone, nor is it intended to invite flames.

The purpose is to reinforce and encourage the friendliness, helpfulness and camaraderie that has developed among members. Some other message boards are filled with name-calling, finger pointing and generally hateful posts. Let's not let this board deteriorate to that state.

Recently I've noticed messages where people are apologizing for something they've posted. That sounds like someone else has been quick to take offense.

If I ask a question, I am inviting the suggestions of anyone who wishes to offer them. Obviously not everyone has the same likes, dislikes or taste, so I am free to pick and choose among the responses. I don't have to take that advice if I don't want to, but I am certainly appreciative of those who have offered help.

Let's continue the spirit of good will with all members and enjoy our favorite pastime: Talking and reading about Las Vegas (when we can't actually be there)!

And just who do you think you are posting such ridiculous comments? We can certainly do without your kind on this board. If you want to preach, then get yourself into a pulpit somewhere else.

Ha ha ha - gotya - you've been punked.

I haven't seen posts like that yet so I hope that they are being edited before too many people see them. This forum is known for being one of the (in my eyes "the") friendliest boards on the net so I hope we can keep it that way.

I believe that I was involved in one of those threads LegalLois is talkingabout but I don't understand why it even warranted a "let's keep our board friendly" post - there was nothing even remotely inflammatory about what took place.

In a nutshell - someone asked for a specific type of restaurant - a dressy upscale restaurant - and when someone else who is relatively new to the board offered suggestions, several people including myself commented that one place mentioned in particular was a good place but not the type of place that the person was looking for. The person who posted the suggestion that was being commented on then posted something to the effect of "I am sorry for my recommendations - you can read what other people think of my suggestions" or something like that. It was then that I apologized because it did indeed seem like that person had been offended in some way. And as a former member of another very well known board, where the people are HORRENDOUS and treat newbies like dirt, I did not want to make that person feel as if they were being ganged up on, unwelcome, or that their recommendations were invalid in any way. Basically I was trying to be nice and not leave someone with hurt feelings when that was not the intention.

In any case, it definitely should not have birthed a whole new thread when that situation has already resolved itself in that original thread.

If anyone sees anything that appears to be off color or offensive in any way, all you need to do is contact me and I will zap it into InternetLand as fast as I can.

I try to check the posts once a day but sometimes I miss something. In saying that, let me also say that we have the best members here of any forums on the Internet and I very rarely had to remove an offensive remark.

Appreciate your hard work, Steve.

And, Internetland is a far far far away place... beyond tomorrowland & adventureland! ;);)

I agree wholeheartedly. I too was in one of those other groups another poster mentioned. The flames and nastiness got so out of control they completely took over the newsgroup and people became hesitant to post anything of value. That's why I was so attracted to this forum.

When I saw a couple of apologies, I thought I was being helpful in trying to nip it in the bud without stepping on any toes. I guess it's my turn to apologize.
