Hey Steve, how do folks even find your website now, other than word of mouth? I did a search of Las Vegas websites, and it didn't appear at all on the first 3 pages. I found your original AOL board very easily about 8 years ago. Just curious, Jane

I really don't know how the Internet works..perhaps Hunter would be the one to ask.

Well, if you're curious about how Google works, it can be complicated. Here's some background:

A big part of it is how often other people link to you - that helps you move up in the rankings.

Google is more geared towards search able articles and the like - less powerful for searching and locating communities like this one.

When you come onto the forum, instead of typing in the address or going straight to the link on your favourites, search on google or whichever search engine you use and click on ELV on whatever page it is on. If we all do this at each visit it will soon have ELV up there on the first page for everyone to see and therefore attract more members!

You have to be careful though. If google (etc) know that you are doing it to raise the ranking of the site they don't take it too well. We did it with our office address (although there were 50 of us doing it over and over again for a couple of days lol) and they weren't very happy. They can take you off completely or move you down the rankings. Thankfully for us they didn't but they warned that they could. On a more positive note, if you search for a certain lawyers' firm in Glasgow now you will find us right up there! :D

You can install a site meter to your board and follow which "key words" found your site. Or you can pay Google to have them at the top of their list.
