...is luring more foreign tourists to Las Vegas." That was one of the topics discussed tonight on the news. I can attest to this fact, as I finally went to the Mirage to see the tiger cubs on tuesday. Just about everyone in the registration area was speaking a foreign language--and not just Spanish. I heard everything from French to Italian to Mandarin to Russian. And other languages I couldn't name. The place was very crowded, but with very few American tourists.
By the way, the tiger cubs were adorable. Three white females, and one golden male, all from the same litter. The color difference is due to recessive genes. The male has already learned how to pounce. All 4 of them were entangled at one point, and when I heard a loud "thud", I turned around and saw on of them mid back flip. They play just like domestic felines. The tour guides said they're 13 weeks old, 30 lbs. and gaining 3 lbs per week. They're still bottle fed, but they're gradually getting small pieces of meat. They're so adorable! The one named Star even posed for pictures for us. There is one named Celestial, and I can't recall the other 2 names. It was a fun afternoon. The dolphins weren't very active though.
admission: $15 adults, $10 children 3-12, under 3 free. Now open 10 a.m.-7p.m.
