I have seen some of you mention that in December some restaurants and buffets are closed down. Is this true?? Are you talking about the good buffets like Bellagio and Aladdin?

Thanks

My experience was downtown along Freemont Street on the Sunday that the National Finals Rodeo ended, I'm not sure of the date, but it was around the 14th or 15th of December....That evening, suddenly, all the places where we had been eating for the past 4 days were closed, with explanations like "remodeling", "major cleaning" and "staff vacations'... staff that remained told us there was a slow period from then until after Christmas, and since it was so busy the rest of the year, it was really the only time they could shut down for 10 days or so. After finding at least 5 places closed that had been open every other night, we finally founfd the buffet at Main St Station open, so we didn't starve, but for a while the it looked like we were going to end up at McDonald's in the Plaza, scarfing down quarter-pounders and fries...Don't know if the "Christmas Slow Down" has any effect on the strip properties. though...

We were there last year on Christmas Day and for a few days after. We had no trouble finding places to eat on the strip. However, some of the shows were dark.

We were also there on Christmas day last year and found no problems with restaurants closed. We will be flying out of Portland, OR on Christmas night again this year (which is also my birthday). Celebrating Christmas/birthday in Vegas is the only way to go! :D
