It plays at 7:30pm during the week.
It plays twice on Saturday.
It stirs the imagination & hearts alike.
IT is Mamma Mia!
You know a show is good when it sticks in your mind for hours (after you've left the theater.)
You know a show is GREAT when it sticks in your mind for days & weeks. In addition, tons of people are smiling, singing, and so energized as they exit the theater that onlookers marvel & say to themself "WOW, that must be a heck of a show" as one lady did indeed to Steve as we left.
The broadway show - now in its' (i think) 5th year at MB is a compilation of catchy ABBA tunes & the storyline of Sophie. Sophie, a girl who is just days from her wedding with one wish - to have her father walk her down the aisle. Takes place in the Greek Isles. Friends, family, and more join in. Only problem... Sophie doesnt know who her true dad is. Three men show up at the resort... THE THREE men who had a fling with Sophie's mother 20 years ago.
A feel good story envelops you with some great acting and, of course, the music of ABBA. You're going to hear a ton of music with the backup of an orchestra at the MB theater. The lyrics, they're sung by the actors and actresses themself. So, dont worry - no lip sync stuff here, lol. Get ready for MAMMA MIA, DANCING QUEEN, (a really moving) WINNER TAKES IT ALL, TAKE A CHANCE ON ME. Then there's GIMME GIMME GIMME!, NAME OF THE GAME. Next SOS. Finally (not in any sort of order, lol), is a cool CHIQUITITA.
I'll be honest with you - there were at least 2 songs - that i DIDNT even know where ABBA songs. A novelty thing for sure. The cast was great & i must mention a special praise for actress Kelly Daniels. She plays the leading role. Undeniable energy, grace, and wow-factor @ the very end. She (and the whole cast) give it all they got ......... and, so, everyone's standing & cheering at the end.
I havent seen many plays/musicals... but i loved this one. If you're skeptical about seeing something that's "broadway-like" while in town... dont be. It's a heck of a show.
Eventually the story does unfold and the three 'potential fathers', Harry Bright, Sam Carmichael, and Bill Austin delite audiences as they...
( want to know what happens? GO SEE THE SHOW!!! )
