Well the breaking news all over is that starting in Novemeber, US Airways will be removing all in flight entertainment from their aircraft on domestic flights (International flights will still have it), so no more movies etc ...here is the link:

Rising fuel costs are affecting everyone... in every aspect of life. :(
Although, this does seem like an extreme measure... are they going to take out the seats next and make us sit on the floor of the cabin to lighten the aircraft even more?

I was checking my September USAir flights from Dallas and going in on Friday there are still 3 flights and mine's pretty full, but coming back on Tuesday there are now only 2. Mine is still listed but it's pretty empty. I'm wondering if they'll shuck it and I'll be stuck in LV. LOL
Nah, they'll shift me to one that goes thru Denver and leaves at 6:00 in the morning and it'll take forever to get home. Ugh!!!

My position is that they can remove all entertainment, food, drinks, and even the overhead storage bin. I don't care if they have vegetable crates for seats. I can bring my own entertainment, food, drinks or seats. All I want is a cheap fare to get me where I want to go. I don't need the comfort (yet).
I was more than OK with the way Southwest loads their plane (no seat reservation) and serve only drinks and peanuts. Their prices are still affordable (probably because of the deals they made for fuel). And I see a lot of people on these boards traveling on Southwest. But if Southwest wants to stop serving drinks and peanuts, that's OK with me. Not much else they can cut. And if they cut out the drinks and peanuts, they wouldn't need so many attendants (FAA rules aside).

If the airlines stop serving drinks then we should be allowed to bring our own drinks onboard. The beverages that I'm referring to are of adult nature.

Well I certainly know about having changes done to your flights.
Last year Delta changed my flight from a direct to a stop over in Atlanta and changed the times 6 times!
This year, They have changed the time on leaving Boston 4 times so far......
And yes the original flight and the previous 2 other changes cannot be found on any site.
AND to top it off not one of the seat choices are the same! I was towards the front of the plane and now I am way way in the back!
I will worry about all these changes when it gets to 2 weeks before I leave.
Then..........I will TRY to change my seats, right now the site does not even allow me to change them.........

I've only had a few flights that have done flight changes and I also was playing the "musical seats game". You're best chance for getting your seat changed from the lavatory dungeon is calling the airlines directly. Call at a time that the phone reps aren't being bombarded. Middle of the night is not a joke. Explain how your flights have been changed and with a little luck you might find a sympathetic ear that will help you. Don't call during the day when the phones are ringing endlessly. You will get a scripted response about the additional charges to change seats, etc.
Good Luck.

We do not have US Airways to fly from here, but I do know about flight changes after booking on Northwest. Last year we had our flight times changed three times, and our seats were changed a couple of times. One of our flights had us connecting in Minneapolis with only about 15 minutes to spare. We would have never made it except our connecting flight was an hour late. Not much you can do about it either. We called and tried to get things changed but they said unless flight was cancelled we could not get our money back or change our flights without a fee of 100.00 being applied.

That is awful customer service- since they were the ones you changed your flights three times and were the cause of you missing that connection they could have been a little more understanding and nicer. That is why I am going to fly Jet Blue from NY from now on - I was delayed on my departure due to weather and Jet's policy is that if there is a weather delay you can change your ticket with NO ADDITIONAL FEE - which means if your flight is delayed by several hours you can decide to stay another night and fly our the next day instead of spending the day miserable at the airport. Also, if the fare drops after you purchase your ticket you call them and they will refund the difference into your account so you can use that credit on a future flight...all carriers should be doing things like that with the economy the way it currently is!!! If they were a little nicer, customer loyalty would keep them from having to resort to desperate measures to stay afloat!

The less I see those TV monitors, the better. They are just another daggoned addiction. Every time I looked up at a screen, I witnessed something violent, or totally stupid. People PAY to see movies they have already seen before, too. I will read an erotic novel, and no one will be the wiser. And, no, my erotic books aren't an addiction. I do read scary stories, too

My flights for September are still there. The time on the Friday flight got changed, but not much. Just leaving a few minutes earlier. My flight back on Tuesday is still pretty empty - got my fingers crossed that it will fill up, but I've got a bad feeling about it.
I did get my ticket early enough, however, that I won't have to pay for checked luggage.
