Thanks Anne-Marie. I was able to get RT non-stop to Las Vegas for $450 including fees, taxes, etc, for Christmas week. SW is the only airline that goes NS from Buffalo and the only way I'll travel regardless of the price. Besides, I've never seen rates on any other airline, as low as and with such convenient flight times as on on SW.

I logged on to the website to check rates, then phoned SW to compare the rates. At approx 2:30PM I was told that all the low rates were gone already. I decided to book online and chose a web special of $125 one way instead of the regular $198. After I keyed in all my choices I was told that the web special had gone up to $198. <sigh>

Geesh, next time the rates come out I'll stay up until midnight, to get the best fare. LOL

On the news this morning they said SW is raising fares but trying to keep the extras free.

Their fares have gone up BIG TIME for my Oakland to Las Vegas
flights. Not that long ago, I'd pay $87. each way non stop.
Then it went to $97. and now it's $172.

I earn 1 free flight a year, and the one I book this morning is
also free...THANKS TO THEIR SOUTHWEST VISA CARD...spend
a buck, earn a point.

I had been using HARRAH'S VISA to do the same thing in re. to
discounts at the RIO, but the extra free flight I'll earn a year
with SOUTHWEST is more important to me now than the Harrah's
perks. (Dec. 14-19)

couple of weeks ago I got EWR-LAS on Continental for the day after thanksgiving for just about $20 each way more than last November....total with tax and fees about $400...

What will be interesting this year will be if they do their usual equipment shift after October - the last two years they start of with the equipment being 737-800's, then switching in October to a 757-300 -- a slightly bigger plane...which I believe is actually a little more fuel efficient than the 737....

Here I go again, folks, citing the Dallas Morning News....
but this morning's business section says....

SW to CUT flights from...
Chicago Midway - 9 flights
Oakland - 6 flights
Phoenix - 4 flights

Didn't say if any of them were to Vegas - surely not, but ya never know.

But they ADDED 20 flights from Denver, which they claim is the fastest growing operation in their history.

Delta beat out Southwest by $100 on the Orlando to LV route in December.

My wife & I are flying to Vegas in September. We booked our flights with Southwest about a month or so ago and got $200 each non-stop both ways outta Indy. I just checked it and it's still only $238. Can't beat that!
