It's still great - really great.
Price has gone up for indiv. ride passes.
But - if you have local i.d. - you save $ on the tower admission. If you show local i.d. - you also save $3 on a combo ticket (they dont tell you this), but, it's a $3 savings / combo ticket.
I ended up getting admission + 1 ride (as did my friend).
Rode it at 12:15am last nite -- had 2 rounds of drinks in me @ that point, and so, my fear level was lowered a bit.
This is actually a great time to go (after 11pm or so)... the lounge that overlooks the rotating dining room below has good views & comfy seats. Bar was nearly empty on this fri night.

p.s. -- i had already been on x-scream (no comment)
p.s. -- i didnt have the guts to get on Insanity (shush, stop laughing)

we rode the Bigshot in 1998... the day before we were to get married in LV... I loved it! My DH did not like it so well.... he is afraid of heights so he said I made it worse because I was hanging over as far as the restraints would let me as we were comming back to rest on platform .. I wanted to see the cars/people on street directly below the tower.
Husband will never go again......... I however am waiting for the time when one or both of my sons are in LV with me and I will ride again!!!!!

Gotta tell you - was a couple (looked to be late 40's) or early 50's adjacent to our seats. Why do you ask?

Hmmm...rediculus? NO WAY, but with that type of philosophy
you 'might' miss out on a lot of FUN in this ONE life we're given...

I like roller coasters and other thrill rides, but I can't quite bring myself to try the ones on top of the Strat. Maybe I'll get up the nerve to do so before I turn 56 -- in five months.

7777...... GO FOR IT!
remember you are in Vegas and almost anything goes!
I love roller coasters(almost 44).... still ride em at Cedar Point every year ..... Have ridden several in Las Vegas too. Still like the thrill of the Big Shot best.

Just go & do it - the safety advances practically guarantee everything.
I mean if you have heart / pregnancy issues - stay away. But, otherwise!! :D
There was a lady on the other side who was riding solo - while her husband watched (he was timid). Each of them looked to be early 40's. You really dont have anything to lose ............ unless you did the buffet 11 minutes prior.
I'm a major fan of instant speed.... and a MAJOR MAJOR fan of instant speed with the big-shot.
The one upshot (pun intended) of the BIG SHOT is that you're lifted 2 feet off the ground moments before it's about to launch so you get a tiny bit of warning.............. then the lights come on....... next you're hurled up 160 feet in about 2.2 seconds. So awesome!!!
When you're on it - you can (i dare you) keep your eyes open ya know.

I can't take the first big drop on a roller coaster--so I know I wouldn't be able to do this! More power to those who can stomach it!!
