This weeks Topic Of The Week question comes from Frank.(westie)

I have a suggestion for a topic. You have been just been hired as the Entertainment Director of the Imperial Palace and are free to hire any acts to
perform in a special edition of Legends in Concert.

This one night only performance will be broadcast live on a major TV network. What tribute acts would hire and in what order would they appear?

I have 2 choices. My first choice would be the Temptations and my second choice would be Gladys Knight. I sure do miss her Vegas show.

I guess by Getting Danny Gans you could cover all angles of tributes...Many years ago at The Rio They were "GIVING away tickets to see him and it was a good show,Now when I take out a 2nd mortgage Ill go see him again..Does anyone think show prices will ever ease up???:)

Of all the shows I've paid to see in Vegas, I've seen Legends in Concern more than any other.

The original Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe were incredible. ;)

My favorite was Buddy Holly. His real name was george ???? and he played the role to the hilt. It was 15 years sago, but He would be a must for me. :D

The last time I saw the show there was a Ann Margaret who was very good. :p

There are so many others who are fantastic as well, but the final act must always be Elvis. Nobody follows the King!

The Blues Brothers of course. And The Pointer Sisters would be wild.

Oh yes the Village People - need lots of audience participation and hoop'n and hollar'n!

I go to Vegas for the shows & have seen Legends the most. Start with The Rat Pack & follow thru with today's legends, Wayne, Celine, Cher, Bette, Elton, Tom, Barry & Elvis as finale. The best of Vegas in one show! How about that IP ?? viva

Legends usually has 6 acts and I want to rock this town so here are the ones I am going to hire in the order of presentation.

1) Lead off with Little Richard to get people warmed up

2) Bob Dylan

3) Beetles

4) Rod Stuart

5) Temptations

6) Rolling Stones with Tina Turner joining Mick for the closing number - Proud Mary

I use the biggest all-time sellers of records: According to Wikipedia these 5 have the most record sales.

500 million records or more
The Beatles
Bing Crosby
Elvis Presley
Frank Sinatra
Michael Jackson

Then I would pick Vegas and tribute show all time favorites:
Liberance
Dean Martin
Barbara Streisand
Cher
Neil Diamond
Blues Brothers

Add some country superstars: Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers and Shania Twain

Mixed in with a few for the younger crowds; Britani Spears..Gloria Estafan

I don't think the order matters that much, but I start with Elvis and would end with Frank Sinatra out of respect for their influence on Vegas entertainment.

That should do it... Send me tickets, I really enjoyed Legends when I saw it.

And just FYI: if they love my line-up they can hire me cheap for the entertainment director job..

How about fitting in Sonny & Cher together with "I got you babe"?
I agree you must have Elvis and Frank Sinatra or it wouldn't be Vegas.

They would difinitely need to open it up with "TRIBUTE" the group that used to do the Temptations segment of the show. Then to suit my tastes, they'd have to have George Michael, Sting (they could just get Jimmy Hopper for that), then close it off with Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis, of course.

Haven't decided who would get top billing.
I know for sure Wayne Newton and Tom Jones would definitely NOT be anywhere on the list.

My choices would be those I have never seen in concert and who I feel would be entertaining:

1) Frank Sinatra
2) Bobby Darin
3) Patsy Cline
4) Beatles (later years)
5) Elvis

A little of something for everyone!;)

I'd go see anything Beatles - either individually or as a group. I think when I saw Legends they had Prince but he would be my second choice. And lately I've really liked hearing Dean Martin's old songs.

First - legends should be dead, as far as I am concerned.
To call Cher, Celine, Mariah, etc a legend, to me, is using the term legend out of context. The only reason that they call performers "legends" is to grab the high ticket prices that they demand. No one, but no one, deserves that kind of ticket price in Vegas. It is nothing but robbery, and someone should call the police.

Saying that. my choices of performers:

1- Judy Garland
2 - Marlene Dietrich
3 - Bobby Darin
4 - Liberace
5 - Frank Sinatra
6 - Elvis

No list would be complete without Dean Martin. After him, Beatles, Tom Jones, Wayne Newton, Liberace, and Elvis. :D

Freddie Mercury and Queen but I doubt anyone would be able to pull it off.

I would start and finish with Sebastian Anzaldo as Frank Sinatra (The best ever) and Trent Carlini as Elvis.(Is there a better Elvis? Maybe Shawn Klush?) Would be like reunion for the two greatest Vegas entertainers of all time. If they can't fill 90 minutes nobody can. If we need some fill then maybe someone could suggest the best Dean Martin and Sammy Davis tribute artist. (I haven't found one yet)

There are some terrific suggestions on everyone's posting to this thread! I think Trent Carlini had the longest run as Elvis in Las Vegas Legends in Concert, and he won ABC's reality show The Next Best Thing. Shawn Klush starred as ‘Elvis’ in 2004 in Legends' Branson MO. production. He also alternated in their Las Vegas and Atlantic City show rooms. Shawn Klush came in first and Trent Carlini second in the first EPE (Elvis Presley Enterprises)-sponsored Elvis tribute competition in Memphis last August. Both Trent and Shawn would be very good choices for Legends, but I believe professionally they have gone farther. Trent has his own show 6 nights a week at The Sahara and Shawn is traveling the world and selling out shows in huge venues.

For anyone interested in celebrity tributes and in town later this month, the Original Celebrity Impersonators Convention will be held May 24-29 at the Imperial Palace. Their website for further information is here: http://celebrityimpersonatorconventions.com/ . This will be my fourth year attending the Tuesday afternoon showcase. It is Tuesday, May 27 from 11 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. and a real bargain at only $15!

I think I would try to cover some genre's, like rock, country, jazz, pop, & opera. And I would add in Vegas legends with them. (male or female...dead or alive) Each legend would perform 3 songs each.

Rock...The Beatles
Country...Patsy Cline
Jazz...Miles Davis
Opera...Andrea Bocelli
Pop...Celine Dion
Vegas Legends...Elvis, Frank Sinatra, & Liberace
