Hello all, I am trying to find out what is going on with something that is bothering me. My wife and I each got a 3 day comp at El Cortez, which we used for my spring break from teaching. We used the total of 6 days, 3 each, but we stayed only 5 days. My wife got another 3 day comp but I have not received another comp. Is it because we did not gamble enough on the last 3 days of the comp? I think that is the case but I want conformation from ye insightful gamblers. Is there a way to fix this, or are we going to have to gamble a lot on our next comp. Oh, we both have our separate club cards. Is this the problem? Shall we merge the cards?

I don't know anything about the Cortez and how their system works, but I am going to make some assumptions.

The comp she got came from her play.

Did you both play slots? If you played mostly tables, then most likely you did not run up as many comps as she did if she played slots.

Under the programs of most of the casinos, slot players get more 'stuff' than the table players unless you are betting some pretty high hands at the tables.

We are Harrahs players. I get more 'stuff' than W does because I play more than he does.

We both play slots who never play the tables.

Then either she played a lot more than you did - she played higher denomination machines than you did, OR....
Cortez has a completely different system than most other casinos.

I have heard - and my husband swears by this - that the casinos cater to the ladies and they get better offers than the guys. He says they work on the wife to come back so they will drag their husbands along. LOL

But..I know Harrahs does this..some of the casinos do not send the same offer to two people that have the same address. Maybe you both got the same offer in the beginning just to get you there, then the next offer was set up on different criteria.

You never know how these casinos have their computers set up. Ordinarily, I would say you are better off having separate cards, but the Cortez may be one of those where combined cards would benefit you.

If you stayed at El Cortez and also played there, it doesn't hurt to simply call them and ask what they have to offer you.

Did you check out and then check back in under your name?

If my cousin and I want to both use our offers, we will check back in under the other name so that we can both get credit for reserving a room. We've noticed that several places will send offers only to those who have the name on the room.....even if both names are listed, the primary name gets the offers.

My stepson is finding the same situation at The Palms. He went with a friend and the friend spent much more on the gaming. But my stepson is the one that gets the offers - once a month. The other guy has gotten 0 offers.

No, when we got there, we used my wife's offer for the first 3 days and my 3 days for the next 3 days, however, we did checkout a day early under my name, so I guess we blew it there, huh?

That most likely is the case. You may still get some offers - just not the same ones that she gets.
