Had a great non-stop from Boston and arrived Sunday afternoon proceeded to Golden Nugget where we stayed for only 2 days. Played all the nickel machines around the walls but favorite was Aliens. When we got into the bonus screen loved watching all the little Aliens running all over the screen. Did OK on this machine and came out ahead for the first time in many years.
Best meal downtown was the seafood buffet Sunday night at the Freemont
where we had a 2 for 1 coupon and piled lobster claws, shrimp, and huge crab legs. We ate so much that we needed 4 plates to take away the broken shells this was only for 2 of us. My husband stayed inside to find another hopefully HOT machine while I went outside to watch the always great laser show in the sky. Tuesday a.m. moved to the strip to Ballys where my husband was entered into the slot tournament. Paid $99.00 to enter and received 3 nights free at Ballys. If not for that would have stayed the entire trip at Golden Nugget. His machine was very cold and came in around #300 out of 400 people playing. Lots of fun to watch and met great people from all over. Saw a fabulous show the Scintas and highly recommend this to everyone. Great seats at tables, not expensive and laughter from beginning to end of show. Even bought the DVD of the show to show to relatives who haven't see it. A MUST SEE. We walked and walked and left deposits in each and every hotel on the strip, waiting for us when we return next year. We bought a 10 ticket pass for $20.00 for the monorail which is a great deal. Found a great way to get to the Wynn casino. Go to Caesers hotel and take the free shuttle bus to Fashion Mall when you get off, you are across the street from Wynn. To return to a strip hotel, take the free shuttle at Wynn which then takes you to the monorail at the Convention Center, then take the monorail to wherever you need to go on the strip. Very easy, safe and not expensive.
Now for the bad news for us. Got the airport 2 hrs early, got on the plane for an 11:30 departure only to be told that one engine was not working. Sat on the hot plane for 2 hours at the gate, plane fixed taxied to runway to be told that engine was not fixed, back to the gate where we sat for another 3 hours being told this time the engine would really be fixed. 2 hours later, we were put on another plane, and finally arrived home at 7 hours later than scheduled. Now we were so glad to be home in Boston however, most roads closed after midnight and it took another 3 hours to get home from airport which normally would take 45 min.
One week later, we are still exhausted but will go back to Vegas again next year on planes that have 2 working engines.
